1. Ah, I was hoping they'd sound very different to the Nordy's. It's easier to justify the purchase that way
2. Mmmmm, jealous. Love the SR's and I'm after the 4 string version of this. How do the pick ups sound in comparison to the Nordstrand big singles on the SR1200 - 1800 range?
3. Will post more pics when I can - it depends on the sun getting into my flat!
4. Spot on Desmond - it is indeed a series 2. Salotti - I see I've missed off the nut width. I'll take some measurements and post this tonight.
5.
Hmm.. seriously considering sticking an order in for #3.
Your lake placid is one of my favorites!
6. Hey thanks for the quick responses. I was always planning on a maruszcyk custom job but after playing those Ibby's yesterday I'm not so sure.
7. Price or trade value £1200. Up for sale is my lovely 4 string Shuker. The photo's don't do it justice so I'll try and take some better pics in better light. The body wood is zebrano with walnut facings front and back, It's a 5 piece through neck made of wenge and paduak and the finger board is made of, I think, African Ebony. It has side dots. It weighs just under 10bs using the man on a bathroom scale with/without bass method. It has 2 Delano soapbar pups and Jon's own pre-amp. It's a very versatile instrument and can do anything you want, it can sound very powerful and very smooth. The action is real low and it's a joy to play. It's in excellent condition with a couple of very minor dings on the front face which can only be seen if you angle it in the light - I couldn't actually photograph them (although I will try to take better pics for full disclosure), and there is a little scuffing on the tip of the headstock. It comes with a Shuker hardcase. Not sure if I'm up for trades but I do like short scales and Ibanez premiums so you never know.
8.
Yes, the neck on my elwood is based on measurements of the neck on my SR1605. Its very nice - that was one of the reason (as it shows somewhere on this massive thread) that I went for one, that I could have the neck dimensions that I wanted.
I thought I'd read that! How accurate a reproduction is it? Does it have the same feel?
9. Played a couple of gorgeous Ibanez SR's in Dawsons yesterday - I particularly love their necks; thinnest - and fastest I've ever played. Just wondering, has anyone requested the SR neck dimensions on their Maruszczyk mod? How did it turn out?
10. Another fantastic V - love the matching headstock too!
11. Would love this - great price too! No funds though. Have a bump.
12. Thanks Grangur - I have a better idea what this means now - although I have no idea what my preference is!
13.
The radius is the curvature of the fretboard and this is of course determined when the neck is carved. This is not altered during a bass setup
Yeah, I didn't explain my point well at all. You use the radius in a bass set up to even the string height across the curvature of the fingerboard. But in terms of playing a bass say, what difference does this make?
14. I know what the radius is - in terms of a bass set up. But what does it mean in terms of a new build? Is it just the plane of the fingerboard beneath the strings - if that makes sense? Or is it the thickness of the neck? I'm asking as I do find the stock neck a bit thicker than I'd like (not width).
15.
Video on Facebook just been put up announcing the configurator goes live on Monday. Credit cards at the ready....
Holy sh*t! And if you buy on a credit it card it feels like it's free right?
16. That's gorgeous - loving the quilted maple top and red fret lines!
17. Tried one out in Dawsons Liverpool a few months ago: played and sounded great. Excellent price for a quality short string. I really want one but no funds at the minute.
18. Lovely bass that - wish I could have a go! Well done.
19.
They do look v nice. How's the tone when compared to a normal Fender Jazz? Sounds a bit beefier than a usual J in the demos I've seen but that could just be processing.
The Marusczczyk stock pick ups sound like a regular jazz pick up to me. Warmer with the neck pick up and Jaco-like with the bridge pups. They sound really nice to me but I've never actually owned a Fender Jazz so I'm probably not the best person to ask.
20.
Does anyone here own a Maruszczyk short scale? I'm interested in the shortie versions of the Elwood and Jake models in particular, wondering about feel / playability / balance etc.
I got a short scale Elwood just before Christmas and totally love it. It took all my will power not to order another one straight away! It was a stock bass and the workmanship, fit and finish is 10/10. It's light weight, well balanced , looks lovely, and most importantly it's fantastic to play. I will be getting another one but will wait until later on in the year.
21. Wow - that's stunning! Love the black hardware too, perfect match.
22. Lovely - the maple, mother of pearl and black binding on the neck is awesome!
23. He tried to repair one of my pedals but found that the maker, Durham Electronics, had covered the circuit with resin. He tried to get at the board but couldn't. Hardly charged me for his efforts and had kept me updated throughout the process. I would always send a pedal to this guy first.
