  1. I met an ex Take That bass player in Minster Lovell who was playing a pub and he had an identical bass. Yours looks beautiful. Action looks too high for me though ;0)
  2. But I think the actual SOUND comes from other things more than the player's technique. A Musicman sound, for example, cannot be achieved on anything else (apart from a V bass obviously lol)
  3. My heart says fingers but my head says that although they can alter the sound to some extent, they couldn't alter the sound as much as a pickup type/placement and the like, otherwise everyone would play the same bass.
  4. Hi Nik, You are a sufferer too eh? I have tried all kinds of hay fever tablets and none are working this year. I am never normally affected by it much, but '08 is giving me a rough ride!! I am sitting here typing with tissues bunged up my nose! You too?
  5. Very nice Peter - another box ticked! What's next on the list?

Blimey, what a beautiful sounding and looking bass.
  7. Really happy you love Marvin. I knew it would be a special instrument and it deserves a lifetime spot as someone's #1 bass.
  8. Cool, that looks the business. I really like the logo, too. Enjoy it! ped

  10. I think it has a certain groove to it... or more of an IMPLIED groove, which in itself is funky. Not very taken with the rest of the track but I like that 'sound' and might steal it for my own devices at some point!
  11. Unless you play them yourself, either is going to be a shot in the dark to a certain extent. I would recommend a day at the Gallery in London or something where you can play lots of basses and narrow it down. Its the only way to be sure! ped
  12. I will be there with my usual babies (pair of Vigier Passions as I am sure you are sick of by now) Thanks very much Nik and to everyone who helped with sorting a venue/time. Cheers ped
  13. I think this chap used to play violin, and can't for the life of me remember who he plays for.
  14. Could you not just hook them up via XLR to desk?

  16. No worries, thanks for the edit. Given up Yoga then?! ped
  17. The Yoga mats and sewing machine are probably not musically related. Stick them on ebay :0)
  18. Yep - in fact probably more than I thought. Mind you i don't sweat hardly at all, but i still managed a pack of Elites every few weeks before I switched. They are the cheapest strings you can buy - expensive at first, but the savings over time are immense.
  19. The heavier the string the tighter it will be. I have a .130 B brand new here if you would like it, just PM me your details. Cheers ped P.s - some people find the coating 'flakes' around the playing area but mine have never done this, I guess it is down to your technique (plectrum or not etc) and weather you sweat and so on. I love the fact that I no longer have to worry about dead strings which, for me, really really sap the enjoyment out of playing! P.p.s - worth noting that Elixir strings are patented - other makes like Diddario(sp?) and Warwick coat the string before wrapping it which essentially means there is crud in the string before you even put them on. Elixir coat afterwards so nothing gets in the windings at all.
