There's a guy called John Eason who is heavily involved musically with the Whelans chain. Get in touch via Facebook. Hopefully he can help you out.

I bought a s/h Ampeg PF500 as a back up amp (but have used at gigs and rehearsals too) just because it has the headphone socket. The bass sounds really good that way and my crazy neighbour has stopped banging on my door too. Worth considering as an option.

Really sad news. I bought a Gramma Pad from when he was doing a gig in Sutton. Top bloke, great player and the band was superb too.

Think I can help(ish) The PF50t has 2 DIs and allows you to record direct to DAW post the power amp stage. Looks great, sounds great. Loud enough for most gigs. The PF500 is also worth looking at for home practice as it has a headphone input (to stop potential) fights with neighbours. Sounds good too, nice features. I have both. Had the micro vr head. It's ok for practise or as a back up amp. Don't think it sounds good enough for recording though.

Ok, I'll bite: I had a pretty decent amp head for years. No pedals. Really happy with it but heavy. Stopped playing for a bit and then decided to go down the lightweight route: Ampeg micro, orange terror, Mark Bass Randy Jackson, Ampeg PF500 and now Ampeg PF50t. Once you go down the path of looking for something better/different/newer/shinier, etc it never ends. Just a route to indecision, second guessing and discontentment. We call it GAS (gear acquisition syndrome). Be happy with what you've got and focus on practising and improving your technique. You'll sound better and won't have to blame it on your gear why you suck. However, feel free to take my advice as in no longer use it anymore. Much like half the pedals I have bought!

Here is how I see it: OP went from one extreme to the other. 1. You worked hard with little music to 2. All Music and no work. However, Happiness lies in the middle way (Buddha). Find full time or part time work that you could enjoy or at worst tolerate and the rest of the time build up your music career/hobby having a firm foundation on which to build from. The less intense pressure you put on yourself, the greater probability you will achieve your goals.

Tina Weymouth BBC bass programme in Jan

I found it very watchable. You could do a 10 part series on Bass and some of the people on here would still be miserable. Btw - for a woman approaching 70, thought she was quite attractive (I probably would) :) -

Maybe it was just a bad day at the office or you wanted it too much and nerves got the better of you. With all been there. I think you got asked back again because you're a nice guy who they want to work with, can obviously play well but had some brain farts. Try to laugh it off, it's better than beating yourself up. -
The PF50t is surprisingly loud for 50w, especially with an efficient cab such as my barefaced super compact. It also has 2, yes 2 DI outputs if you need to stick it through the PA. not sure why you would need 200 + watts. If you do, there is an Ashdown bta 200 for sale on the forums for just £550.
