1. Price: *SOLD* Originally from BassDirect and brought and shipped to Sweden, I then bought it in 2015 where it was advertised on LeftyBass. Has been my main bass since. I've played 20/30 gigs with it and all rehearsals in between, as such it's in what i'd call players condition. There are a few dings and chips on the bass, these were with the bass when I brought it so must of been done by the previous owner. I still have his original photos should you want to see them. It still looks very smart on stage and this is reflected in the price. I couldn't get on with the Bartolini pre that it came with so I had a Sadowsky pre installed professionally by Jaydee Custom Guitars in Birmingham. I have the original Bartolini pre and knobs so this can be professionally fitted back if you'd prefer or I can provide the Bartolini with the bass for an additional charge. The orange sticker denotes the live battery compartment, the Sadowsky pre is only 9v where as the Bart is 18v. Specs below; Swamp Ash Body Black/White/Black pickguard Pearlescent White finish Matching headstock option Maple one piece graphite reinforced neck Contoured neck/heel Rosewood fingerboard, 12" radius 21 frets Bone nut, 1 7/8" width at nut 35" scale Seymour Duncan 5 string pickups Full electrostatic shielding Hipshot ultralight tuners in chrome Instrument fully Pleck'd Weight: 9lb 4oz/4.2kg Does come with the Mike Lull gig bag but this is pretty beat up. Some of the zip tabs have broken off and stitching internally and externally is starting to fail in places (wouldn't recommend these Protec bags!). I can provide pictures if you want. Would prefer a straight sale but would consider trades for the right bass (4 string only please!) Any questions let me know, will take more pics on request! Located in Birmingham. Will ship at buyers risk and expense.
2. +1 on Bad Flowers, seen ‘em in Birmingham a few times around 5/6 years ago. I think they were called Greenwood Park back then, always put on a decent set though. I went to see Elder in Cov last night, 4th or 5th time I’ve seen them and they just keep getting better and better! Just mesmerising to watch, can’t get enough of them!
3. Price - £825 Up for sale is my Sandberg TT4 Passive with maple fingerboard. hardcore aged finish and black block inlays. The latter 2 being extra up-charges. It's also the Fender inspired old shape which is unobtainable from new now. Cracking bass, vintage style with a slight modern edge. A bit more zingy than the Fender stuff I've found. Handmade in Germany! It's in great nick, some slight blemishes on the back of the neck (pictured). The neck is close to a Fender B neck - Jazz width nut but slightly chunkier in the hand. The bass is on the heavier side. All Sandbergs get plek'd so super lower action is easier to achieve (I prefer it a bit higher, which is how it is now). I've got the hang tags and the receipt from when I collected it from the shop, those will be in the bag. I ordered it from PMT Birmingham at the tail end of 2012, got it March time 2013. Only gigged a handful of times as I'd moved up to 5 string soon after. It's pretty much been collecting dust in the bag since, hence the sale... it needs a new home! Will include the Sandberg gig bag in the sale. Would prefer collection but can post at buyers risk. South Birmingham UK based. No Trades Please. Price is negotiable. Happy to answer any questions! 😊
4. Bit of a stretch to say they’re ripping Gojira off IMO. OT: Saw Earthless on Sunday night, gutted I missed them earlier in the year but there wasn’t a b’ham date and I couldn’t make it to the other gigs. They made up for it though, Isaiah Mitchell is something else!
5. Another strike for DR from me, though I use Nickel Lo-Riders now I was a big user of Fat Beams a few years ago. Last an age too! Only downside I’ve found is that DRs are generally more pricey !
6. I saw Temperance Movement a couple of years ago and it was probably the best live sound I’ve heard from a bass. P bass & Hofner into a Fender Bassman stack with a REDDI. Was studio like clarity! Nick is a fantastic musician though, plays to the song brilliantly!
7. I love this album. Badbadnotgood are killer musicians!
8. Does anyone have any recommendations for Amp repair in Birmingham? I know there used to be a fella who worked out of PMT Brum who was the guy to go to but last I heard he got snatched up by Blackstar Amps a few years ago.
