Thanks mate. It's definitely in my price range. I'll be using an active bass with it. I think low impedance works best with active instruments, but need to do some reading. Does the the treadle allow an even sweep?
-
Probably looking toward the lower end of the scale < £75. Mostly for swells. Would prefer something with no tone suck. I've seen some described as high/low impedance and assume this is for active/passive basses - is that right? Any recommendations? ta.

Love the MegaDave's! Personally I think Peace Sells and So Far So Good So What, kick Rust in Peace's Arse! Seriously - it's not even close! Incidentally, and nothing to do with the OP, but my favorite Mustaine quote is where he rates bass playing as a level up from playing the Kazoo! My friend thought he was being generous there! -

Billy Gould for me - great bassist. Also, I don't think Roger Waters gets enough credit as a bass player - for musicianship and songwriting yes, but as a bassist, not really.
-
Lovely demo - nice and phat tone! I've had my LB30 for over a year now and wouldn't part with it - it's fantastic. Best tone I've ever made. Makes me want a great big valve amp for gigs -- and a great big roadie to carry it!

Hmmm. I was all set to arrange for my Markbass TA503 to be repaired to the estimated tune of £250 - £300, or I can get one of these instead? It really is a great price!

I've owned the old EHX Q-Tron and the EBS IQ and ended up with a Robot Factory Meatwad which was absolutely brilliant -- so many sweet spots, it couldn't half quack! Only got rid as I'd left my funk rock band and joined a prog rock outfit so it wasn't getting any use. They're quite rare but if you get the chance to swoop on one, they're well worth checking out.

I'm re-jigging my board so these lesser used pedals need new homes: Whammy 4, used but decent condition, with PSU, £50 posted. Boss BF-2, the purple one, good condition, boxed, £50 posted. SFX Microfuzz, mint nick last time I checked, £80. The only fuzz I ever found that played nice with my hot signal bass, and I went through a lot! If I ever feel the need to return to fuzz I'll pick up another one of these. I'll post next day recorded. The only trades I'm interested in would be for an El Capistan with cash adjustment, or possibly a DI. Thanks Ste
Wonder which is better. Old bass whammy, or new bass whammy ....
Can't help with that - never got my hands on an old bass whammy. Are the settings different?
-
This is interesting . Nobody has said it is awesome yet. Obviously more time is needed, and it's just come out etc .
I actually thought it was excellent - it lets more bass tone through than the Whammy 4, some of the new settings (new to me) are cool but I've grown reliant on the whammy 4's settings and specifically needed those, otherwise I'd have kept it.
-
Try the Whammy V. I've used one for a while and the tone is def an improvement on the 4, but you have all the same settings!
Yup - that's what I've gone for. Same settings plus polyphony, which sealed the deal. I'd still love a Pitchfactor but can't afford it.
Return the Bass Whammy to the store? Seems a waste to lose money selling it on here?
Just checked and 7 day no quibble returns - looks like it'll go back! Thanks for the heads up Kev.
Does the freeze come with box/PSU? or just the beastie itself?
I've deffo got the box, does it usually come with a PSU? Can't remember now, if so I've never used it and should be in the box.

Day old Bass Whammy, would prefer trade, I'm after either a Line 6 M5 with or without expression pedal or an Eventide Pitchfactor (worth a punt) with a cash adjustment either way depending on pedal, condition etc. Also, would consider a Strymon El Capistan or Way Huge Supa Puss, again with cash adjustments pending etc EHX freeze, excellent condition, £55 posted. ta

Just back from band praccy. The whammy 4 settings are just too embedded in our tracks, no way I can work around it, new bass whammy's gotta go Serves me right for not researching the pedal! Looks like I'll have to sell off a another pedal to make room for an M5 or Pitchfactor + expression pedal!
-
Why are people still using these pedals when, for example, the Line 6 M5 does an excellent Whammy model where you can set the toe and heel anywhere from -24 to +24 semitones?
It's a valid point. With the M5 it's purely down to space on my board, the Whammy is smaller than an M5 + expression pedal.

Got mine today from Andertons. Had a quick blast, some good and some bad. The only bad really is that the settings aren't exactly the same from the whammy 4. I new there were additional ones but didn't realise they'd really changed them up. For example, the 4 up 5 up on Whammy 4 is now 4 up 5 down on the new bass whammy. I use that setting for a couple of riffs and they sound pretty crap now. There's no 3 up 4 up equivilent so that's killed off another riff completely. On the plus side, there's more bass to the tone, the sweep is way smoother and less glitchy sounding (which I liked incidentally). The chords setting is brill too, and it's 9v. I know I'll grow to love it in time, just gutted I'm losing some riffs.

The problem with music gear specific insurance is that there are so many exclusion. I was with Music Guard for a few years but then decided it just wasn't worth it - gear cannot be visible in a vehicle - which rules theft from most cars out. Theft from a place outside the home was only covered if your are in the room that the the gear was stolen from. So if you're at a gig and take a leak and some turd nicked your bass from the side of the stage - no cover. Also, storage rooms outside the home were only covered if they had a mortis lock - so the band's lockup, locked with a padlock at the rehearsal studios, wasn't covered. Might have changed from 5 or so years ago, but it didn't give me any peace of mind at all and didn't seem worth having in the end.
-
Nearly bought one of these a few years ago but couldn't quite pursuade myself to go through with it - not 100% sold on the looks - don't mind it, just don't love it. The tone however, really is incredible. Powerful and extremely versatile. If I won the lottery I would definately get one!

Great guy to deal with - kept me in the loop and item arrived in mint nick as advertised. Wouldn't hesitate to buy from again. Cheers Ste
