1. hi all ive used dunlop 130-45 gauge steel strings for ages! and i fancy a change, ive ordered a set of d addario pro steels for my vm 5 string as i think they sound pretty nice but not scary different, but on my mody im thinking id want a more noticeable change. now as i play metal would flats be a really stupid idea? i use alot of fuzz and when i listen to juan alderete etc the fuzz sound is nice with flats, or would i be safer trying out some half wounds? andy
2.
Here's one I knocked together quickly for you, 3 position pickup selector, and a direct to jack switch DPDT it's a bit sketchy (no values etc.) so let me know if you want more details etc.
yeh its a jazz, that idea looks spot on, and putting a adjustable resistor inline with the straight to the jack output to help take the brightness out of the signal, if i dnt like it. ill have a look a get the values of the current pots, but im not to bad with a soldering iron so i might give this a try if i can get the parts before the weekend! andy
3. hi guys, mods feel free to move if this isnt the right place ive noticed recently that i only ever use my bass with all pickups on full or the neck pickup off, so rather than be able to set them as the pots need replacing im thinking of taking a page from the jaguar basses and changing the pot to an on of switch! and also adding a direct to jack switch aswell so the signal goes straight out of the bass ( yeh i know this might not be a massive difference but want to try it) does anyone out there know how to do this and what i would need to grab andy
4. I'd say it's just a fact of more speakers which create the jump in volume,
5. love mine! will never be sold! its sadly out of action at the min, has had a electrical problem that i havent had a chance to sort. mine cost me 1800 new so that price isnt to insane if anything they are probs going back up to nearly new price, as i saw one go for 900 last year, for me they were in trouble after they lost flea, however he was the reason i got mine. i have played a few basses that are double the mody and they dnt come close. which is even more of a plus for my squier vm 5er as that does actually keep up with it! andy
6.
I had an Ampeg 610, but was mighty disappointed. I thought it would be a good compromise instead of an 810, but it was the most unmusical cab. Just sounded flat
thats interesting! i had the total opposite experiance with the ampeg, its def not a baby 810 it sounds a lot different for me it had alot of lows! and for me the tweeter was pointless! i eventually went for the ashdown mag 810 and cant speak highly enough of it! its got a big fat sound nice mid presence and it very easy to move around! so can only imagine a abm 610 being awesome! andy
7. well if your looking to make things a bit more crunchy id imagine you will need a small amount of dist in the pedal you get maybe a light overdrive is what you are after? the mesa flux drive is good for this at low gain it just adds a bit of hair and if you use the eq it adds a nice bit of bite! or depending on your amp you could use an eq pedal for a slight boost to the gain and treble, this will work better if you have an amp with a valve pre andy
8. my fave female players are Emma Anzai from sick puppies, Drog from die so fluid and a massive fan of tal! andy
9. videos of the whole range of lateral now on my youtube https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC2nph-mPlvZFfBPyj1ADc3Q
10. https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC2nph-mPlvZFfBPyj1ADc3Q link to my youtube lots of pedal reviews including the root all using the 810 andy
11. gave my singer a scare at the last gig as he just saw me in the crowd caught his eye and for a sec he was like wtf!!! then he rem i had got the wireless!
12.
Pics? Sound clips? Any chance?
sadly no sound clips, but there are alot on the net however. i believe its a full valve pre and a solid state power section as it feels a bit light to have valves there aswell! andy
13. if you like the orange ad200 an easy switch would be to grab a bass terror, the di is nice in the head aswell. andy
14. final got around to recording and editing some of the videos! only one more to go! heres the "Root" https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T3d7Ha7Ktbk the "Spore" https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JisTXXNZ99k and the "Primer" https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=En3x0L7WSXQ remember dont judge the playing to harshly! lol andy
15. I'd be tempted to put it at the end of everything so if you want you could add delay to any effect/ sound you have, However there are no right or wrong places so give it a try
16. i have found that its pretty hard to beat a nice mic infront of a cabinet, however a good cab sim would be ok. on a recent recording we tried using the di and mixing it with the mic signal but the mic alone sounded best. andy
17. Well the helio is def going on the board, such a sub heavy fuzz, really like it gives a dif sound to the cog Tarkin, Did a video so ppl can hear it as well Andy
18. You could maybe look at the lateral sound "primer" its a very cool pedal, has the low pass filter nailed and sounds pretty snythy with a bit of dirt. Andy
19. will def give my thoughts and probs hopefully if it turns up tomoz, (he got delayed sending it) do a video of it really excited! fuzz is taking over with me at the min! not a bad thing but if this works out ill more than likely have 3 fuzz's on my board! andy
20. id be up for this! im in south brent so only about 30 mins from exeter, bit of a nightmare meeting at mansons, dnt know the hotel but somewhere with a reasonable size room that doesnt mind some noise seems like a plan! depending on gigging and work i could probs bring my rig, definatly be able to bring my board tho so if ppl were looking to try out some cog stuff etc andy
21.
I've had a few direct from fuzzrocious and yeah it takes a while and there is import tax. Depends on what options you pick though, hand painted takes the longest but I think I read that Sharon is doing pedals full time now so maybe that gap has closed a bit. Joespedals.com has some fuzzrocious stuff in the UK, I've ordered from him and it was great!
dude thats awesome! just grabbed the heliotropic! also! such a nice site! lots of good brands! wait untill i get paid and i might raid that site lol! :-) thanks again! andy
22. also i do realise there a small business and cant help a waiting time.
23. Really wanting to try one of these but doesnt seem to be any for sale in th uk, i see a few of his other pedals around on the site so how did you get them and how long? as im not really looking to order a 200 quid get charged import tax aswell as a fee for international shipping and wait 3 months ish for a pedal i wanna try. is there anyone stocking his stuff over here? or is there something similar thats available over here? andy
24. the thing for me which is most important is that i need to be able to get on with the person! regardless of music i need to be able to hangout with them, then we can start thinking about music, as my band are originals the music thing is a bit easier, can they write a tune, for a guitarist my pet hate is ppl who dnt have a tuner! andy
