Micky Jones Memorial Gigs
The life of Micky Jones, guitarist and singer with progressive rockers Man, will be celebrated this September by not one but two memorial gigs. Both take place at the Pontardawe Arts Centre, Swansea, on 3rd and 18th September.
The initial show on Friday 3rd September will feature Racing Cars, re-forming for the occasion, plus Sassafras, Edgar Broughton and for one night Micky’s son George’s new band, the appropriately named Son of Man.
Saturday 18th at the same venue will see Jones’ long-time guitar partner in man, Deke Leonard, bring his Iceberg ot the stage for an all too rare gig. In support will be the Flying Pigs (a band Micky graced during Man’s 1977-82 hiatus), plus the Green Ray featuring ex-Man bassist Ken Whaley. Many more artists are expected to be announced in for this special event in due time.
