1. Also, for those struggling to picture what these might sound like, think flogging molly meets megadeath.
2. Living in NI, ive heard my share of punk/metal/folk(or trad as its called here) bands. Seams most musicians growing up here learn music by playing at trad sessions, and then venture into more rock based genres. I see the logic behind merging them, working with a CDG structure and having the guitarist noodle on more folk'ey scales instead of blues. Bonus points for a mandola/fiddle. As for the pop/alternative part, most bands here seem to have at least 2 covers of a newer kings of leon song. Seams odd that they dont go for the earlier stuff, as that has a more folk/rock mix to begin with.
3. Im trying to convince myself that i dont really want one.
4. On my MS60b i use a pre>amp sim as a always on light OD/amp sim. my settings are Bassdrive: Bass(0), Trebl(0), Prese(7), Gain (70), Blend(61), Level(34), Mid(8) into B-man: Bass(0), Mid(8), Trebl(0), Mid_F(250hz), Gain(45), Level(58), Deep(off), Cab(BM4x12), Mix(50) I am a bit of a bedroom worrior at the moment, so in a band situation i might lower the mix/mids on the paradriver, and up the b-man's Mid_F to about 350 (depending on what sounds the guitarist(s) have). Also, i'm pretty sure the algorithms are the same for the b3, ms60b, and b1on.
5. I also recommend getting a modern zoom multiFX (b3, ms60b, or b1on). Also a bitcrusher. Bitcrushers are fun.
6.
Keep having to talk myself out of buying a 6er...
Do it. 6ers are fun.
7. My 'go to' bass is a 6er tuned BEADGC, and now when I play a guitar it takes me a second to adjust. I really like having 6 strings tuned to 4ths though, things like 2 octave runs in the same position feel really natural.
8. Don't know how to get the most played on my robotic OSed phone, but the recent played are all Honey Is Cool albums and podcasts. Slightly off topic but is there any good bass related podcasts I should be listening to?
9.

Thats one beautiful pedal.
10. Try them all. Maybe use any other suggestions as a jumping off point, but i can't stress enough that you should try different things out. Remember, if something sounds good to you then it's good.
11.
If you're just using it for Modulation effects, then in the Effects Loop. If you're using it for OD/Distortion/Fuzz and EQ, then in front of the amp. Personally, I would put it in front of the amp.
I'm sure that there are modulation pedals designed to go before the amp, another in its loop.
12.
According to one of the responses on my thread, the pedal will not get damaged by running it in the loop, it will just distort. However, that's only what someone else has said, I do not claim to know if it will cause any damage or not, I'm just saying that there is more than one school of thought on this issue. There's certainly no warning in the B3 manual. and, I have been running a Mark Bass super booster pedal in the fx loop for seevral years and that has never complained!
I wasnt speaking specificaly about a pedal, and i didn't mean to say never put a pedal there, or scaremunger. Just wanted to warn that if you put some models of pedal in an amps effect loop then bad things could happen. Your basically putting a higher voltage through the circuit than its expecting. Not to say that there are pedals that work better in effects loops. Its just i wouldn't want to spend money on a pedal and stick it into an effects loop without thinking about.
13. I'd allways check a pedal before putting it in an amps effects loop as it can damage pedals that aren't designed for it. As for pedal order, try out different ones. There is no correct order, just try things out and see what sounds best to you.
14. I'd suggest starting off by getting yourself a multieffects unit (I'd suggest a zoom b3, ms60b, or b1on) and start playing about with different effects. That, and start experimenting with making different noises with your bass. Different harmonics, slapping, popping, tapping, even things like sliding a pic/your nail down the strings. Just get yourself a reporter of noises you can make. They don't have to be notes or musical in the traditional sense, just noises. Combine with different effects and see what happens.
15. They all just look like normal metal bands. But then they all look ridiculous to me.
16.
Gigrig on top as new homemade board isn't large enough underneath to fit
I'm so green about the protostar. Where did you buy it?
17. Boost your mids (and maybe try and convince your rhythm guitarist to scoop his). This should help you stick out in the mix. That, or lots of OD/fuzz pedals, and a bigger amp/cab than both your guitarist.
18. I've been in Belfast for 6 months now, and have only met bassists. Having no interest in either metal or trad (or any mixture thereof) doesn't help though.
19. Not tried them (I have massive clown feet so would be useless to me), but mooer do tiny ones. http://www.mooeraudio.com/?product/201512105381.html
20. Gigrig have a few adapters that might do the trick. They have a list of effects and suggested adapters here. Looks like you'll want a doubler. The other option for an 18v pedal is to use some kind of voltage doubler that you plug into two isolated outputs.
21. +1 for bright onion. Send him a message, hell be able to build you up a box on request.
22.
Some loopers can be connected using midi to drum machines, particularly the Boss ones.
(As far as boss pedals) only the RC50 will connect to other devices. The rc300 will connect to other rc300s, and the rc505 isn't a pedal. I use the rc50 connected to a korg esx1 electribe, (and my board including midisynced delay, tremolo, and phaser) all syncs up fine.
23. Compressors might be the hardest effect to use properly (not saying what proper use of a compressor should be, dont want another one of those compressor threads…). They are subtle beasts, and changes of their settings can be hard to notice when setting them up, but you can sure feel when you're using one thats set up right. i'm guessing this has quite a bit to do with why a lot of people seemed to have not gotten along with them.
24.
If he's testing class 1 equipment like our amps then how does he know the metal work on the amp is earthed to the earth on the plug top? Ok don't flash test the electronics but a continuity test between the earth pin on the socket on the amp and the exposed metal is a MUST! Any amp technicians here to substantiate my claim?
Well yeah, but if I asked him to do that, he tell me to get a multimeter and do it myself. That kind of basic maintenance doesn't really require an electrician.
