do you routinely add reverb to your sound ?
ped replied to essexbasscat's topic in General Discussion
Thanks for the comments guys :0) Just mucking around really I think reverb can easily muddy the sound if it is used across the whole frequency range - but if you have the ability on your 'verb to choose a band to apply the effect, you can get very tight bass with a subtle ambience that Urb mentioned. There are so many types and ways of controlling reverb (the Vbass has loads of options such as type, predelay, crossover, mix, tone etc etc) it can be hard to find what works, but when used carefully I think it really helps! ped -
Must have taken him 5 mins to come up with that!! Naah I'm joking, but I do prefer the look of the normal SR5. I think the new pointy shaped bass is quite nice in the right colour combo though. Not sure I would buy one (well, I wouldn't) but it's a bit different, at least. ped

I always have a touch of reverb - it really 'lifts' the sound out of the mix a bit I find. Only really subtle, and only above 3K Here is a sample which shows how subtle it is! I think the Vbass could cop that sound -in fact one of the presets sounds similar. Unfortunately that will requite a bit of woodwork or some rather heavy modification to work on your lovely little bass! ped
You also now have to specify how much you want for it in your post http://basschat.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=...mp;#entry691868
True. Price please or it'll have to go! ped

Excellent - and good for you setting one up. I'll be there depending on date and location (hopefully West London!!) with my usual stuff ped

To be honest nobody told me how to do anything, so as it was a one-off bunch of work, I'm just going to have to take the hit. I guess as it was technically a second job at the time I have been taxed rather heavily for it. They can take it all and kiss my arse. Not even fussed any more. You're damned if you do and damned if you don't, so I'm just enjoying myself.

unfortunately not - I did some freelance work for the BBC last year and I ended up doing more than I thought, in bits and pieces, and as a result didn't really put anything aside...

Or I have several jobs!

That's why they don't exist any more, son. ;0)

Basically it makes our lives as owners easier, means less problems and arguments and means that selling means selling for a price, like I would expect in a shop or basically anywhere remotely civilised! If you REALLY don't like it then you don't have to use BC to sell things - places like eBay have a bidding system which you may well prefer - but they also have tons of rules and policies to cover their own butts when inevitable problems arise from this type of selling, which I have no desire to host here on BC, to be honest. So it might be simple - perhaps too simple - but in all the years I have been running Basschat, I know it works and is the most straightfoward way to do things. ped

Strewth!! Maybe I need a new avatar!!

My word, I better have a hair cut. If that's what I really look like, no wonder I'm doing so badly with the ladies! ped

Really nice - I used to have a BB75 which was a great bass, very versatile. I remember the Carvin case smelling very strange - does yours, too?
-
Oh yeah I didn't notice that!! Well actually if I am being hyper critical I think I preferred the old shape 'plate, but it's a stunning bass and I bet it's very comfortable. ped

It's a difficult one. I am 'endorsed' by Vigier, but all it really means is I get a discount (not that I would ever be able to afford another) and I get my mug on their site, but because they are such a small 'company' it's just nice to be asked and I feel like a part of the family a little bit. I mean lots of people seek endorsements just so they can say they are endorsed as a badge of pride (I have a drummer friend who is the WORST for this!) and others actually rely on those endorsements for supplies (like Rich and Elixir strings). I think Xzantes is definitely right to walk away if the deal is pointless. ped

That's the nicest looking GB I have seen so far!

It's very handy to see what has been sold. Ta. Agree .... QUOTE (jake_tenfloors @ Dec 23 2009, 11:07 AM) * Totally agree with this. Especially if your trying to sell the same thing and want to try and work out the market value for it! Agree... QUOTE (gnasher1993 @ Dec 23 2009, 09:40 PM) * This is great. I really hate the PM for price style threads. It really winds me up. Totally disagree... with this one ... ----------------------------------------------------------------- Totally disagree with this one and it takes away from the sellers right!!! What ever happened to freedom and choice?? ... It seems that one person makes a recommendation and it law????? I think you should have the right to ask people to send a PM, If they want to know the price and if they are genuinely interested then they will either buy or make an offer on the bass... (it gets rid of the time wasters and tire kickers). As a bass community people should deal fairly and honestly, that is why basschat exists?? And if people are not given the freedom or choice to state their price or ask people to PM then you may find that basschatters may resort to not listing their regular and collectible basses and rather sell privately off the boards to friends and people they know. Also if we are on this subject.. I think that someone also need to address the issue of people posting nonsense and making un-related comments when your trying to sell a bass ... the amount of times I have seen bass forsale threads hijacked is way too many times to mention if a person is trying to sell a bass leave them be .... unless they are making a false or untrue statement... Just my 2 cents ...
I think that the new rule REDUCES time wasters and tyre kickers if anything. All too often the timewasters/tyre kickers are the sellers who ask for people to PM them for a price. At the end of the day the marketplace needs to be as open and clear as possible now that we have so many members and to be honest, if you are selling something, you need to publish a price to keep things above board and reduce the amount of problems people come to me with saying 'such and such said I could have it for such and such but then he said this and sold it for that to someone else' - granted it doesn't happen very often, but as I cannot get involved in any disputes, I want to keep things on a level playing field. You can always sell on eBay without a BIN price if you prefer, but then there are the fees and so forth. On the whole I think this will make things much better for the majority of users. ped

Thanks mate - having seen some of your pics that's quite a compliment!! I did start a Flickr group members thread here somewhere but can't find it now! ped
