I have no problem switching between a musicman and a jazz, though i'd reccommend trying first to see how you cope.

Someone got a bargain...
budget bassist replied to mathewsanchez's topic in eBay - Weird and Wonderful
Yeah, some people are going nuts, i think it's a case of if there's not somebody that's found their dream bass then it'll go cheap, but by the looks of it there are some people that have just really found the bass they've been looking for... Maybe, i don't know. They're worth £850 though i know that. -
Sadly...SOLD warwick streamer LX in honey violin.

I'd say they were more precision than jazz, having a SUB bass (same neck dimensions as a stingray) and a jazz bass, and the musicman neck is CONSIDERABLY chunkier. very precision like. As for the neck finish, i'd say anything before the mid 90's... Check this site out, it will tell you a lot more than any of us lot can about finishes etc.

How original is this?
budget bassist replied to Jean-Luc Pickguard's topic in eBay - Weird and Wonderful
Some people just buy basses and keep them in their cases for occasions such as this, make a bit of cash, ya know. Or in the case of mr 57 basses, maybe it just wan't his go to bass -
Try ebay. Never tried one, but they aren't exactly new

Fender Squier Custom Neck???
budget bassist replied to mike257's topic in eBay - Weird and Wonderful
The guy has decent feedback and it says it's from a squier more than once... why would that give you (or anybody) the idea that it's from a fender? His feedback isn't bad either... -

Cleaning the manky crap from basses
budget bassist replied to arabassist's topic in General Discussion
I find i get a good shine on pretty much anything painted (body, back of neck etc) with lemon oil and it feels pretty sweet on the back of the neck, but it doesn't last long, takes off grime and fingerprints though. Can't say i've tried it on my textured finished SUB basses though, i don't really need to. Brings the oiled finish on my tobias out pretty nicely too. -
I agree... But take a look in Basses for sale.. Buy a Bass one week...'Its the best Bass i have ever played..' Next week its for sale...'i cant get on with a five..' Buys a Jazz Bass the week after.. The following week...'Testing the water' I fancy a Musicman...' Jazz FS/FT' The next week.. Then notices a guy on You tube getting a decent sound from a P bass. 'Feeler' Musicman F/S or will trade for a P bass. Blah blah blah. That dont seem Personal to me...Just GAS..which is fine. But murder trying to do business with all that going on. Garry
While that's true for some people (and i was a little like that recently trying to find the right bass) i think i've got a pretty good combination going on now and i can't see myself selling them any time soon. but for a lot of people on here they only have one or two basses and they're really special to them. If it ever came to me selling my red SUB bass you'd know it would be desperate times for me.

Yeah what those guys said. Plus have you ever tried selling some gear you were attached to? It's hard and sometimes people change their minds. Particularly in the current financial climate, some people are having to sell their basses that they're attached to because they need the money, whether it's for bills, or they've been laid off etc and they're not sure whether they can get away without selling their basses or not. You know what i mean? They're quite personal bits of kit if you think about it and it requires a bit more thought than say an ipod or an amp to sell one.

Yeah we've already seen your auction, have to say, good idea! Good luck finding your bass

Looks pretty sweet, black is definitely the way to go i think
My old thrown together Status/homemade Bass would take 2 years, and that was a 18v...My EMG'd fretless is the same...saying that my old 9v Ibanez from 84 like a fresh one once a year, but I often just run that in Passive mode. I prefer 18v circuits, just do,I just feel more confident with them, though onstage...its psycological superstition on my part methinks.
I dont think 18V ones last longer... they just have more output...

Ahh that's not bad, i could do with a pair for my tobias, ta! EDIT: could he have made that website harder to navigate??
You're right, it's not that much shorter than a normal bass, but it's SO much lighter, and in it's gig bag it's literally just like a big stick. I don't drive, and i'm just too long in the tooth these days to be humping heavy gear around on the bus, bearing in mind that the bass itself isn't the only thing that i need to carry. Also, i usually play Fender/Rick, and call me paranoid, but the streets and buses where i live just ain't safe these days to be carrying expensive gear around, especially with rather obvious logos on big cases that attract attention. I honestly didn't think this "contraption" would sound as good as it does, but i thought i'd take a chance and buy it anyway, and i'm genuinelly chuffed, especially at the price. Cheers, Jake M
Fair play if it's handy for you, personally i don't mind sticking any of my basses in a gig bag with some decent shoulder straps, but i am only 17 and none of my basses are particularly expensive.

badass on the way from bass parts resource
budget bassist replied to ahpook's topic in Accessories and Misc
+1 on what bigred said, it only took me about 15 minutes to file the saddles on mine, it was pretty much fine before i did it, but the fact that the strings weren't lined up with the pole pieces properly was bugging me a little. It was easy enough to do though. -
I'm using goldring DR100s, pretty nice sound and quite comfortable, though i wouldn't use them on the bus or anything where other people don't want to hear what i'm listening to.
