1.
Not for me 810s.... The Aguilar one apperantly weighs 184lb thats over 13 stone....
the mags manageable at 67kg andy
2. can also add my views in, have to wait till thursday to try the 810 out in anger with the guys but never sounded muddy to my ears in the shop, there was a darker more bass heavy sound which i liked. why is it you want to change to the abm? they go very cheap secondhand on ebay maybe grab one and do a a/b? andy
3. just as a bit of advice would you guys put a boost pedal in the loop? so it avoids the pre amp? unless you wanted to add a bit more gain to add more grit andy
4.
You should get yourself an Ashdown James Lomenzo Hyperdrive. It's got a frequency scroller and you can choose where in the mix you want the distortion to sit while still retaining the lows. Other OD's have the same tool but the Lomezo is probably the most inexpensive option (SH). The bands I've seen/heard with the best overdriven bass sounds tend to embrace the fact that they're going to lose bottom end and really pile on the grit and work with the guitars and keys to create a great BAND sound. Personally, 'a touch of grit' does nothing. You may as well just use a heavy playing style. For 'grit' to work, you need a cranked valve amp. Using pedals, you gotta spade the drive on and work to find a mix with the rest of the band that works. In my opinion. Truckstop
agree with this you do seem to need more than what you think, what is it you dnt like about the blackstar?
5. first gig with it will be on the 8th of march, but got recording and a practice before that so ill report back with how it fairs. andy
6. so i bit the bullet and got a mag 810t, but in the newer tolex finish, didnt fancy a carpet covered one, even tho they were much cheaper. played it for about 15mins in the shop with a ad200b very loud and very fat! nice and bass heavy so will sound very nice, with my terror and board of effects. andy
7.
Now that looks very interesting. Does the frequency splitter work well for bass?
yeh works very well, you can dial in some nice high gain fizz or have a fat dirty bottom end with not alot of high distortion and get a nice stoner rock sound, was really surprised by the range of the tone control tho, makes it super usable. andy
8. got one of these today! awesome little dirt box, independent high and low gain controls so you can have the lows distort more than he highs etc, a nice tone control with a massive sweep, and a pretty hefty level boost if you want it about 12 o clock is unison. http://lateralsound.com/pedals/root/ so much dirt is on my board now! but this was worth it and it made by a guy in the uk. also Jon from lateral is sending me a few more of his pedals on loan to try out with my bass rig and make a few videos with. andy
9. ah just read through and saw it doesnt have a clean through! dam!
10. on the thread i started it seems peeps are wondering why its so heavy, however they sound pretty brutal but im gonna stick with the tb1000 for a little bit andy
11. sorry im still not buying! rhcp are big enough to not have to do sh*t they dnt want to! like miming! end of! andy
12.
Is the Nintendo jobby a COG pedal? If so, which one?
yeh think its a boss ls-2 clone but better andy
13.
I would imagine it is more than likely that all instruments involved in that show were pre-recorded and Flea was poking fun at this by unplugging his transmitter alltogether. The bassist with Bruno Mars had a wireless transmitted plugged in and he clearly wasn't creating the bass heard. Same with Josh. Flea on more than one occasion has preached about bands playing live before and I imagine he was pissed at having to fake it, as it were.
however he was still miming, to make a point that hes angry surely doing that just made him look stupid, i dnt like oasis but this was a good way of hating miming notice that theres something odd about liam. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oUTL2jSRIgE andy
14. grabbing one of these. wondering if anyone else has one in there rig, my rig has a rack eq doing the job of a thumpinator cutting out anything below 25hz, i did think this might cut away the use of this pedal but when using a pitch shifter you can def still feel those lows 2 octaves down, so looking forward to getting it. might grab a di box aswell later so if we do a gig with a big pa i can run the blue box straight into it. andy
15. my old rig of a aguilar db750 and a 610hlf was my fav rig for ages, love my terror and 410obc but im hoping the new rig of a orange thunderverb 200 and an 810 cab will be my new fav! andy
16. nice version, nice and epic but for me that solo was good but it wasnt page. andy
17.
I realised today that the amount of pedals I've had to sell over the last 6 months is unacceptable! Plus, I have waaaaay too many out on loan with people! That said, it's time to put a new board together for 2014! This is what's currently at hand... Watch this space!
need a few more from tom dude andy
18. edited now added my head, looking to trade for a thunderverb 200
19.
So adding an extra pre-amp takes the weight up by 15Kg? This amp looks like a Marketing-driven clusterf***. All the worst features of both the AD200 and the OTB in one neat, over-priced package.
ill admit its heavy, when you say worst features? andy
20.
The PSA-230es is rated at 200ma, if the Mooer is 128ma (I haven't checked), with your other pedals, you're probably approaching 150ma in total?! This, in my experience, is where noise and weirdness starts to get introduced as you run out of power to draw from. Think of MA headroom as wattage........you wouldn't run your 200watt amp at 200watts, it's going to start crapping out My rule of thumb is to have half of my supplies rating spare, considering I use a 5amp Gig-rig on one board and a 1amp T-rex on another, I genuinely keep things quiet Si
totally forgot about this! this will defiantly not be helping, ill also suggest the diago power supplies really quiet and very good value! andy
21.
Technology today should maor that pointless and cheaper. The 1000watt OTB is what, 6 kilos? Proof will be in the pudding though, hopefully these will appear in the flesh soon.
true however the terror only has 2 pre amp tubes, the ob1k has basically 2 pre amps it appears, and thats where the weight has come from is my guess. andy
22.
Willing part x with terror bass :-)
got nothing spare to go on top dude thats the problem :-( andy
23. so wish i had the money spare for this!
24.
Yeh putting the mooer just after the tuner has helped Andy thanks But to improve the the signal to noise ratio, would a buffer be worth it? And the gig rig?
the boss tuner has a buffer in it so i would think that wont be necessary, in fact seeing as you have three boss pedals i wouldnt be worried about a buffer. are you supplying the mooer from the supply out of the tu-2? or on the same daisy chain as the rest? andy
