  1. I was convinced this was going to be spam, based on the title.
  2. I have a Death Metal project where we play Tori Amos songs! We're called Torn Anus.
  3. I'm sorry for your loss. Whoever left you these must've been a person of great passion and dealt with his interests with intelligence. Regarding the Arnold Hoyer: apparently a German company that produced around the early 80s. There's a bit more info on them on German sites, like this ad: https://www.kleinanzeigen.de/s-anzeige/arnold-hoyer-sg-bass-shortscale/2629935523-74-7700 And a search on the German version of Bass Chat: https://www.bassic.de/search/1556726/?q=Hoyer&o=relevance
  4. Bring a sound engineer you trust and treat them like a member of the band. Or, make good friends with whoever the venue provided.
  5. From your link: "Every time you double the power output, you are increasing the level by 3dB." But also: "The established reference is 10dB for twice as loud in perception" among other claims. Quite the mess, and shows why it's better to use either only subjective terms or only objective but accurate terms.
  6. Loudness isn't measured in Watt. What do you mean by "twice as loud" ? From 80dB to 160dB or 83dB? Through what class of amp? To respond to the OP, try a better cab would be step one. See what gear people around you have that you can test, swapping one thing out at a time.
  7. You may be of that opinion ofcourse. Just odd that when you are presented with a few soundbites and are asked which you prefer, you launch in to debate rather than listen. The question is not which bass is best.
  8. Oh then how would this fare? Rather fun piece to play!
  9. Reading the description of the course, this song has some neat components that are mentioned: And was a big hit in the metal scene
  10. Never needed a backup so I won't bring a spare. Discuss with the band if, when and why you want to switch basses.
  11. In Metal I stumbled upon Tribulation this year, Swedish metal but very catchy! In Non-Metal I realised that many awesome tracks in cool movies were credit to The Heavy, catchy soul kinda stuff!
  12. Voted before watching the video, sorry edit: in the video the BB with both pickups takes second place.
  13. If you'd just call them by their name much of the 'confusion' would dissipate. Musicman, Sterling By Musicman. The Musicman Sterling bass also has a different neck profile than the stingray does. It's really not rocket surgery.
  14. In conclusion it turns out that yes, anyone can explain the Musicman Stingray series!
  15. Ernie Ball Musicman instruments are made in San Luis Obispo, California. Sterling By Musicman instruments are made in Indonesia I think. Maybe they get a QC and setup in the USA. Musicman makes an instrument called Sterling, this complicates things a bit, but that is to a Stingray like a fender jazz is to a precision.
  16. They've branched out and now make a range of products, from silicone spray to brake cleaner, and still make the original water deterrent.
  17. Motip, 3m, Griffon, kontakt Chemi, etc, etc, etc ... It's WD that's late to the party. My favourite: Woah that pic is way larger than it needs to be, sorry.
  18. Beyerdynamic 770 for closed back or 990 for open back are great headphones and there are aftermarket cushions available to further customise them. Can't go wrong there. The higher Ohmage ones are harder to drive well, for barely any improvement IMO. Akg m50 have a smaller but enthusiastic fan base. Sennheiser hd 25 for good on-ears, HD 300 for over ears or if you want to stretch a bit the HD 600 are fab.
  19. Not sure what your budget is and what accesoires your kid already has. +A set of straplocks is always great. Schaller, Dunlop, Loxx.. can't really go wrong with the name brands. +Behringer v-tone Bdi 21 pedal Always good to have a direct line to the mixing desk with a bit of your favourite sound. +A set of his favourite strings. +A nice guitar strap has been mentioned, I like Marusczyk padded straps. +D'Addario Guitar Maintenance Kit for Bass. Has every tool for setups to string changes. +Mono cases bass gig bag. The best way to protect a bass on the go that's also portable. Headphones for silent practice at home, a comfy padded stool, Focusrite Scarlett 2i2 audio interface for the computer, LESSONS or a workshop, a good guitar stand, Driver's license... So many things! I tried listing in ascending order of cost a bit. Oh last but not least, all bass players really really want one thing above all else... Another bass guitar.
  20. Loxx strap locks are the very best I've found over the decades. https://www.thomann.de/nl/loxx_security_lock_gd.htm?msclkid=e35230d12d7e14bb51b455a07292edd9&utm_source=bing&utm_medium=cpc&utm_campaign=Shopping NL&utm_term=4576167415641879&utm_content=GI Flat fit, strong, lasting and secure, no squeeking and faster to click on and off than the Grolsch washers.
  21. Cliff Burton and Rob Trujillo please
  22. I thought the original, while not as technically advanced, was at least a better experience. None of that 'classical music starts with class' snobbery, but just contemporary tunes for those that want to enjoy them!
  23. Planet of the apes but with a less developed group of humanoids?
  24. I'd sand the fender decal off but other than that it looks about 18% better than an actual fender
