The MXR takes a little more work to get it right, but it can be set to where you just don't know it's there and is nice as a subtle tool to round off the sound. I don't like the input sensitivity 'though, it seems I have to have it nearly maxed and my basses are not particularly low output... Dunno.
Nearly maxed? Mine is between 10 and 11 o clock on the input, between 1 and 2 o clock output. Have you tried it at different places in your effects chain?
2.
I've had one of these for a couple of years: https://totalsounds.co.uk/rocknroller-multi-cart-rmh1-mini-handtruck-p-4336.html Compact and sturdy. Means that I can travel on buses and trains with a full gigging rig. Highly recommended.
Goes well with markbass, not so much with Trace!
3. Ovnilab.com for all your compressor questions, spot on as fas as I can tell. I run an MXR bass compressor always on, but set more as a limiter. Get youtubing to hear what you DON'T want and make a choice from what's left.
4. Dear lord, it should be illegal to be this boring! After giving all songs in this thread a try I have the taste of cardboard in my mouth and a grey film over my eyes. Definately not for me.
5. Last Metallicker album I bought was the black album. I threw it out and never bought another. Every decade I'll listen to what they've been up to, sigh, shake my head and get on with life.

Spectacular looking bass! Glwts
7. Maybe work to relax your technique a bit more? 3 hours of physical excertion non-stop will strain any limb, good ergonomy is important. Make sure you hear yourself well enough so you don't have to force your playing any. Perhaps slightly longer rest may help too. Good luck!
8.
Talented but singing ruined it.
Seconded.
9. I'm on youtube but mostly watch cargeeks beat on rustbuckets. Not my cup of tea, this. Plenty of skill, lacking in good taste..
10. Linking retail price to quality/sound/playability is so passé.
11. If you like the tone, and you didn't force the pegs through the holes, you're fine.
12. 89-92 death metal Bolt Thrower (realm of chaos, war master), Obituary (slowly we rot), Paradise Lost (gothic, lost paradise), Entombed (left hand path).
13.
I've got a pair of ric hearing aids. They're sat in the cupboard with no batteries. I'm going to be looking in to see if I can get a pair that can double as IEMs. I know there are bluetooth ones that double as headphones.
Keep in mind hearing aids are designed and built primarily for speech. Not optimised for music generally, though some may get away with it none will sound as good as ones build for music.
14. Do they kill sustain when playing an open string?
15. As an alternative you could try variphone. I'm not sure they go under the same company name in the UK but dealers are found here: http://www.variphone.com/en/dealers
16.
Would a pair of old in-ear headphones protect me any ? What makes those metal ones that keep spamming me on Fbook any different
In-ear headphones are not made to keep sound pressure out. Get some that are designed for protecting your ears. They are cheaper and less painful in the long run.
17.
Interesting blog article by a Brit muso ; https://innerpieces....after-tinnitus/
Great write-up, better worded than I could have done! Also reminds us that hearing and everything associated with hearing is a bit subjective. What one finds hardly a problem for someone else is a panic situation. I'm hearing more positive feedback on TRT from professionals and patients alike, worth taking seriously. Good health everyone, don't let the bastards beat you down!
18. I like the reversed headstock! going to get old tuning it fast though I think. Nice colour too
19.
Mine are pretty good. What did all of you guys used to do before we had tuners?
Primary school
20. Dunk 'm in peanutbutter
21.
My basses don't go out of tune under normal circumstances - I let them settle when I arrive and we're setting up PA, etc, then check them before soundcheck. I can't remember the last time I had to re-tune during a gig.
This. I only play the SR5 live though.
22. Agree with all of the above. You get one set of ears for life, and they are damn hard to fix. Tinnitus is caused by a neurological problem: the brain is no longer receiving certain information from the inner ear, this is not normal so it decides to make some sh*t up, filling in the frequencies that have gone missing. Hearing aids are not like glasses. They do not compensate for a slack eardrum, they just try to make the most important frequencies loud enough so they can be perceived over the damaged parts of the hearing system. There's much more to tell but I've run out of time for now... Protect your hearing from sustained loud noises, always!
