1.
Left field suggestion. Lose the cab, keep the amp, cheap dummy load, wee mixer to DI into, decent headphones, jobs a good un. having owned an LB30 (and subsequently a CTM30) I know what you're giving up. Best little head out there and if I didn't have a Burman (despite it needing a good bit of work!) I'd have this off you in a flash...
Nice idea but I've got a Phil Jones Big Head I use with my head phones.
  2.
Have you considered moving in with a girlfriend with a bigger flat?
I have and I still have too much stuff!
  3. Sadly up for sale is my Ashdown Little Bastard amp with the accompanying 15" Ashdown cab (VS-115 300w 8 Ohm). This is an amazing studio/practice tube amp and just about the nicest sounding amp I've ever owned. Genuinely gutted to part with it as I've never sounded better but I'm looking to move in with girlfriend and need to down size. Rather than a straight sale I'd actually prefer to trade it for an amazing quality (small) practice amp. Something like a Phil Jones Double Four or Briefcase would be ideal. It has to be able to be played at low volume in a flat so as to not annoy neighbors - which the Ashdown can do incidentally! I can't see me posting this amp as I've no packaging but I would be prepared to travel a reasonable distance to assist the trade/sale. I live in Liverpool but sometimes travel to Coventy and Middlesborough if this helps. I'll post pics over the weekend.
  4. I bought a cello just over a year ago - then picked up a weird nerve injury in my left arm which hurts when I play. So after barely using it in the time I've had it and with no let up of the injury I've decided to move it on. I bought the cello for £825 and it came with a soft gig bag and bow. I then bought a cello stand, rosin and several work books. I'm letting this go for £600 which is a bargain. The cello was set up by Jan Shelly: http://www.janshelle...nthepool.co.uk/ Obviously it can't be posted but I'd be happy to meet halfway to any reasonable distance for petrol money. The price is non-negotiable and I'm not after any trades really. I'll get pics up over the weekend - but it really is a lovely instrument.
  5. I recently bought a Solid Gold FX Funk Lite. It's really really good! Very quacky. It was either that or the Fwonk Beta but the demo for the Funk Lite sold it for me. Lots of easy to dial in funky tones. Highly recommended.
  6. hey thanks - we've not considered EQ'ing and compressing the click. When you say a wired solution what do you mean? We found it difficult to stay in time during breaks in the song when samples were playing etc.
  7. Wonder if anyone can help. My band wanted to use samples which led to using electronic gear with midi connectivity. We wanted to use a click track to keep time throughout the songs but particularly for when samples were playing and we weren't. We are using a lap top to generate the click track. We bought an uber cheap IEM system from Gear 4 Music, which works, kind of. The problem is that the click is really harsh and has to be used very loudly to be heard above our instruments (we are not a loud band). we have tried using softer clicks sounds but this hasn't helped. Does the problem lie with the cheap IEM system or at least with the earphones? Are these accentuating the attack of the clicks? Would more expensive in ears solve this? Also, as the in ears dull the sound of our instruments - we are now looking at micing everyone up. This wasn't our original intention as we are a 3-piece in a relatively small room and can hear each other well enough when not using the in ears. Or is this simply a natural path to follow in order to get what we want. I hope that made sense?
  8.
I spoke with Adrian this morning - this should be with me next week.
That's lovely. I like the colour and the cutaways. What's the bridge system?
  9. Crazy price for a pro-sounding all tube studio amp! Someone's getting a bargain.
  10. I love this and am thinking about getting a Marusz... Jazzray version. Jon's work is second to none but I haven't got the readies for one of his builds at the minute.

    looping

My band always wanted to use loopers but found it impossible keeping time (we use a click track). However I recently discovered that there's a couple of loopers with midi sync like the Boss RC30 and TC Electronics Ditto x4. We use a lap top to control the click track and samples so this could be a solution for us - and may also be what you're after?
  12.
Already had one and sold it ! I put flats on it and it was a bit weird. I've been looking at the src6 crossover https://www.thomann....ez_src6_wnf.htm but it looks like the same ugly walnut finish as the cheap one in your link. The SR1400 MLG is down to £899 in Andertons although they aren't expecting delivery until October.
I think the SRC6 is a baritone guitar rather than a proper bass. That's an incredible price for a 1400! You left out the Bongo from your list!
  13.
My ebay SR700 arrived today - 2 days ahead of schedule and it is absolutely immaculate. Set up really nicely - really low action and no buzz. Nice leather strap in the case with gold straplocks and the 'proper' hard case is unmarked and still had the plastic coating on the SDGR label. The Bartolini's are a different sound to the Nordy's - I don't like them as much - not as defined a sound and a little warmer but they are crying out for a set of flatwounds. I wish Optima made gold flatwounds I love their rounds. Probably go for Deep Talkin' or a set of Chromes.Might just be the best value bass I've bought ! Is there a short scale SR - I'd love to set one up piccolo ?
http://www.dawsons.co.uk/ibanez-2016-gsrm20b-short-scale-bass-guitar-walnut-flat At that price I'm not sure it would be up to much but I've not tried one.
  14.
That's a challenge ! From memory (I'm sure I'll miss some !
haha - you're crazy! Glad you like the new basses though and can't wait to have a go! For me, with Ibby's it's mostly about the neck but those Nordy's are a huge plus too.
  15. Depends how spendy you want to be. After buying a Phil Jones Big Head I'm gassing for a Double Four.

  17. To the op: I wouldn't say you were missing out - they sound exactly like a regular 34er. But they do feel different at the low end. I've got small hands and I find them way easier to get around the first few frets - they''re very comfortable for me to play. But other than this I wouldn't say it was necessary to have one.
  18. haha - brill. And extremely well done!
  19.
Cheers buddy - I'm still loving it! Have worked out that using a short extension cable seems to be the way to go with my wireless SmoothHound, given the location of the cable connection on the top side of the bass rather than on the rim, which means being wireless will still be a breeze. £1,159 pre-discount, but with a bespoke Iby hard case and two years free servicing thrown in.
That's the cheapest I've seem these basses go for - and believe me I've looked. Bargain!
  20.
I tried Burno's 1300 earlier in the week and it was absolutely amazing - loved the neck dimensions and the Nordy pups.Everything about it just felt and sounded right.Being a shiny bass guy I've just ordered myself a 1400 and a set of gold optima's to set it off.
I can't wait to see your new bass mate!
  21. "I've been seriously thinking about getting either the SR1300" I bought one of these a few weeks ago and cannot put it down. It really is a lovely bass - those Nordy big singles are awesome and I just love Ibanez ultra skinny necks. I couldn't recommend one highly enough - but I've not played the Prestige - and am gassing for one too!
  22.
The sound is different. And the bass itself is different although it is hard to pin down what it is that is different.
Right that's it - I've been pursuaded - I'm getting one!
