1.
The Great Gig In The Sky' left not a single dry eye in the house.
That was kinda funny, as all three backing singers had a go at it in turn. It was a multiple orgasm, I guess😲👏
2. The best 'staged' show I can remember ever seeing in 45 years of concert-going. But only 'Arnold Layne really got me jumping in my seat. Floyd didnt do emotion....so this was all scarily realistic!
3.
I use a Tonehammer amp into my BF cabs and it works really well.
Me too!
4. A tribute act I would travel to see!

9. 'Ended because of a mistake in the listing'
10. My son is putting on an evening of entertainment to drum up funds for his London Marathon entry on behalf of Worldwide Cancer Research. It's in Leytonstone, London E11 on Saturday 20 January 2018. It's a re-run of one we staged five years ago for my late first wife, who said: 'Don't give me a wake, have a party and enjoy yourselves'. We made £2k for Macmillan. My band played at that, but I can't get them back together to do this one. Essentially there'll be 130 people from 30s-50s in a pub function room all up for a good time. Fee tbc, but obviously want to minimise as it will come out of the charity 'pot'. Logical, therefore, for me to look for a local band that has some affinity with the cause. Music should probably be cross-the-board pub/party crowdpleasers. Any advice or offers, please PM me. I know anything labelled 'charity' causes controversy, but I'd appreciate not using this thread for that particular debate. TBH I would love to play this, but as I said distance and a moody guitarist make it impossible. Thanks for reading... Mick
11.
You read your Pm's from me yet, young Michael...?
Yes my friend but as usual struggling to follow whats going on!
12. Given by General Franco? They will be old, then...
13. I played an unmodified one Keith and, while it felt good in the hand, it sucked soundwise... That's the acid test. I know someone with a similarly aged reissue of the single coil version and that sounded great when he played it. M
14. BBC4 music has gone down the pan. Tons of repeats now theyve exhausted Mark Cooper's pile of music DVDs 😢
15. I use exactly that set-up and a Precision and have no problems!
16. Seller's remorse... I know it well!
17. Very nice indeed!
18.
Thought you might have plumped for Llanelli being MANnieland Michael
Not at the rate they're dying off, Mike - off to Will Youatt's funeral tomorrow 😢
19. Is Hollywood luvvieland?
20. Last bump before withdrawal...
21. Yes, pokies advertised everywhere confused me when I arrived in Adelaide from Perth. But gambling is not permitted in Western Australia- god bless it!
22. Is this something you do regularly, and if so how do you use it to improve the music? It follows on from my thread 'Playing with Pros'. The ex-pro I recently worked with recorded everything, then sent me the tracks over the internet. I found it interesting, but it led to more heat than light in the end. I'm just trying to work out if it's a concept I should try in the future, never having done it before. Views most welcome...
23. If you are a semi-pro in a band with a former professional musician, how do you relate to them and vice versa? I ask as I have recently spent/wasted four months putting together a band with an ex-pro keyboardist whose musical abilities far outshine mine. I pushed him as the musical director, but he stubbornly refused to direct; instead, he'd spend hours on the phone moaning to me about the shortcomings of our bandmates, who were rotated in short order. We finally found people he could tolerate, though the complaints continued. Then the phonecalls stopped, and I now realise he was bending someone else's ear about me! Then came the email: 'It's not working, is it - everyone thinks so. I'm not the leader...' You can say that again. I now wish I'd tried to be more proactive in the rehearsal studio to fill the vacuum that so frustrated me. In future, I'll not be nearly as deferential. And I'll not be so available on the phone! Any parallel or more heartening tales?
24. Interestingly, Sir Tom has just postponed his US tour on health grounds... PS: Like that T-shirt!
