2. Acoustic bass in as new condition except for slight thumb 'shadow' on scratch plate. Any other 'marks' are reflections. Does a good job as an unamplified practise instrument, and has plenty of controllable power through an amp. I now use a fretless for my folk gig, so it sits in a nice hard case all the time. 3. Took this affordable classic in a trade earlier this year, and it's comfortably the most active passive bass I have ever played. My band (who never take any notice of basses) actually recognise this one and deem it the best-looking one I have. It is, however, a victim of the 'one in, one out' rule. DiMarzio pickup (hence DMZ) combines with two mini toggles to give an astounding number of tonal options, from Precision to Stingray (I kid you not). Given this is 35 years old, it it in phenomenal shape and comes with a new luxury gig bag. Like Concorde, there will be no more aluminium-necked basses, so get yourself a piece of history that's cool-looking, not too expensive and above all playable. 5. Hear hear. Sent me a precision ashtray cover and said 'put a fiver in the Macmillan tin.' Salt of the earth!
6.
Whats wrong with having Sir Cliff on there anyway ??
Nothing against Cliff, but his appearance seemed an excuse to put a famous name in there when there was so much wasn't said about the band's story. What about, to name but one example, the original organist (Roy Lynes) who appeared in the early pics and VT and disappeared without even being name checked?
7. Really poor documentary I thought - based on two long chats with Rossi and Parfitt rather than actual events. And Cliff? WTF? Elvis Costello document previous night was rather more thoughtfully put together.
8. Bodnar was playing a Jazz on the new record, according to TV documentary. His day job is a library assistant in Pickering Yorkshire, so shouldn't have too far to come. Very well spoken chap - thought he looked a bit intimidating back then!
9. I've just done a feature on them for the next Record Collector issue - but unfortunatly will be out of the country when they tour. Boo! PS There's a great 1 hour documentary on YouTube, Curriculum Vitae, filmed some years ago for Channel 4 if you look for it. Very much recommended.
10. Bought Dale's Shuker, which is in A1 condition. He is a great seller and communicator, so deal with confidence.
11. After 30 years I have a folk gig where I use my fretless Guild. So glad I kept it!
12. Fraid I have already bought this from Dale. It's not yet been marked as sold.
13. At Holmer Green Sports Association, High Wycombe, HP15 6UF. Thursday 12 September. Be lovely to see any BassChat members there. A good chance Mo Foster will be in attendance!
14. Here's my DMZ4001. Nearest thing to an active bass I've ever played...and it's passive! Sadly, have to say goodbye to it shortly, if anyone's after a prime 1979 example. 15. That is impressive - and judging by what my cousin says well deserved.
16. My cousin is a major fan and will be there. But I wonder, and no disrespect intended, how many you will get through the doors at a crisp twenty a time? With travel to central London it would be 35 plus drinks for me...
17. According to John peels manager FGTH did a version of 2T for a session before it was released commercially that sounded just like the record. Go figure...

19. Had an older version of this and it was a sound to die for! Bump....
20. I bought one for £280. Traded it for a rotten 5-string. Mistake!