9.
Is this typical of arena shows, and just a fact of life given the acoustic constraints?
Pretty much, in my experience any show in a large-ish room can be hit or miss in terms of sound. Mostly miss for me at the Genting/NEC in particular though. The only decent mix I've actually been impressed with there was Black Sabbath earlier in the year, both shows sounded pretty much spot on for me!
10. Why not float your hand towards the old position when hitting those notes?
11.
It'd be a real opportunity missed if they ignore it
I dunno, it gives the album it's own "thing" (for better or worse). I'd be like re-recording the snare on St Anger all over. I think it'd take more away from the album than it would add. Fair play to them standing by the decisions they made back then, warts an' all. Going to the Birmingham date next week, looking forward to it!
12.
Hmm... E and A, I tend to pull down towards the floor; D and G I push up towards the ceiling. I've always thought it was a question of which direction gave me more fretboard to push/pull across! Frankly, if you're hitting the right pitches with your bends, who gives a monkey's?
That's the nail on the head really. Kinda makes sense to bend towards the middle of the fretboard as they'll be more room but I don't think it really matters either way. I've never given this a thought though, I didn't even realise there was a "wrong" way to some people!
13.
Cheap (for me) = no more than £50. Do most of these apps allow access to your music library?
Garage Band will let you run it in the background as will Amplitude. So you can just minimize the amp modelling app whilst still monitoring the audio and open up your music library to access songs you want to practice. I use a very old iRig and this is the way I practice with a drum machine app/metronome app
14. Ordered 1 of these after a Melvins gig on Friday (damn you Amazon!). First ever muff type pedal so don't really have any expectations but looking forward to giving it a go tomorrow at rehersals. Nice of 'em to give Sleep the nod with the little easter egg on the PCB though, classy move!
15.
My band uses Google calendar to keep track of gigs and member availability. Alongside it I run my own Google calendar which has personal stuff in. The band calendar entries are yellow and personal ones green, to avoid confusion. Personal entries will be detailed, e.g. "Weekend at bruv's" and corresponding band ones are vague, e.g. "Rich out". It works well and isn't at all unreadable.
Exactly what I do, works well! Doesn't really take long to add in 2 events either on me phone, couple of taps and it's all done! As for the OP, seems like a misunderstanding from both sides but OP spat the dummy out. Drummers response is reasonable to me, if it's not on the band website it's fair to assume it's not happening. No? I'd get a digital band calendar together where everyone can view and write the band plans together, cut out any misinformation.
16. I got under 25 too but i'm only 26
17. A vid for Heroes is out. I like it myself, though i'm a massive Motorhead fan!
18. I've got quite a few lined up at the minute, Lionize, Elder, Radio Moscow, Richie Kotzen, Foo Fighters, Bon Iver, Alter Bridge, Black Rebel Motorcycle Club, Metallica, Queens of the Stoneage, Opeth and Mastodon are all booked up. Melvins have just announced a tour so i'll probably go to that too, a busy few months.. and probably time I invested in some decent earplugs!
19. If the display on the pedal versions are anything like the display on the clip-on version that I use (which I think it is) then I'd try a TC Electronic Polytune 2 or 3 for sure. Really bright and clear, great tuner!
20.
Yep there's a mention of them in the Glasto thread. Are they short scale? They look about normal to me. Looks like a simple V/T arrangement on each bass too regardless of pickup config. Looks like he's running a full Fender backline too - cool. Noticed Mike Dirnt had exactly the same with Green Day at their show in Belfast on Wednesday past
From what I've seen, every other bass he's used has been a short scale so I assume they are. Plus they look really diddy to me in those photos Also pretty sure that he moved to a full Fender backline 'cause Ampeg GVT's are so hard to comeby, which is what he used before for the treble/octave up signal
21. Looks ace, love shoreline gold! Really unique too, grats!
22. Watched the set yesterday, really enjoyed it! Kinda hoping there's a tour on the cards!
23. Aye, I'm there for the full 5 days. Should be good, hoping for less hurricane like conditions than last year though!
