1. Hey, is the Subterranea one of the early models with the noise fault? and if so did it get sent in to fix?
2. If you are willing to put the money down, the best power supply (imo) is the gigrig system. Its a modular system based around the generator, which supplies 5amp (5,000ma), then i would suggest forgoing the distributors, and using a normal daisy chain to connect isolators, and various adapters together. I think you'll need timelord adapters for both your strymon pedals. This way you can continue growing your board without having to worry about outgrowing your power supply.
3. My votes this month are for agwin, rikki and skol.
4.
Got mine today. It's deep.
In normal filter/eq terms, what do the coloured pots do?
5.
I use the strong industrial Velcro (the brand) type. The adhesive is very, very strong and I couldn't forsee it ever failing. I have had it stick over rubbed feet and still be stickier than ever.
This. I can lift my board up by one pedal, and I swear that it'll get to the point where I can't before the Velcro gives out.
6. I would prefer it alot more if the a strings tuning peg had its button below its spool, instead of above. So the e and a string pegs werent so far apart. Not sure if this would be possible though, as it and the d strings peg would probably be sharing too small a space.
7. I just noticed that thomann are selling Harley Benton b-stock. They might have moved all the decos there?

Pedal order
Only 4 pedals - how many do I need ?
All of them.
9. I think that advancements in technology will lead to new and interesting types of effects that wouldn't even be possible beforehand. Take my favourite type of effect, the bitcrusher. It is a side effect of how ADDA conversation works. Personally I am excited about what quantum computing will bring.
10. I think that the availability of decent (well definitely playable/usable) music equipment can only be a good thing. How could more people being able to start to make music (and in more genres to boot) be a bad thing? Especially when it's now also easier to reach people that will listen to whatever neash genre you want to make. Also, there still can be that hunt for new music, that just takes place on the internet instead of in record stores.
11. So just to sum up, are there any issues that taping up the patch pot and changing patches with midi would cure?
12.
If my lottery numbers come up tomorrow a Tap-A-Whirl and a Chase Bliss Gravitas will be in my shopping basket in about 30 seconds flat. The Tap-A-Phase looks similarly fun.
I have a Chase Bliss gravitas, Wombtone and Warped Vinyl. All hooked up to the modified midibox. The gravitas and Warped Vinyl are definite keepers, I might move on the Wombtone, but mainly because I don't think a phaser is for me. The amount of control on all of them is amazing, I'm even thinking of getting a tonal recall next month when it comes out to test against my time factor.
13. well, i decided to record and upload what i had in mind. (its here) I pressed record on my DAW, pressed record on my looper (which started the hihat sound i use for a metronome), recorded the loop, and set it to repeat, then changed some pedal settings and started playing over the top. The only edits i made in post where to cut out the silence at the start, and cut the tails down at the end so it was under 1min. No edits done to any time i was playing a note. I'll enter it if people are okay with that, but don't want to ruin this for others so am happy to withdraw it if popular opinion deams so.
14.
Look what you've done!!
I… I dont know… I am now debating weather to make my entry or not. With all this backlash i'm not sure that it's wise.
15.
Good questions! In response: 1) If using a looper it's perfectly fine to edit the recording to the 60 seconds (or less) that you want to enter into the challenge. Similarly, it's fine to record a longer noodle and just cut out a section that you like. 2) Hmmm... this one's tricky. I like the idea - but for the time being let's stick to it being bass of the stringed variety rather than anything MIDI or synth-based. Instead, I'd maybe use the approach you suggest to enter something into the monthly Composition Challenge where innovative MIDI shenanigans are very welcome indeed 3) Of course! Perfectly fine. It's also ok to include a basic metronome or similar click track in your final recording if you like (eg. a hi hat pattern). Especially if you're playing something particularly rhythmic 'in the pocket'.
Thanks for answering. I didn't really expect the answers to be yes to all of them, just wanted to see what i could/could not do. Ill probably have something up tomorow.
16. I have some rules questions. First, if i use a looper, do i have to set up/record the loop within the 60 seconds, or can i cut down the audio in post so that i don't have 20 seconds of setup at the start? I would upload the longer version alongside so its clear im doing it all in 1 take. Second, Can i use a bass to midi converter (like a sonuus B2M) to trigger notes on something else (my gameboy)? i think how i want to put this is, do the notes that i play need to go through my pickups? Third, My looper pedal doesn't have a click/metronome drum pattern, can i use the basic kick snare kick snare pattern for timekeeping? (i could turn it off after i've recorded the loop)
17. Are we speaking rotating stage, or everyone spining round individually?
18.
A filter with an ADSR-style triggered sweep (the filter off the old 24v Bass Micro Synth would be ideal) plus expression control of the stop frequency and OK let's have MIDI CC control on it too, why not. Or a small MIDI foot controller with a couple of onboard LFOs, say, half a dozen momentary footswitches, all programmable using a scripting language (maybe a Node.js module) so they can do program changes, CCs modulated in various ways, sequenced patterns etc. I was busy building that based on an Arduino chip last summer but then I bought a knackered house and I haven't unpacked anything since last September.
I would buy (or at least GAS over) both of them.
19. Realistic: An ADSR envelope filter with midi sync (with like 1/1, 1/2, 1/4, etc choices for each). With a choice of filters between LPF, BPF, HPF, Comb, Formant. Fantasy: A single or double switch sized phrase looper with midi sync.
20.
For anyone that was following this thread - looks like this is the replacement for the BSW!
Wow, i was just noodling that same song. GAS.
21.
What ?
A formant filter applies vocal filtering to a signal. Like a vocoder/talkbox, but instead of a mic/tube changing the instruments sound it uses maths. Like the difference between a bandpass filter and a wah pedal. But with vowels instead of a single frequency. I think this pedal changes the settings on its filter (what 'words' your bass will say) based on your envelope.
22. Its basically a formant filter with the settings set by the envelope isn't it?
