1. damn... i want a maple board on my jazz now!
2. Hmm, keep an eye out, i've seen a couple of maple jazz necks on there before, and i've only really looked a handful of times. Alternatively you could go on the mightymite site, get some contact details and just ask them who their UK distributer/dealer is.
3. It is kinda boring. Kauri is beautiful i forget what that NZ guitar builder that uses it is called though...
4.
Nothing happens up here, except eBay scams Now that I can actually play some tunes, perhaps I could organise a NE Scotland Bass Bash... hmm.
I'm sure all three of you would have a great time! Haha i joke. I do want to move to london though, maybe go to uni there, i love how much there is to do there and just the general feel of the place. Nottingham isn't too bad, but i just really like london, it's a totally different place to anywhere else i've been to.
5. bumpty dumpty
6. More than anything i find it's WHERE the amp is, not WHAT the bass/strings are. I've had this before in certain places. I got it at college in one of their practice rooms, but the bass didn't do it anywhere else. I also got it when i was moving house and i was playing bass in my bedroom which at this point was pretty much totally empty, but it didn't do it before. Have you tried moving your amp to a different room?
7.
I've never really liked the look of Zebrano. I think it looks tacky, especially on a copy. Might look ok on a nice bespoke bass though...
Copy? That's a gibson mate But no, i'd never even buy a thunderbird to begin with, least of all that one!
8. Oh dear >_< That's pretty cool though, having a bass that's made of wood thousands of years old with an inlay from an animal that lived thousands of years ago, it's a cool thought i guess.
9. Wow! That's a beauty!!
10. I don't mind gear sharing so much, but only my amp, it was cheap, it'a fairly powerful, i'm fairly confident nobody is going to break it and i've spilt a whole pint of coke over it before and it's fine. That's not to say people are careful with it. Are they f***! I usually end up letting everyone on the night use my amp because NOBODY where i live has a decent amp seriously! I suppose it's the price i pay for having the drummer (who helps organise the gigs) give me a lift to practice/the gig sometimes, but it still pisses me off when i see people turning it up way too loud or red lining it or just generally abusing it... And they do it surprisingly often! (i'm gonna wrap it up now cos i'm getting worked up!) Nobody plays my basses though, not for the actual show anyway. If they want to just noodle for a minute before/after the show, fine, but not during the show, no way. I'm letting my rhythm guitarist, who i do trust a fair bit, borrow my les paul on friday night for a gig, and i'm still wary about that! As far as me borrowing kit though, i wouldn't want someone damaging my stuff, so i try and be as careful as i can be with other people's stuff.
11. ah ok then, i'm a bit of a newbie to this skinny string lark!
12.
They don't call you Budget Bassist for nothing do they?
Haha indeed
13. I'd like some ABM cabs, if only becausei prefer the vinyl covering!
14. if i'd noticed this thread earlier, i'd have said if you can't HEAR clipping, then that's probably why the clip LED isn't illuminating. Really you should do this sort of thing with your ears and just use the the clip LED as a guide. If it sounds fine, then it's fine. Your eyes can trick your ears, trust me on this. I've been in the studio before playing with EQ settings and thinking i'm hearing subtle differences, then noticing the EQ is turned off! Just something to bear in mind.
15. bassassin is the guy for japcrap, BigRedX is the guy for weird and wonderful
16. Ah ok then thanks. I think the second switch may be for reverb... but there's no switch on the front of the amp for that
17. mm, that would be tasty if it had a more J style neck. Interesting place for the jack socket too, looks pretty cool! good luck selling mate
18. grats on the bass, she looks a beaut
19. haha that too
20. £400 for such a pretty USA made jazz is a good price either way from what it seems.
21. damn >_<, is that the RF2 by any chance?
22. I don't think you need to go into any detail about that rick, most of us have heard it all before! I must say though, i'm rather envious!
23. £500-£600ish? one of the more desirable colours but fairly common. One went for £488 the other day on ebay, you might get lucky and pick up one up on the cheap.
