I may have missed something but I was responding to the comments about great looking amps. I like the the look of the GB Ashdown - I'm not getting one. As I say, I've not heard it.

Love the colour and the grain, also the simplicy of the body - minimum knobbage and a single pick up. very nice indeed.

I used to have a full MarkBass rig - the aesthetics never bothered me one bit. For sure there's better looking set ups out there but that's not what counts for me. Going back to great looking amps - the newish Geezer Butler amp by Ashdown looks incredibly evil and is my current favorite.

I like a bit of slap - if it's done well. And I enjoy making a lovely din when I'm trying to play it. Despite several years of trying a still suck at it though - not a natural technique for me to play for some reason.

This - Ibby's don't hold their value at all and you can get a mint second hand prestige for between £500-£600 which is a steal for this level of instrument.

I think this would be an excellent experience for a budding young musician - but yes, they would be getting ripped off, no doubt about it. Reminds of my local summer music festival. Hundreds of bands on in all the village pubs (about 6) all day Friday through to bank holiday Monday. The village centre is absolutely rammed with hundreds of punters. I've played it a couple of times and its a fun event - but no one gets paid. It's just an excuse for the bar owners to make a killing and pray on enthusiastic musicians joy of playing live.

Sennheiser EW300 G2's systems come up quite cheap on Ebay - is it worth getting an older generation, or are there any drawbacks?

I honestly think the Marusz... pups are real sleepers. They don't often get mentioned and I did intend to upgrade my Elwood once it arrived and I could afford it - but there just wasn't any need. They sound awesome, I like them just as much as the Nordy's big singles in my Ibby. Different sounding, but just as pleasing.

Great Idea for a thread! Another +1 for cover solutions from me. No nonsense, perfect technique and tabs. He does loads of very varied covers too, so there's something for everyone. I'm looking forward to checking out the others mentioned here; there are more crappers than gooduns on YT so it's very useful to highlight the ones who can generally help those of wishing to learn.

I saw the link to these on here the other week and despite being a Mustang fan I thought it looked a bit meh. I then saw one in the flesh in Dawsons and completely changed my mind. Looks lovely!

I watched that the other day. Not my usual cuppa these days but I quite liked the band too. I do like the NPR's diverse approach with bands. I've discovered more than a couple of acts I like on there which have led to album purchases.
