1. Harsh but kind of fair.
2. Interesting, thanks Dan. ped
3. I'm usually playing in passive, but if I need to I can flick a switch and make adjustments with the active circuit. My control cavity is pretty crowded!!
4. Interesting read. I wasn't aware that the GR20 was MIDI though, I thought it was the same as the Vbass in that each string is processed via the extra pickup and the unit processes that without any pitch to MIDI conversion at all. Everyone says the Vbass is MIDI because it uses a 13 pin connector but I thought the only time MIDI is involved is if you want to dump all your settings to an external device via the MIDI output. In terms of the actual unit signal chain, no MIDI, hence no latency on the Vbass unit, at least? ped
5. Have fixed your link to take you directly to the post ped
6. The problem with moving the pickup away from the bridge isn't latency, there is never any latency with the Vbass unit, but there may be tracking issues. Try it with some double sided tape, it may be fine.
7. Dang! I was lucky that mine JUST fits in the gap between my bridge and pickup, but it was touch and go, the only way to really see was to buy it and pray. I don't suppose you can move the bridge saddles back a tad, the pickup is very thin (less than 1cm I think) ped
8.
Some days that is the look I'm going for!
NO HIPPIES ON BASSCHAT
9. Depends on the rest of the bass. My worry would be that he would end up looking like a hippie. ped
10.
IIRC it was because he had a Pedulla bass .......... and welcome!
Yeah, my story is pretty cool too though. There was this whole thing of a quest across a volcanic dreamland fighting monsters and this little hairy midget following me and then I had to throw the bass into this mountain and stuff, but yeah, it's basically because I had a Pedulla bass.
11. I think there have been 4 Northampton bashes so far, actually Definitely up for another 'National' bash at some point. ped
12.
Welcome to Basschat. Your username is very similar to Ped who runs the site. Hopefully people won't mix you up!?!
I dunno, might mean less work for me!! Welcome Peds, what's the story behind the name? ped
13. I had the same setup a few years ago, IIRC my cab was two 8ohm inputs. The head was definitely 300W (12x25w?) ped
14. Superb effort everyone, really sorry I couldn't be there but you chaps do the site proud and have helped raise a lot of money for a needy cause, and best of all, made a bloody racket doing it. Massive thank you to everyone involved and to those who attended, I always say it but I think events like this really help the community feel of the forums, it's so much better to have met some of the avatars, so to speak. Well done and thanks very much ped
15. Nice, prefer that to the triangle one my 6er had. Almost tempted!!
16. V nice, had a 6 string like this a while back. What's the headstock shape? ped
17. I wonder if an enterprising basschatter would be able to add up an estimate of the value of gear sold through BC in say a month? Must be several thousands of pounds I reckon.
18. I'm closing Basschat
19. Did the fish bite your man hose?
20.
Put's a new meaning to Basschat
Why do you think I have been brushing up on my photography skills?
21. Hi mate If you collect and return I'll lend you my unit and bass to play with. I'll need it for the next few weeks but when i have a slot of a month or so with no bass requirement you can have a good old play with it. ...and my vbass! hooooo! ped
22. Sweet Matt.. I knew you were overcompensating when you were saying how happy you were with your gear at Bass Day You'll get used to 36", remember my Bacchus was 36" and I hardly noticed. Then again I am pretty skill
23. Looks great... nice to hear from another happy Vigier player. Let us know what Patrice says... ped
24. Very nice bass, looks clean, too. A friend had a similar bass and was told by Mr. Vigier that it was an early prototype of the current passion pickup layout with both pickups near the bridge. If you look carefully at the neck you should be able to see that the fingerboard is actually bonded to a brass laminate which runs underneath along the whole length of the neck - very unusual, but very stable and unique. Patrice Vigier said after working out how to bond these materials and get such a consistent sound that making a carbon neck was easy! Cheers ped
