id have walked up and gone sorry mate thats my bass and amp, if you dnt ask you dnt get to use! have been on gigs where peeps have just assumed they can use my full rig and sadly it was a youngster, when i said no they looked at me like i was being a idiot, dnt see why i should let them everything they need to play! if its been agreed before or they are sound and ask i will lend my amp cab etc but if you turn up with out a bass im sorry your not playing! if something goes wrong and i can help mid gig thats a bit dif! ive helped a guy out when his bass died and i lent him my bass and quickly stuck a capo on it, and he got me a beer and said a very heart felt thanks after there set! andy

not last night, but on friday my band played as main support to 101% Pantera! awesome gig all round from the good crowd and awesome ppl to play a show with! also the band that opened the show, Vipera are an awesome band people need to go check them out! andy

am i the only one that thinks its unfair to expect an out of town band to bring alot of ppl to a gig unless they are a well known or are beginning to get there name out there and be well known? if we have out of town bands playing with us i make it a point to promote the crap out of it! and try to get bodies in! not ask those bands to bring 10 ppl each, i would hope they would promote it themselves however its down to the local bands to draw in the crowd (as promoters very rarely these days actually promote) weve said no to gigs like this because we just wouldnt sell the tickets atm, andy

I've done a thread on something similar to this in the past, I wnt let a sound man take a di before my amp, as with my pedals it doesn't work, the signal needs to go thru my head and cab to sound like it should, if no way to mic it the I use the di from my head, but it's not from speaking with engineers at gigs a big deal to eq for a mic over di, and with fuzz sounds a mic is better IMO. i now use Daddario stainless steels but have used dunlop stainless steel sets for ages! made the switch due to being able to get the da's cheaper. andy

You might be able to get the guts of a bass wag of the internet and just do a switch Andy -

0175westwood29 replied to JamesFlashG's topic in Amps and Cabs
unless your running the master volume up high which from knowing how loud the 500w version of this head was i doubt you are, i would think that you will be just fine. andy -
Hey, sellisnba If you can trek to Plymouth, I'd recommend getting in contact with a guy named Ian Randell. He does AWESOME setups. He's mostly a guitar teacher by day (or night) but I'd recommend checking him out.
hes an awesome dude! andy

I was never able to find one I liked, until Tom from cog suggested an clone of the old boss chorus the old brown pedal. So you could try and look at on of those? But also the Tc corona with tone print could also be worth a try
-
the swollen pickle is a sick fuzz, if anything gives you more bottom end! however i will say maybe check out cog effects, the tarkin bass fuzz is sick! andy

thinking that it could give me a proper deep bass heavy sound and i have a spare bass aswell, so im happy to play that at home and get a feeling for them, however are flats likely be happy on my modulus? was also considering throwing a bit of money out on a squier vm p bass for them to go on. andy
-
Awesome basses, if you manage to get one that has the Duncan designed pickups aswell even better! And please don't do the headstock logo! Nothing wrong with having squier on the headstock ! Andy

toying with grabbing a sr506 at the minute! andy

so first practice with the pro steels yesterday, they've got a bit of bite to them very nice strings they really work well with the jazz. def looking at grabbing some flats i think as a trial for some darker sounds andy
-
hi all ive used dunlop 130-45 gauge steel strings for ages! and i fancy a change, ive ordered a set of d addario pro steels for my vm 5 string as i think they sound pretty nice but not scary different, but on my mody im thinking id want a more noticeable change. now as i play metal would flats be a really stupid idea? i use alot of fuzz and when i listen to juan alderete etc the fuzz sound is nice with flats, or would i be safer trying out some half wounds? andy
Here's one I knocked together quickly for you, 3 position pickup selector, and a direct to jack switch DPDT it's a bit sketchy (no values etc.) so let me know if you want more details etc.
yeh its a jazz, that idea looks spot on, and putting a adjustable resistor inline with the straight to the jack output to help take the brightness out of the signal, if i dnt like it. ill have a look a get the values of the current pots, but im not to bad with a soldering iron so i might give this a try if i can get the parts before the weekend! andy -
hi guys, mods feel free to move if this isnt the right place ive noticed recently that i only ever use my bass with all pickups on full or the neck pickup off, so rather than be able to set them as the pots need replacing im thinking of taking a page from the jaguar basses and changing the pot to an on of switch! and also adding a direct to jack switch aswell so the signal goes straight out of the bass ( yeh i know this might not be a massive difference but want to try it) does anyone out there know how to do this and what i would need to grab andy

Double Cabs are Louder ..or are they.
0175westwood29 replied to Chienmortbb's topic in Amps and Cabs
I'd say it's just a fact of more speakers which create the jump in volume, -
love mine! will never be sold! its sadly out of action at the min, has had a electrical problem that i havent had a chance to sort. mine cost me 1800 new so that price isnt to insane if anything they are probs going back up to nearly new price, as i saw one go for 900 last year, for me they were in trouble after they lost flea, however he was the reason i got mine. i have played a few basses that are double the mody and they dnt come close. which is even more of a plus for my squier vm 5er as that does actually keep up with it! andy
I had an Ampeg 610, but was mighty disappointed. I thought it would be a good compromise instead of an 810, but it was the most unmusical cab. Just sounded flat
thats interesting! i had the total opposite experiance with the ampeg, its def not a baby 810 it sounds a lot different for me it had alot of lows! and for me the tweeter was pointless! i eventually went for the ashdown mag 810 and cant speak highly enough of it! its got a big fat sound nice mid presence and it very easy to move around! so can only imagine a abm 610 being awesome! andy

well if your looking to make things a bit more crunchy id imagine you will need a small amount of dist in the pedal you get maybe a light overdrive is what you are after? the mesa flux drive is good for this at low gain it just adds a bit of hair and if you use the eq it adds a nice bit of bite! or depending on your amp you could use an eq pedal for a slight boost to the gain and treble, this will work better if you have an amp with a valve pre andy
