1. No. I don't know yet! Haven't caught up with the night shift yet. Possibly didn't read the mods forum bit. All looks fine to me except that bit so ignore it for now!
2. tbh I don't remember reading and agreeing with that bit. Need to have a look at the state of play this evening as I'm busy all day.
3. I should think that if Alex has permission he can reproduce the review on his site or here, so maybe we can all see it when that is clarified.
4. This post cannot be displayed because it is in a forum which requires at least 1 post to view.
5.
All this sounds good, Ped. It seems that many problems seem to stem from non-observance of 'The Guidelines'. I'm thinking specifically about vendettas against mods, failure to 'agree to disagree'. Will the guidelines be amended and / or strengthened, maybe by an appropriate reference in the T&C's?
Hi mate, The whole structure needs to be - for want of a better word - 'dehumanised'. I agree that part of what we want to get away from is any degree of flexibility when it comes to the guidelines (so they will indeed be revamped and updated a bit for the sake of clarity) so everyone knows where they stand. For example, on Talkbass I got a warning for using a particular swear word and I simply had a notch added with a link to the guideline I had broken. It is much simpler and 'cleaner' and should mean we spend less time having to argue the toss with people who think they have been done a gross injustice! I really hope this isn't coming across as us wanting to tell you off more - quite the opposite. It is really to address shortcomings we should have foreseen a while back, but we didn't really anticipate such massive growth so quickly. Cheers, hope that answers your question, sort of? :0) ped
6. (no idea who these puffins are BTW)
7. I haven't myself but someone asked recently (maybe you can fine it using the admittedly sub par search system). IIRC the consensus was that they were well made but rather uncomfortable and the sound was described as quite 'brittle'. My friend had the guitar which was on the whole better received I think - the bass seems like an afterthought without the ground up design of the original guitars. But then again I might be wrong... again! ped
8. Well maybe I feel my subscription entitles me to exclusivity! Off to read a 'magazine' now! ped
9. Really nice site. I didn't get to try a 60s jazz kiwi had briefly so a bit ignorant when it comes to vintage fenders. I hope I can try some of these soon... Cheers ped
10.
Cool. Makes sense. I will have to use my 4 uber-insults carefully!
That you will!! Double barrel insults might provoke a double strike, depending on the severity! I might give you a strike back if you put some bleedin' clothes on!
11. Please let us know if there are any more questions, comments and ideas. I will be about to answer what I can (though I am not that good on the software side of things) and kiwi will be about on the 'nightshift' :0) Cheers Oh and thanks for the positive comments and support thus far.
12. Nope, it is a 5 strikes policy. You will know when you have used up a strike, believe me. But we won't be having to use it much I hope! The main thing was for me and Kiwi to get the rules set up for the new mods and revamp the T&Cs which came with the software and aren't tailored to fit our needs as much as we would like. As ever, if you have a problem, report the post to a moderator (not me or kiwi preferably because it short circuits the system) and it will be discussed and sorted - if a warning is to be given it will be made obvious to the individual being warned and simply contain the nature of the rule broken. We used to have a more relaxed and organic system where we could discuss at length various points and come to some sort of agreement, but with the size of the forum now it is becoming a grey area which soon will be a really clear and concise system. But hey - as long as we can all chill and enjoy ourselves, the main thing we want to do it free up some time to introduce some new features, offers, competitions, products and events for everyone to enjoy. ped

fresh meat!

Hi Dave, glad you made it. Lets see the bass!
14. Pretty sure I saw a set of 4 Genalex valves for £90 at one point because I nearly bought them as spares.
15. IIRC Kiwi had/has those Gold Lion ones in my ebay link in his Burman or his Trace, can't remember exactly...
16. The visual bias system is great, isn't it? As for KT88s I would recommend, well the original 'ruby' Chinese jobs lasted a long time so probably worth getting the same ones - a matches set of four would probably be fairly cheap. I also saw some of these http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Genalex-Gold-Lion-KT...93%3A1|294%3A50 a while ago which were far cheaper than this ebay listing so you might be able to hunt some down. In general though, with the visual bias, I would think any matched set of four would be worth a try, even some cheapo jobbies
17. Hi Steve, That used to be my combo. Loved it to bits and never had a problem with it at all, sorry to hear there is something up with it now. I hope it gets sorted easily.
18. OK guys lets leave it there... any more useful comments on topic?
19. Might be a simple thing like the wires touching the back of the speaker if there is some slack in them (this was the case on my hifi speakers)
20. A misunderstanding I think. If kiwi knew his post was going to be reacted to like this I think he would be the first to re word his queries/questions but as he is on the way to the other side of the world I guess he hasn't seen his pms (presuming the OP messaged kiwi) I would be interested to hear the 'scoop' on this unusual bass all the same. Pm me if you would like this thread 'cleaned up' Cheers Ped
21. I think Kiwi's post was more of a punt for information on the bass. It isn't like people are making fakes or anything, so I saw it as more of a comment on the unusual body shape, perhaps it is a prototype, etc? Cool looking bass though, good luck. ped
22. Just moved this to the proper forum! I should know better... Here is a bonus pic of the lads Cheers ped
23. Yep, roll up folks, this promises to be a classy and memorable event! Well done Steve for sorting it! Hope to be able to meet lots of you there.
