1. Thank Gawd you've seen sense! I should add that while he's been 'fondling' this one I have got through about ten 'second basses', nine of which weren't as good. So there must be something to it. And one day, Den, I will forgive you for that Warwick...
2. This is a trifle unseemly, chaps - leave the seller alone!
3. Last night we played a long, 2 1/4 hour set in a very cramped pub. I was more or less on top of the kit, not very comfortable for a six footer. About half an hour from the end I thought my drink had been spiked! The whole band sound seemed to get louder and less distinct at the same time. I could no longer pick out my bass lines from this noise and basically played 'by feel'. It was a really disorienting experience. My ears now (next day) feel quite tender but no ringing sound, thank god. Has anyone else experienced this kind of thing? I know for sure I'll be taking earplugs to my next one next Saturday.
4. Hello mate! You'll have fun here. I'd not take advice from ol' Rossi - he kicked out the bass player early doors!
5. As per my sig, I have played medium size venues and not needed to go thru the PA, nor turn up over half. V heavy to transport, but really do a job.
6. Sorry Chris, no 'experience' but a NR story. I had to interview him (by phone from Ireland) a few years before his passing and asked him what he thought of the 'new' (ie latest) Hendrix box set to have come out. It's all right, he said. So you've got one? Yeah - I called up the record company and it arrived yesterday. The postman charged me £20 COD...
7. Italian? I thought he was from Barcelona?!
8. Funnily enough he lives on the Isle of Wight - you could probably get a one to one!
9.
Any of these still left?
Bob bought mine Saturday...
10. Nice fella and a pleasure to deal with - paid upfront and even had the guitar collected!
11. 'Proper' ad with pics etc now posted. Couldn't access the computer with pics on it last night so thought I'd prepare you all - apologies if I offended anyone (board member or mods). Oh and Graham (the original seller) would like to buy it back if he ever comes into funds so anyone who wants to try a G&L has a prospective buyer if they don't like it...
12. This is a four-string L-1000, 1989, US made, Leo Fender name transfer on headstock (Fender made G&L stop doing this, hence slightly rare I think). Three bolt microtilt neck. Tobacco sunburst. Comes with a fitted G&L case which could withstand a world war. It has been a working instrument in its time and is therefore road worn, so if your instruments must be pristine this isn’t for you. All electrics etc are perfect; fretboard clean, neck straight. Strung with flats. Apart from visible wear, a chip off the bottom of the body has been solidly reattached (in the dark part of the sunburst near strap button). It doesn't interfere with anything, is invisible when in use and has never been an issue. This is the most versatile bass I have owned due to the MFD pickup and three-way selector switch. I am only getting rid as my daughter, travelling in Australia, has run out of money! My ’71 Precision would make more but I just can’t part with that…in fact gigged the G&L last weekend in preference. I bought it for £350 last year and will sell for the same price. No offers, and no trades sorry! It’s a bloody bargain… I am based on Surrey/Hampshire borders...
13. Will put up photos etc tomorrow. PM me meanwhile if you can't wait !
14. I ahve one of these identical for sale if anyone's interested...
15. Michael I've spent most of my working life interviewing 'rock stars' and I'm afraid I have to report that Mr Zevon was the most egocentric and downright nasty. All the more disappointing since I was a big fan of his work. The book explains a lot! My choice for a rock book with balls if you can find it (and I know this is off topic) is Papa John by John Phillips - a lovely interviewee, incidentally! Don't be fooled by the Mamas and the Papas' image - he was a real hellraiser. Never met the late Bruce Palmer....
16.
How very dare you! My other three basses are Precisions
Not sure about that expensive Italian 'copy'...
17. Right. I warned you. (Adopts Basil Fawlty voice) You're out of the Precision club! PS: Looks like a Yamaha anyway
18. No 21st on my 1989 L-1000 either! I shall be putting this up for sale shortly, if anyone's interested...

He's new at buying and selling here but doesn't have much to learn. Bought a pedal from me, money upfront, and communications were A1. Top man.
