2.
Paddy Ashdown Forest I have a few too many amps now it seems:
ooo 200w! cool andy
 3. Isn't that the bta 400? Beast!!!!!
 4. ive had alot of amps but even ones with loud fans like the Aguilar db750 or ampeg svt pro 8 never were so loud that as soon as anyone was playing the noise couldnt be heard. and more and more amps have the heat sensitive fans now so only come on when needed. andy
 5. i have a behringer mixing desk/usb interface cost about 69 quid, four channels with 2 having mic pre's it works really well! however have been looking at getting the akai eie interface but am happy with what i currently have andy

 9.
Spear guitars flextool.
thats crazy looking! andy
 10.
I think Justin Chancellor would disagree with you. Probably Jon Stockman too, and his legion of bass-playing fans! I think they use these effects pretty well to be fair though, though they both have pretty bright tones and it's often for high, melodic, textural parts.
This!
 11. love a little bit of reverb on bass, delay is really cool but wouldnt use it enough live to warrant one on the board. andy
 12.
Maybe the Source Audio Manta, EHX Enigma or Big John Obama Wah?
they seem a little more focused towards a wah, might be a case of getting one to try andy
 13. these are made in indonesia, as ive said above very impressed with the finish. andy
 14. sounds to me like its something to do with the preamp valves, but if its under warranty just send it back and get a new one would be my shout. however tho having had a 1000 for a while (only just moved it on) these amps are super reliable, so dnt assume just as this one has had problems your next one will breakdown on you, it could have had a bang in postage thats broke a tube. andy
 15.
This might sound like a dumb question but do these amps make bottom. The reason I ask is that a few of the SS amps I've tried that are supposed to emulate a valve amp have been extremely nasal in the mids. For example the Markbass TTE or the Ashdown Spyder. I've no need for overdriven tone at all but "hench" does have quite an appeal. Cheers.
is has alot of bass in it, and if you want more in a live context you can push in the deep switch which doesnt show on a recording but if your infront of the amp it just hits you in the chest! check out the videos above for some sound samples andy
 16. hi all well earlier this month i got myself the ctm-15 as a home a maybe a little amp for the studio, well i feel in love so much that i decided to get the big brother for my main rig, so i now have the ctm-100, first things first the finish is awesome, very well put together, nothing feels cheap to me. first thing i wanted to do was run it into my 810t mag cabinet, ill admit going from a 1000w bass terror i was a little scared about only having 100w of power, but i really had no need to be, this amp is loud! and has a nice warm sound lots of bottom end but its stays fairly clean but starts developing a bit of pre amp grind pretty early as you raise the gain, but id still say that most would have this a clean sound no trouble. as you get up into bringing the master up the grind turns into a really thick creamy overdrive, now this is where i would say that if you are in a very loud band and you want more cleanish headroom then the 300 is more for you, as i use dirt ontop of the amps grind thats not a problem for me. and on that note it takes effects really well! there is an effects loop if unlike me you use delays etc and its conveniently on the front of the amp no fumbling round the back to plug things in, but the amp responds really well to having a boost into it to drive it over the edge and also to my ears was very happy with fuzz and distortion. heres a few photos also have made a few videos showing of how it sounds driving the amp and also of my pedalboard which show how it handles the above effects https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bTnrmKPAHj4&list=UU2nph-mPlvZFfBPyj1ADc3Q https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eUMx-foXvLI&index=2&list=UU2nph-mPlvZFfBPyj1ADc3Q
 17.
My W&C tall font Russian is still the go to fuzz, with a BB preamp to boost it and an OC2 for synth fuzz magic. Still love the malekko diabolik, it's a great contrast to a muff... but it's all about the W&C
never tried the W&C! think if i got another fuzz my band my kill me tho! andy
 18.
Aha! The stereo returns are interesting - I could work a way with an A/B switch and plug all three outputs in... Hmmm Also - there's no issue defining where the bass comes from, each patch you create on the GR55 contains all the details, and when it runs the normal bass pickups both sides can essentially just output a mono signal - no need for stereo in patches you don't need it on. It's when you want to thicken up the sound: then it's handy, or a blend patch like the one I have for "let me entertain you" where I've got the top 3 strings of the 6 string doing a piano patch, the B and A strings are muted and the E string is pitch shifted up a semitone to an F: open E string plus chords on top 3 strings gives you bass and keyboard parts for the intro and middle sections! That's what I mean about flexibility - the power to fill in just enough, then the flip switch on that patch just punches out the piano and modelled bass and flips to the direct pickups, properly balanced for the rest of the song. It works really well!
i think what he meant was if your stood infront of you playing you might struggle to hear where its coming from ie left or right, it might just sound like a wash of sound, which would be similar to it just being mono. andy
 19. had a nice bit of " you bred raptors" this morning! andy
 20. In recent years I've gone from a mark bass lmt, to the swr headlite, but have to say every time I plugged into something like an svt or orange it made me long for tubes, tried to cure that with a terror bass, and tbh it really did work till I got a proper look at the ctm amps. Always had big cabs however, trace 1153, ampeg 610, orange 115 and 410 and now my ashdown 810
 21.
Hey all, So I've been tweaking my bass tone recently and there's a specific type of tone I've heard a few times that I can't figure out. Basically, it's really obvious in the verse of this Foo Fighters song: In the verse, about 34 seconds into the video. It has a very harmonic-rich 'ringing' tone, almost with a high overtone in the bass. It just sounds super rich and sweet, especially on those lower notes. I can't even really figure out how to describe that sort of tone, let alone how to go about achieving it! At first I thought it might be some kind of compression trick, but listening to compressors in action I can't hear anything that would hint at it being able to bring out that sort of sound! Any info or advice appreciated!
from listening id say thats a guitar probs Pat's and nate's bass (slightly dirty) playing the same riff not just the bass sound andy
 22.
the goal is power amp overdrive on the 15, not pre. they sound very different.
theres a big difference in low end response to my ears, not that the 15 doesnt have bass, but due to its size the 100 just has alot more! i forgot to take my 15 into the practice space so only have a recording of the 100, i dnt mess about with the eq but it breaks up awesomely when you push it! the 300 will have alot more clean headroom for sure but i really didnt need that much power. please ignore the bearded idiot at beginning and end https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eUMx-foXvLI&list=UU2nph-mPlvZFfBPyj1ADc3Q
 23. so saw this pedal in a andertons video and its got me thinking for a really small fuzz wah this might be cool. https://robertkeeley.com/shop/sfocato-fuzz-wah although even on guitar it seems to cut lows but thinking putting it in a clean blend might detract from the overall effect. anyone know any more bass friendly pedals that are similar? andy
 24.
There are two power tubes (EL84) and a 12AX7 as a phase inverter (only). I asked Ashdown and they answered, that the preamp section is only SS.
One of the best solid state pre amps I've heard then
 25.
Is that a port on the side? I'll be disappointed if it is.
Looks like it, was always having a port tho wasn't it? Isn't it meant to sound like a sealed cab but with the added pluses of being ported? I could be wrong of course
