  1. Despite loving the Bongo tone and the headstock - I can't get my head around the toilet bowl body shape.
  2. Thanks for your response. Jon made the pre-amp himself. If the passive switch is a possibility I'd be looking to take it to a local luthier. I didn't really want to bother Jon seeing as how busy he is but it might be best to confer with him first.
  3. I have an active Shuker which takes 2 9v batteries. I'm not sure whether the pre-amp takes the two batteries or if one is for the pups (Delano SBC 4's I think) and one is for the on board pre-amp (Jon's own). So, would it be possible to mod the bass to include a passive switch? I wished I'd requested this at the outset but I didn't even know they existed then. If so, how much would this procedure generally cost? Thanks all.
  4. Looks like a Shuker headstock on a Warickesque body. I don't mind the form factor but that moldy cheese-looking burst effect is awful.
  5. It does make a difference (to me) what type of person they are. I haven't read the Gary Glitter thread but my opinion of Metallica ( the band members) plummeted after watching Some Kind of Monster.

It's more more iconic than the west Ham logo'd one.

If I ever get a precision it would be one of these! Lovely!
  8. Watched it last night - great documentary! Made me feel nostalgic for the mid-nineties when I was a young man.
  9. Since learning piano and especially taking my my first grade exam my reading skills have taken great leaps forward. I love the way you can see the whole tune as opposed to the part which applies to the bass player's line. It certainly helps improve your understanding of song structure and how melodies and harmonies are built upon chord structures etc.
  10. I'm not a big fan but I do like some of their earlier hits and I always found Noel amusing. Hoping to watch this tonight and looking forward to it after the reviews on here.
  11. Thanks Bilbo - the paul Brett parlour looks lovely. And thanks Ped - sounds intriguing!
  12. I'm thinking of taking the plunge and getting something strummy but I have a couple of questions I hope fellow BC'ers can help me with. I like the look of parlour guitars; are they quieter then dreadnoughts, which I (possibly incorrectly) assume to be the standard? I live in a flat so quieter wouldn't necessarily be a bad thing. Anyone recommend any good tuition books? I know the net offers plenty of excellent resources but I'm old fashioned and love working my way through books. Lastly, any recommendations for a good acoustic, preferably parlour guitar under £200? I can stretch beyond this for the right instrument. Thanks all!
  13. Bought an amp from Chris - nice guy. Wouldn't hesitate to deal with him again. Cheers Chris!
  14. My favorite head stock on any bass. Great tone too.
  15. ^^^ brill. Thank you so much - you've been most helpful!
  16. I used to dislike gold hardware but I bought an Ibby with it on last year and grown used to it. Don't mind it all now.
  17. Thanks for your comprehensive response mate - it's greatly appreciated. It looks like the P2 isn't available just yet so I'll have to decide whether to hang on for this or get an alternative. I'm using sure SE215 in ears, so I'm pretty sure they are low impedance but I'm unsure of the output of the mixing desks aux so I think I'd be better off with a headphone amp to boost the signal if required. I'm a completely noob to all this and learning steadily but I can't get my head around the DX4 or UI12 enough to recognize the benefits. Incidentally, looking again at wireless systems - what would be the cheapest you could get away with that you could get a respectable sound from with minimal hiss and interference?
  18. After experimenting with a cheapo in ear monitoring system the band has decided that this is the way to go for us but we need to upgrade due the interference and hiss we are getting (you get what you pay for). Due to the expense of a decent wireless set up we've decided to go with a wired set up[ for the foreseeable future. I've been looking at the Behringer Powerplay PM1 but wouldn't this just send a signal to one ear? I also see that it's passive - would this have a noticeable effect on volume? Would the Behringer Powerplay P1 be a better option? Thanks
  19. This was their flagship model not so long ago. I have one, it's ace.
  20. Well played and it sounds lovely.
  21. Brill, I bet you can't wait to play it. Let us know what you think of it.
  22. What colour is it? Also, I assume it's in mint nick? Otherwise can you post photos?
