hi all! [sharedmedia=core:attachments:161174] basically ive just done my tax return and will be getting a nice chunk of monies so thinking i might upgrade a few bit on my board! the heart of my board and going nowhere! is my COG Effects custom " Red 5" which covers my reverb, chorus, octave and fuzz. i also have my Mesa flux drive which covers my more grindy low end overdrive needs, and from Lateral Sounds ive got the Root distortion which covers my high gain crunch (basically filth) sounds. however here we come to pedals im thinking of upgrading, as my rack eq died and i was using that to cut everything below 20hz going to my amp (we tune to d standard and lower) as some protection for the speakers,so thinking of grabbing a boss eq to deal with that. but i also have a boss limiter to squash things a bit and take of the peaks to again protect the amp no this was what i thought could be replaced. my ideas straight of are the aguilar comp, the Earthquaker devices Warden, or the mxr comp now there a bit of a difference in price and the earthquaker being the cheapest but also seems to give a little bit more with it having a tone knob to dial in a bit more which i kind like the idea of, this would be on all the time. any thoughts welcome. andy

finally got to use this in a full band context on sunday! everything sits really nice, need to get used to having an octave pedal again but each effect is very good! the versatility of the fuzz is what i love can go to knarly treble fizz to quite frankly ridiculous subs! its a beast! plain and simple! andy
Nice bass tone! On the Root pedal, can you leave the lows clean and only distort highs?
not totally clean, but the girth control lets you keep alot of the low end. andy

NBD - Squier Vintage Modified Jazz Bass V
0175westwood29 replied to discreet's topic in Bass Guitars
love mine to bits! it takes alot of abuse, it also takes the tuning i very well which is down a whole step but i have the low b tuned to c. sound it might not quite match up to the mody but for out of town shows with limited room in the van i have no problem using it, as it plays really nicely and i have always had a soft spot for jazz basses, and when as discreet said you put them up against the same price fender i just could warrant the extra 1300 quid for the fender. also from memory when buying one, people really need to stop changing logos to fender one, its a pointless stupid thing to do. andy -
Bass and drums have the best mix on this! Well done for getting bass heard properly in metal!
thanks man! andy

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4jdTG7XHTX0 theres a link to a page where you can hear the final mix of " open your eyes" signal path was my 5 string into a lateral sounds Root into my orange then into the ashdown 810t no di needed! andy

just a quick bump to get people looking at this again, really proud of how the ep sounds, its not for everyone music wise and the bass sound def isnt everyones cup of tea but i love it! andy

pretty sure that in that clip he just using the big morley power wah, with a slight dirty tone, when he toes down the wah theres a big treble boost. shouldnt take much really to get close just a bit of noodling, also remember hes playing thru an svt and a 810 so some of the tones coming from that. andy

anyone use the earthquaker devices "warden" ? currently using the boss limiter ( i know its not really a compressor) andy
They look great! I would have added a mini switch to choose from TC´s own preset or TonePrint option (2 in 1). But the TonePrint option means that the possibilities are endless (if they share the same internal organs as their big brothers).
Just watched video on youtube from andertons with tor, and they have the same inerds some have more features than there bigger brothers. Andy
So looking forward to my T65 and chorus in one pedal. Tom says may be ready end of June. Everyone on here seems to be really pleased with their pedals. Cannot wait to join the club
you wnt be disappointed! if the chorus is similar to the on in my "red 5" will be awesome best chorus ive used by far andy

really trying to resist the urges to buy more dirt and fuzz pedals! (subscribing to" pedals and effects" on youtube wasnt a smart move) my new cog effects pedal is giving some pretty ridiculous dirt sounds when you combine the tarkin and mesa flux drive, however i also have the lateral sounds root, so i have no need for more dirt, yet i cant stop looking at the earthquaker devices page! andy -
In praise of the humble Boss TU tuners
0175westwood29 replied to Roger2611's topic in General Discussion
I upgraded from a tu 2 to a 3, no reason really the 2 id had for about 6 years. The tu3 is a bit quicker ( a tiny bit) handles the low a tuning and can supply i think its up to 7 boss pedals?! And its got a brighter led for viewing in direct sunlight. Our guitarist tho has the mooer copy of the polytune and it works like a charm -
hope i get paid in time very cool pedals in there! and for a very good cause! andy

All into a Crown XLS1500 Drivecore through an Ampeg 8x10
Love my t-65 nice board Andy
New boards Just waiting on some daisy chains to power the thing! Possibly replacing the Trem and OC3 with a COG version
nice board! having had a boss oc-3 for me the cog t-65 i have is a killer replacement. im also interested in adding a trem think im gonna try the boss trem first tho andy -
orange ad200b with 2 810's :-) andy

not tried the brands you have, but alot of people will say thats it is wrong to add a different speaker size and the sound waves will be all wrong and that you might damage the 12/10 speaker, imo use your ears i used to have a hartke setup that i had a 115 and 112 cabs worked really well sounded very nice, the 12 added a certain bite to the sound not alot of increase in volume. andy

theres also the behringer pn-2 copy if you dnt wanna try and pay silly money. andy

i think once you know its only 2 then maybe your inclined to look at them differently, have listened to a fair bit of there stuff now and imo its not boring theres different combos of sounds yes he does go to the high 12th a lot but i actually like that, plus as has been said they would just be another 3 piece rock band. also my tv wasnt great for the sound, so maybe worth listening with headphones as my tv lost alot of the bass so didnt sound as good. will def grab the album when i get paid later next month andy
