I narrowed mine down to one fretted and one fretless - I found having more than one bass got to my OCD side because I always preferred one to the others and would always favour one bass. I liked the idea of having a Jazz, for example, on stand by should I ever need one, but I liked the idea of having 'my' bass and 'my' sound even more. I think if you have found that special one then you can bid a happy farewell to your basses past, knowing they helped shape your tastes and taught you a lot along the way, leaving you to focus on the one that sounds like 'you' cheers ped

They were recorded at a studio up in... wait for it... Blackpool (so not THAT local) by a guitarist who my brother went to uni with. We always go there because we all have a similar lack of taste in terms of music so we 'tear tha roof off' behind closed doors before forcing our 'elevator muzak' upon the unsuspecting, and largely undeserving masses. So no you won't know the guitarist, not unless you have thumbed the Yellow Pages for rent boys in the Lancaster area! pedro

Thanks mate I must admit that I felt a little disconnected from the fretless track and the one with the drum solo because they were written before I got to the studio so I didn't have any input. I wasn't able to get the whole week off work because my 6th form had exams the following few days! We always have great fun though so anything remotely musical that is produced is purely a bonus in my book!! Cheers ped

It's switchable. Really good piece of kit, I have an almost identical (albeit silver) model which is 400w a side.

I had two - an older jazz bass '02Strong' model which was a lovely heavy ash body and 36" scale. It was a superb bass, very resonant and full sounding. I got it from the Ishibashi 'U-box' a while ago for £700ish as a gamble, and it paid off. The only thing I wasn't so keen on was the fact the front of the body was flat so the inside of your right arm could get sore when playing standing. It was very Ken Smith like, rich and smooth. It didn't have the clout of the jazz and the body was alder which I didn't get on with so well... I think an ash version would have been a keeper. He found the Twentyfour for me in Japan and sent it over. The craftsmanship is top notch - the attention to detail is very high and I wholeheartedly recommend them alongside the usual suspects in the price range and above. Hi guys I am at the studio making some funky grooves with my brother (drums) and some ape on guitars/keys/brass. Here are a few clips of the unfinished tunes so you can hear the bass quite well. I am playing my Vigier fretted as usual and broke out the fretless twin for the last track. My brother is playing his Vdrums (td12) and the guitarist uses a pod X3 to desk - we are all in stereo so in total we send ALL the grooves to the desk through the sum total of 6 cables!! Amazing. Only last year we were spending hours micing up drums, cabs and all sorts. I am amazed with the results, the Vdrums are especially awesome - check the drum sound in the sort of soloiish bit below! This track was all about locking in with the drums, based on a groove we played with last time but never fully developed. The part at the end where the bass follows the 'vocal' kind of keyboard part was fun - I used a back pickup bias for that bit on a jazz bass model on the Vbass. The rest is clean Vigier with no messin' [url="http://dl-client.getdropbox.com/u/85432/USB%203/Sticky%20Situation.mp3"]http://dl-client.getdropbox.com/u/85432/US...20Situation.mp3[/url] This one was also from the 'lock into the bass drum' school and features some Spanish sounding horns in the middle! We spent the best part of an hour trying to match a keys sound I heard on a Bernie Worrell track but ended up liking what we have here. I used a rather over engineered solution called the 'bassmute' - I can't get a link because the work computer blocks anything remotely useful. It was a sort of rocker switch which engaged individual foam mutes on each string which were independently adjustable. It was a really useful bit of kit, I would have one on my main bass if there was any room behind the bridge pickup! Cheers ped

Um yes so what I meant to say is that I would be careful - if your fingers hurt that much then perhaps you need to look at your technique first, keep the movement minimal and smooth.

My fingers are soft and woman like but then I have my action so low that I put more strain on them by stroking Nellie. (she's my staffie btw, not a nickname for my 3rd leg!)

Only just started listening to Feat recently - Starting off with 'Feats Don't Fail Me Now' - fave tracks are 'Spanish Moon' and 'Skin It Back' - really love the grooves, kind of like an early more southern Steely Dan. Which album should I get next?

It has a sweet lazy groove to it. Really nice :0)
