1. So......another new bass for me, saw this little beauty and couldnt help but want it, for the small price of 150 quid. awesome looking thing, plays really nicely (may have to take the gloss of the neck tho but we will see) has an upgraded wiring loom ( Ki0gon wiring loom ) makes the tone control alot more useful to me. have got myself some new Dr fat beams, and also a seymour duncan quarter pounder so should be even more awesome when they get thrown on there! 2. bought a pbass from lozz, awesome guy to deal with and the packaging of the bass was amazing! was bomb proof! deal with confidence andy
3. just looks a bit ugly to me. andy
4. was really interested in this, and does seem strange that its totally gone. the price point didnt really worry me, but maybe not enough big pro muso's wanted it as lets be honest a normal pub gig guy really doesnt need an amp that big. maybe they have gone back to the drawing board for a redesign? andy
5.
I currently own 3 Ashdown amps: I have to say I think it's their speakers which let them down, these all sound incredible through my Barefaced cabs - full bodied but punchy and articulate as well. I once had the misfortune of gigging a Hartke HA3500 through an Ashdown MAG 8x10 cab - should have been plenty but the cab ruined the Hartke's sizzle completely. Worst rig I ever used, dare I say it was an Ampeg SVT stack, again the cab just sucked the life out of the tone so it was inaudible unless stood directly in front of it... Have never managed to successfully (IMO) gig an Ampeg rig actually....
now thats really interesting! for me the worst cab ive played thru was a really old laney 115 god awful, and the worst amp has to be an old behringer ultrabass however it saved the day after my ampeg head blew up! so cant hate it to bad but back to the cab, i really like my 810 mag, absolute steal at just over 430 quid! however mine is the newer version. andy
6. awesome idea! and will spend the evening going through and checking out the bands! heres mine https://www.facebook.com/SixSinstillSunday got a few video links and were also on reverbnation would be awesome if you guys could follow us there, if you like the music of course! http://www.reverbnation.com/sixsinstillsunday thanks to all who check us out! andy
7.
...... err, I'm actually 5'4". But I have had more of a fiddle with the Retro Two10. The two cab sound I'm getting is to die for. I'm getting the hang of this expectation thing.
well worth the extra trip to the car then.
8.
It's taken an obscenely long time for something like this to be put into production!
way to long! andy
9.
Our drummer *almost* summed it up well: "So this is bigger, heavier and sounds the same. Well done." To my ears it doesn't sound the same, it's got a hell of a lot more balls and bottom end, even when flat it is monstrous, and it doesn't run out of puff on the higher-volume gigs like yesterday's. The CTM is a fantastic amp but obviously when pushed it gets that valve clipping and squishing of the notes, which is lovely but not quite right for the majority of my gigs. I like the full blooded valve power section just before tipping point; the BTA achieves that where the CTM would on those occasions struggle. Don't get me wrong, the CTM is brilliant and is perfect for probably 60% of my gigs, the remaining 40% need the BTA though... Not convinced the band or the missus are too happy about that
nice, i do think that ashdown has a seriously good range of amps atm! covers all gigs really! im glad i decided to go for the 100 over the 300 as for the sound i need, lots of dirt and thick fuzz the 100 not having clean headroom isnt a problem, hell even the 15 through my 810 mic'd would be up to it i think. that 200 with the extras the bta brings to the table must be sweet! andy
10. im really happy with the ashdown 212 that i have, nice loud cab sounds really nice with my ctm 15 and 100 heads andy
11.
Paddy Ashdown Forest I have a few too many amps now it seems:
ooo 200w! cool andy
12. Isn't that the bta 400? Beast!!!!!
13. ive had alot of amps but even ones with loud fans like the Aguilar db750 or ampeg svt pro 8 never were so loud that as soon as anyone was playing the noise couldnt be heard. and more and more amps have the heat sensitive fans now so only come on when needed. andy
14. i have a behringer mixing desk/usb interface cost about 69 quid, four channels with 2 having mic pre's it works really well! however have been looking at getting the akai eie interface but am happy with what i currently have andy
15.
Thankyou my dude my first 5 string and already I've fallen in love with it!!
These are awesome basses, play like something twice there price at least!! Andy
16. Nice bass dude, sorry tho can't agree with the change in logo But glad your happy man
17. i use two diago power supplies, never let me down and with two i have alot of power on tap andy
18.
Spear guitars flextool.
thats crazy looking! andy
19.
I think Justin Chancellor would disagree with you. Probably Jon Stockman too, and his legion of bass-playing fans! I think they use these effects pretty well to be fair though, though they both have pretty bright tones and it's often for high, melodic, textural parts.
This!
20. love a little bit of reverb on bass, delay is really cool but wouldnt use it enough live to warrant one on the board. andy
21.
Maybe the Source Audio Manta, EHX Enigma or Big John Obama Wah?
they seem a little more focused towards a wah, might be a case of getting one to try andy
22. these are made in indonesia, as ive said above very impressed with the finish. andy
23. sounds to me like its something to do with the preamp valves, but if its under warranty just send it back and get a new one would be my shout. however tho having had a 1000 for a while (only just moved it on) these amps are super reliable, so dnt assume just as this one has had problems your next one will breakdown on you, it could have had a bang in postage thats broke a tube. andy
