The rehearsal place that I patron just kitted out a dozen of their rooms with V7s, replacing their old svt3s. These guys usually do their homework, if they trust the amps there must be something good about them. I played with one for 30 minutes, it seems to do all the ampeg sounds. No match for my Aguilar db750, but great if ampeg is your cup of tea.

Table salt is a good substitute for baking soda for this application.

The GR 350 combined with a mix of 112 or 210 cabs I think would be fine for all those scenarios. For instance the Darkglass 112 and 210 or two 112s. I am currently using the Dg 212 and it is more than capable in a metal band with a battleship drummer and two full stack guitarists. The amp doesn't need to go beyond 9 o'clock. Aguilar Tonehammer 500 could be worth looking at too. The GR looks very convenient but I haven't heard one live yet.

I'd take my bass to a store to try some pedals out first hand of I were you. Personally I didn't like the mxr drive/distortion pedals with my Spector or Stingray 5. I do like a Zvex like the distortron, a tube preamp like Verellen Meatsmoke, and am currently having a lot of fun with a RAT pedal.

Sealed cabs will explode obviously so make sure yours is ported. And keep it dry, a good flight case should do.

I'd check out the fender rumble or one of the Aguilar tonehammers in the For Sale section here. Amazing amps. But any time I was confronted with a TC something drastic went wrong with it so I'm hardly objective.

I use the preamp section of a tube amp, in pedal form. Always with active basses (EBMM/Spector). It has two discreet channels with gain,EQ,master each. What sound are you after, do you have examples? Ar you judging your sound in bedroom/solo or in band context?

Besides the IP theft each query takes a tonne of energy to process. Like a Cummins diesel rolling coal compared to a lean euro6 for a regular search engine query.

Any amp with around 17 heft will do.

Sounds like any of the Aguilar preamps could do this.
