1. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Gretsch-Anniversary-Special-Limited-Edition-better-than-new-/221548011330?pt=UK_Musical_Instruments_Guitars_CV&hash=item33954a5f42 I am not normally big on gold guitars and actually haven't lusted after a six string for a good few years now but boy did that change when I saw this!
2. I got through to Golden [s]balls[/s] ears but then my head fell off
3.
Jeez - 1st World Problems or what???? You got a free album and to the best of my knowledge no-one has died because of it. What are you going to do when something REALLY horrible happens to you Like a Cliff Richard album appearing on your phone
excellent
4. I have already messaged the seller to tell him it is not a genuine neck, he came back to me saying he would remove the listing, then put it back up as a USA neck again...negative feedback just waiting to happen if someone buys it
5. Excellent
6. Perfect storage for the good old 7" single, 200 to be precise
7. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Musicman-Ernie-Ball-StingRay-5-String-Bass-/121431335939?pt=UK_Musical_Instruments_Guitars_CV&hash=item1c45df2403 Just seen this on Evilbay, I didn't know they used a 4 bolt neck and bullet truss rod?
8. We play 2x45 plus a couple of three encores, most pubs pay £250 for that round here, we did a working mens club this year that demanded 3x45 for the same £250, the place was always empty anyway...after the last gig there this year they said "can we book you for three gigs next year"....we politely declined
9. It should be a decent playing Japanese made instrument, I bet it will be a bit of a heavyweight though
10. Go on then...expand on the Hmmmm
11. Back brakingly beautiful!
12. The lovely Mesa Boogie 1516E and what looks like a Trace Elliot Twin Valve is exactly the same set up I gigged for years and hence reminds me of exactly why my back is burgered
13. I worked with them when they played the Roadmender in Northampton back in 1986ish when they had their original singer, they were the only band I worked with that beat me on the Pool table, cracking bunch of guys from memory
14. I always rehearse the set at home on the day then have a short nap to ensure the practice session has sunk in.....I read somewhere that it is a great learning technique....I think the chap that wrote it was also selling snake oil.....but you never know!
15. Hi and welcome, from a personal prospective from your list I would probably go for the Musicman Sub as it has a good tonal range and a decent sized neck but, for the price of a new Sub, you would be able to pick up a good number of higher quality second hand basses i.e a USA Musicman Sub, Mexican Fender Precisions or Jazz's, Japanese Bass Collections and Ibanez Soundgear basses yo name but a few, I would visit you local music shop and play what you like to look of, decide on a style you like and are comfortable with then possibly look for a used one.....bear in mind you will also want an amp of some kind as practicing with an unplugged electric bass is hardly inspiring
16. I love to try new things, I come from a punk / indie back ground, I can do that with my eyes shut but I am drawn to anything that expands my musical knowledge and ability (except slapping I have to draw the line somewhere, I am crap at it anyway)
17. It's funny thinking about it, I started on guitar but wanted to play the bass so I have spent my entire bass playing career being drawn to "lead bassists" Pino, Peter Hook, Stuart Morrow to name but a few yet I never had any desire to be a lead guitarist.......I guess I am just weird I just love the bass being at the front of the mix, in the limelight I guess
18. Oooh I am in Northampton...I could collect but Mrs2611 has put her foot down and said no....saying "you already have an EUB and you don't play that"....I hate it when she's right
19.
John is the man, such a clever bloke, have you seen his circuit that fits in a p bass with no need for a battery and charges through the jack socket, simple yet genius! Did you go one or two band Roger, I have the 2 eq in my classic as it was missing something with the ebmm one or maybe even a faulty preamp as I got it in a trade.
3 band with the swept mid eq
20. From memory one of our fellow Baschatters "sold" one last year for £10 (I think he said it was free to whoever wanted it but someone insisted he take a tenner for it)
21. I don't think he actually wants to sell it, even if I was close enough to collect I don't think I would want to do business with a seller that comes across that unfriendly
22. Very good price, cracking basses
23. Nice to see Milk and Alcohol in there but I would like to have seen Wilco playing Roxette in there as well but overall a good set of songs (I would have had to put Johnny B Good at top spot for me though)
24. I would agree, I think it as all Dearmond with a dodgy Yamaha sticker applied for some unknown reason
25. I have just put a John East preamp and Delano Alnico pickup in my Sterling Sterling, it has totally transformed the bass, lots of growl and bite that was lacking from all of my previous Stingrays .....highly recommended it cost me £200 (the pickup was second hand off this fine site) If the OP is ever in the Northampton area you are welcome to come and give it a blast, I promise you will be impressed
