Awesome stuff! Stringrays are pretty trebly anyway so flatwounds mellow them out a little bit! Looks lovely though, congrats!

I always unplug my active, not to conserve battery but just so I can rest it against the amp when it's not on me. It'd topple over otherwise! Thinking about it though I should probably change the batteries, haven't done so since I got it last year!

I'm surprised nobodies mentioned pick up position yet, he uses a mid 70's Jazz so you'll want a 5 string with 70's jazz spacing. Mayonnes Jabba's do a pretty good imitation of the MM tone (to my ears), they come in 5 string too - Might be worth a look?

Is it even a bass though? It doesn't have any actual "proper" bass notes unless paired with an octave pedal Good for those only practicing chords/solo stuff beyond the 12th fret, not a fat lot of use for anything else I would of thought. A 5 string cut off at the 5th fret makes a lot more sense though, shorter with a full standard bass range. Win-win for a travel bass!

I always take youtube tutorials with a pinch of salt, at the end of the day it's going to be their interpretation of the song and it may or may not be "correct". For me the recorded version sounds a bit more 'laxed but the live 1 with the changes sounds a bit more pushed along (it is quicker anyway but IMO following the chords amplifies this a little bit). So I'd ask the band how they want it to sound or maybe mix the 2, worlds your oyster really!

My brother's disabled but likes strum on a guitar, not making any kind of music or anything just "playing".. it puts a smile in on his face. This device could probably help him play something a little more in tune as he doesn't really have the dexterity in his hands. So ridiculous to some maybe but it could be useful to others I reckon!
