I still have all of my old vinyl and a good quality record deck, I dig it out from time to time but I find it a pain in the backside nowadays, half of the records jump, are warped or crackle horribly....it is much easier to have all the songs on the media player and play them via a decent sound card straight to the hifi. The records have recently moved out of the living room for the first time in 20 years, we are revamping the room in the new year at which point the record deck will move upstairs to my playroom to. It's a shame as I used to love playing my records.

I messaged the seller, his response is below: I passed on your message to my Father who has responded as follows. “Thanks for your comments. I bought this guitar from a well known and upstanding music shop in Mesa Arizona. I was informed that this was a genuine 1969 Fender Precision bass. It was a long time ago and was given an absolute guarantee it was the genuine article. I did have some paperwork but that disappeared years ago. I do remember questioning the bridge and was told that the previous owner had drilled a couple of extra holes to add strength to the fixing. The tuners are original as bought as was the neck with its allen key adjustment. The nut is positioned absolutely correctly but I changed it myself to a black graphite nut as, at the time, I thought it looked better in black. I have checked the neckplate and serial number with Fender and believe that it is absolutely accurate for a ‘69 USA Precision Bass. I hope this answers your questions. You are more than welcome to inspect this bass guitar which is located in North Yorkshire.” I think the seller genuinely believes it is the real deal.

It looks very shaky to me, the ill fitting nut, the uniform direction of scratching to the neck plate, the incorrect truss rod adjuster etc etc. the whole thing looks like an amateur attempt to defraud, what worries me is the description from a seller with 100% feedback across 1900 transactions, he suggests he knows where it came from and where it has been for 22 years plus, either this is a very early attempt at a dodgy precision copy and the seller and his father were genuinely had over or it is a blatant lie

Selling a bass for more than you thought reasonable
Roger2611 replied to Grangur's topic in eBay - Weird and Wonderful
I have an amp for sale on Ebay at the moment, I have listed at £100 start price I have been offered £500 in PX from PMT but they don't have the amp I want, I will withdraw it from Ebay on Saturday evening if it hasn't attracted any bids, I can't run the risk of it fetching nothing, I sold a Peavey Firebass head and Peavey Black window loaded 4x10 and 1x15 stack a couple of years back, the amp was basically new...I let it run thinking it would hit the £500 mark in the last few minutes...it didn't and I ended up getting £220 for the lot...the guy who collected it said it was the best bargain he had ever got....so I don't think it is necessarily true that items find their true value -
Allowing someone to use your bass at a gig.

I had to lend my back up bass to a support band who thought they had had theirs stolen from the back of the car when loading out from the previous days festival....he looked after mine really well...it subsequently turned out that he had got totally hammered at the previous days festival and had given the bass to his girlfriend to look after...she took it home with her and forgot to mention the fact the following day! -
I found no difference really - but then I'm an 'everything-on-full-all-the-time' kind of guy.
Exactly the same for me, I fitted a set of Lindy Fralin's at the same time, still don't like the sound of the bass
How aboot this https://www.youtube....h?v=70aANO8GPm0 It get's a mention here: http://www.premiergu...retboard_Design
I quite like that idea but I bet it has a big impact on the sound of the bass

Our drummer was admitted to hospital with heart concerns earlier in the year, then I broke my arm......your not our guitarist in disguise are you? No you can't be you didn't mention your singer being seconded to Japan for three months taking us out until Christmas. It's ok we already have 24 gigs booked in for next year. Don't worry you will get gigging in the end

https://soundcloud.c...emo-by-yodaclub Hi guys after a year or more in the making (we have been busy writing and gigging as well) we finally have our first demo track done, I think this is the best original stuff I have played on in more than 30 years of playing. Please have a listen and comment if you see fit, if you like it we are on face book and are working towards 100.000 likes this year......we are currently at 125 so we have a way to go Rog

Tips for learning how to do backing vocals while playing
Roger2611 replied to BassYerbouti's topic in General Discussion
Practice , practice and even more practice .
As above, I have learnt to do some for our band, once I knew the bassline so well that I couldn't get it wrong then practicing backing vox was a bit easier, however there are still some songs that I cannot play without a pick if I am doing backing vox! -
I think you can just look at this forum to see that a great bass doesn't have to be an expensive bass, there is a lot of love on here for Bass Collection basses and Squire VM basses, personally I regularly gig an £80 battered half to death, Squier Mike Dirnt Precision, brought purely because a few people on here raved about how good they are....they were completely correct, it is as good and giggable as any of the far more expensive basses I own, in fact on two occasions only someone has come up after a gig and said "wow your bass sounded awesome" both gigs were with the Mike Dirnt Squier !

I am looking out for a used Fretless sunburst Stingray / Sterling but I don't want to spend a load of money on one, I have looked at the Sterling CA34 but it doesn't look like there are sunbursts in the UK at the moment

We played a wedding anniversary last year and the couple wanted "You Spin Me Round" by Dead or Alive, I worked the bass line out on bass but couldn't get it to sound right so I worked it out on my Micro Korg, I played it on the night it sounded great and I really enjoyed it, I now try to work out all of our original song bass lines on the synth just to see how they sound

They interviewed a doctor on radio 5 the other year who was very successful at getting people to quit smoking, his biggest tip was "don't use patches or any Nicotine replacement tools, Nicotine is what keeps you addicted, so you decide to quit smoking all filled with will power, you stick the patches on so the craving goes away, 3 months down the line you ween yourself off the patches only to find the cravings return but the will power has long since gone" I guess it does make sense if you think about it. For me I quit cold turkey about six years ago (or three more basses ago ) Just give up for a while you can always take it up again in the future if you so desire!

this looks definitely like a Fake Fender
Roger2611 replied to Shonks's topic in eBay - Weird and Wonderful
I have already made the seller aware it is not genuine, he has not removed it, I have also reported it to Ebay and they have thus far not removed it either -
I had a package delivered last week, left with someone down the road who I don't even know and to top it all not even a card through the door, it was a good thing my neighbour was honest otherwise I would never have seen it.....I assume this was the new 3rd class mail system where they just drop the package off in the general postcode area and walk away

I have just installed a set of Fralin 5% overwounds in my Jazz bass, they sound fantastic, I was looking at selling the bass as I just couldn't get a sound I liked from it, the Fralins have transformed the bass, it has more power and bite but has a proper full range sound to it. I highly recommend them

I think the defret is a good idea (I have actually been looking at a Musicman Sub and a defret myself purely because there are no affordable fretless examples out there at the moment) I already have a plain board fretless Precision but I recently played a lined fretless JD Custom bass and was amazed how much easier the lines actually make it even though the way to play a fretless properly is by ear rather than looking at your finger positions. I say go for it
