1. I used to use a rack pod for my main monitoring system. The DI went to the PA and I had my IEMs coming from the pod to my lugoles. The first time I set it up wrong - plugging in the headphones engages 'studio' mode automatically, adjusting a few things (can't remember what now) and this threw me a bit. After I had it sorted and made myself a live patch which was pretty much clean, it worked brilliantly. So much so that I replaced it with the Roland Vbass which is similar but works better for me, but the end result is the same. With this kind of setup though you can pretty much guarantee your studio sound live - at least in your ears - the rest is up to the soundman. Cheers ped

6. I had a couple of Bacchus basses, you can see more info and pics on my 'My equipment' thread in the porn section. I really liked the basses, the Strong in particular. The 36" scale felt great, no problems with that at all. The bass was really resonant, it had superb growl and the build was superb. The only thing I didn't like was the lack of contour to the body which hurt my arm after a while when playing seated. In every other regard though, it was a top class bass. I had a Twentyfour bass for a while too but didn't like it as much, the bass sounded great but somehow didn't have the feel for me. I didn't get on so well with the alder body. Cheers ped
7. I play lightly. I'm a lover, not a fighter ;0)
8. Great, cheers Dan. I like the simplicity of this pre - no fancy lettering, just D800 and some volume knobs. Awesome. ped
9. No idea mate! I got it for £90. It's 800w (400w stereo), digital, weighs nothing and is totally silent. I bought it from a chap on eBay... actually come to think of it, the make is 'Starsound' I think but I can't find a manual or anything. The seller used it for a long time so maybe it is quite old. Cheers ped
10. Great, thanks for the info. It is chuffing loud! ped
11. The ones on the left (Bad,Normal,High quality) I think show the quality of the power source. It always says high quality. Maybe it refers to the skill of the player ;0) The next lights I am not sure about. The -15 lights up green when the amp is played at moderate volume. The lights dance upwards when I play but at pretty high volume the lights up to only -9. What do the numbers mean? Cheers ped
12.
Until last week I owned a Hayman 4040 - cousin to the Shergold. I'd say it was giggable in as much as I did use it for a gig. Lovely thing, beautifully made but, for me, a pig to play. Moved on to a more appreciative owner now. Here's some pics, anyway.
Never seen one of those before. Great looking thing!

LOL yeah the cabs sound fantastic mate. I am almost feeling better now, too. Back to work tomorrow, I think. Maybe I put this in the wrong thread?? ped P.s Josh that's just a fairly non offensive fleece but it does look a bit like a cape or something. Damn I should have worn a cape. And a headband.

Debated weather to post this or not but decided it was quite funny. I AM trying to look like a tool btw, and I don't have to try that hard.

Synth Pedals?

I use synths quite a bit, albeit usually in tandem with a clean bassline. The only song I have up online is the track here http://www.freewebs.com/mrped/facethemusic.htm Track '2001- biting the bullet' which was recorded though my 'stink synth' patch on a pod XT pro. Nowadays I am doing the same thing through a Vbass which is just a revelation for reasons I have stated elsewhere quite a lot - the polyphonic flawless tracking and the complete flexibility. Great fun!
19. I am over the moon with the way Elixirs last and sound, and I have learned the hard way that if it aint broke, don't fix it! Given my previous experiences with normal rotos I won't be checking them out!
20.
The Wife gave me a pair of beyerdynamic DTX 50's for Xmas, they rock. I have the eq flat on my ipod and they're grat from low to high.
yeah having the EQ flat is a must IMO because all the EQ settings are extreme. I haven't heard one pair of cans reproduce most bass heavy records without distortion on the 'rock' setting. Even so, after all the evolutions the iPod has had, I don't know what they haven't developed a user programmable EQ... or have they? I have only had a 4th gen iPod Video and an iPhone...
21. Very nice mate, where did the S1 come from? The Roland combo looks great too. ped
22. I have a similar setup - a 'noname' 400w a side stereo power amp, digital, which is the size and weight of a small 1u DVD player. I can play my bass right into that and from there into my SWR compact cabs, or plug the Vbass pedal into the poweramp, acting as a stereo pre-amp (but my clean setting is pretty much bypassed anyway!) Preamps? pah! Cheers ped
23. Hi Grumble. Are you the same Grumble that was on Bassworld? If not then there is another grumbler out there somewhere! Cheers and welcome ped
