2. I'll be willing to bet that someone, somewhere, would be willing to pay that.
3.
After recieving a cowardly offensive PM from budget bassist , i want to know what is wrong with the title thread, it says the bass is a vintage modified squire precision which it is, if you want to verify this call the bass gallery in camden & speak to them.
How was my post cowardly? And it was hardly offensive, i was trying to help you sell your bass but whatever mate, i could have said it all in this thread but thought it was inappropriate, your call. And what's wrong with the title? You're trying to pass it off as a vintage 1951 fender/squier. Which it isn't. Or you're at least trying to garner attention with the words "vintage" and "fender", and where on earth did 1951 come from?
4. is that compressor any good for live bass use or just studio?
5.
Nice bass too, as for the young lady, got a telephone No.?
+1
6.
A black phenolic fretboard (or Ebony) would look better than (what looks like) a Rosewood one
+1, that would be a huge improvement. And yeah it's rosewood
7.
I don't mean to disagree with anything that's been said really but I have had good service in Denmark Street. My son was looking for a Gibson Firebird and, of course, nowhere had one - except for Vintage and Rare. They were happy to chat and let him play for a good 40 minutes on a 1990 custom shop Firebird which was about twice the price he was going to pay. This was even though we'd made it clear we were not going to be buying anything. And this on a Saturday afternoon when they were quite busy. So I think it's not everywhere in Denmark Street.
Yeah, it's definitely not everywhere. I went into the shop that had the sid vicious bass and the guy in there was very friendly and helpful and was just like "take a look around, if you wanna try anything out just let me know!", thoroughly nice guy.
Could it be that the guy was just trying to be friendly and making a joke? If someone comes up to me and told me something i found amusing i would certainly make a joke or light hearted comment about it. Its a common thing in my world. Seems to me its a sport around here to bash the BC. To me it looks like they only have to pronounce a word wrong for there to be a long thread about it. And yet people still go in there, its like they are looking for something to moan about (no offence meant to the OP) I feel they really cant win around here and a lot of people here seem to just side with the OP's straight away. Whats the big deal with the comment made? Was it said with venom? was it said in a nasty way? Bet it wasn't. Just because he made that comment how do we know his Bass knowledge is lacking? I slagged them off in the past due to one or two incidents but have had very good service from them (over the telephone at least) just recently. Had a chat about my needs and got some advice that i checked out and was true. I'll wait to be banned from this thread now.
I disagree. Some people, such as yourself, may have had good service there. But as you said it, you've had bad incidents there too, my point is, it shouldn't happen AT ALL... EVER. How can you expect to sell instruments by being rude to the customers? I would like to go in there again with a big wad of cash next time i want to buy something, and when they're rude to me, i'll just wave the cash in front of their faces and tell them where to go and i'll go spend the money elsewhere. I'd just love to see the looks on their faces.
8. Ok thanks for that Do you know of any good websites for this sort of thing? And i'll be sure to post photos if you like!
9. Damn... that's not something you should say to a customer is it? If it was me i'd have properly kicked off at him for that. I hope that place closes down, i really do.
10. I don't own a car but my basses are worth more than the car that i might have if i could afford one (i paid about £1100 for them, worth about £1800ish new?)
11. Basically i have a guitar amp (i know i know it's not bass but i might venture into the bass FX building world some time) and there's a footswitch jack at the back but no footswitch, and being able to switch channels like that would be very handy for me. My dad is going to give me a hand with the electronics side of things, but i need to find a case for it. Is there a UK based website that supplies pedal components? I know of a couple in the USA but no UK based ones. I've had a look on maplin and had a quick search on here and found a diecast aluminium enclosure (GU62S) and it's 112mm long by 62mm wide and 30mm deep, and i was wondering, would that be deep enough to accomodate this sort of thing? It says the body of the switch is 21mm deep and the box is 27mm deep inside so i'm guessing that should be alright, but would there be enough room to solder any necessary contacts on? I'm just wondering if there's anywhere else that sells anything slightly more appropriate for my application? I'd rather have something a bit more hefty, say about 15mm x 15mm by about 40mm-50mm deep, but maplin don't seem to do that sort of thing i don't think. Also i'd like to know in case i fancy building anything in the future. Sorry if that was a bit long winded!
12.
I have heard good things about these and I had one of the VMJ jazzes myself. However, can I possibly advise you to change the thread title? I am sure you will make no fans once it is apparent your 51 Fender is actually a 2008 Squier. Other than that...nice bass. Paul.
+1, nice bass, good luck with the sale, just for god's sake, change the thread title, this isn't ebay you know.
13. Lose the tort pickguard for a black one and barts and you've got a stonking looking bass there!
14. He appears to have been tipped off, that or he's been browsing basschat, bumped his BIN up to £150, didn't know you could do that.
15. looks quite nice, looks kinda like a cort curbow, but not as ugly! Strange thing to say about fretwear though
16. I tried an epi EB-3, it was totally unplayable and it sounded like mud. Of course it may have been poorly set up, and i like a nice punchy active sound, you might well like what i call mud. The only way to really find out is to try one.
17. i guess if it's pickup only he's no scammer.
18. That's pretty cool looking I want to get a cheapy squier bass and do some mods to it
19. if that's a gotoh 201, that's a very good price!
20. That's one sweet looking rick!
21. Not ebay but a stonking combo for a stonking price (£229 or £200 for B-stock with 1 year warranty, 3 free sets of strings and free delivery). Just thought i'd give you guys a bit of a heads up, i bought one of these in about february this year for £280 new and they're fantastic sounding combos. Here's the link. EDIT: someone appears to have already snapped up the B-stock, good on them!
22. IIRC i think a basschatter actually wrote that more detailed review. I remember someone buying a sh*tty ERB off ebay just for the neck for a custom project. I'd never go near a 10 string for under say £600 anyway. I mean, that's not even a high end 4 string really!
23. You'll probably find it easier to sell the bass with the lane poors but £400 for both sounds like a good offer for them, one that you may not get again.
24.
I think they're rubbish
D'oh!
25. In my previous band we used (now forgive me for my lack of teminology) these stands that had four lights on top each different colours and plugged them into a simple 1U controller and that was it. We sometimes had a laser set up too but that wasn't ours and we had no idea how it worked. To be honest though that was enough, nobody really complained about a lack of decent lights. Though i do have a big old vintage light controller that's probably about 25 or 30 years old that i used on one occasion that was very good. I have a load of old light boxes stockpiled somewhere as well but i never got the chance to use the, point is unless you want a light show better than the band you dont really need to spend a lot.
