  1. Think I can help(ish) The PF50t has 2 DIs and allows you to record direct to DAW post the power amp stage. Looks great, sounds great. Loud enough for most gigs. The PF500 is also worth looking at for home practice as it has a headphone input (to stop potential) fights with neighbours. Sounds good too, nice features. I have both. Had the micro vr head. It's ok for practise or as a back up amp. Don't think it sounds good enough for recording though.
  2. Great pedal. Think I prefer it my Envelope Filter.
  3. Still got the one I bought from Merton over 3 years ago. Bought a second one. Fantastic but didn't need it, so I sold it. Love my SC.
  4. These were my first real bass amp when I was 15 or 16. Kept it for years. Was the bomb
  5. Or £35 you could just buy a s/h Boss GE7B EQ pedal and adjust to suit your taste/bands as you go along. That's what I did with my P Bass that has 62 pickups on when I needed a bit more juice from it. Just a thought. Cheap and simple.
  6. Used one of these at Pirate Studios (Croydon) last night. Thought it was a great bit of kit. Nice sound and lovely looking too!
  7. Ok, I'll bite: I had a pretty decent amp head for years. No pedals. Really happy with it but heavy. Stopped playing for a bit and then decided to go down the lightweight route: Ampeg micro, orange terror, Mark Bass Randy Jackson, Ampeg PF500 and now Ampeg PF50t. Once you go down the path of looking for something better/different/newer/shinier, etc it never ends. Just a route to indecision, second guessing and discontentment. We call it GAS (gear acquisition syndrome). Be happy with what you've got and focus on practising and improving your technique. You'll sound better and won't have to blame it on your gear why you suck. However, feel free to take my advice as in no longer use it anymore. Much like half the pedals I have bought!
  8. Here is how I see it: OP went from one extreme to the other. 1. You worked hard with little music to 2. All Music and no work. However, Happiness lies in the middle way (Buddha). Find full time or part time work that you could enjoy or at worst tolerate and the rest of the time build up your music career/hobby having a firm foundation on which to build from. The less intense pressure you put on yourself, the greater probability you will achieve your goals.
  9. I found it very watchable. You could do a 10 part series on Bass and some of the people on here would still be miserable. Btw - for a woman approaching 70, thought she was quite attractive (I probably would) :)
  10. I concur. I used mine for a dep gig with a classic rock/metal covers band. Got told the bass was too loud by the management.
  11. Maybe it was just a bad day at the office or you wanted it too much and nerves got the better of you. With all been there. I think you got asked back again because you're a nice guy who they want to work with, can obviously play well but had some brain farts. Try to laugh it off, it's better than beating yourself up.
  12. The PF50t is surprisingly loud for 50w, especially with an efficient cab such as my barefaced super compact. It also has 2, yes 2 DI outputs if you need to stick it through the PA. not sure why you would need 200 + watts. If you do, there is an Ashdown bta 200 for sale on the forums for just £550.
  13. I've used DHA pedals, VTDI pedal, Orange Terror amp, Randy Jackson Markbass head and then an Ampeg PF500 etc all to get that near impossible wish of a lightweight, loud Ampeg valve head sound. Then in a moment of unusual personal clarity I thought 'what I really need to buy is a fudging valve amp!' D'oh! I discovered/bought a PF50T shortly after that! Couldn't be happier.
  14. Just bought an EQ pedal from Phil. Excellent communications, pedal in great conditional and seems like a top fella too! Thank you.
  15. They sound like Yes meets Alvin & the Chipmunks to me!
  16. Bought my 11 yo son a squier jaguar s/h from here. I play it more than he does. Great fun and pretty versatile with the pj pickup configuration too.
  17. I use a TC mini spark boost. They are very good. Also good to use when the guitarist takes a solo to help fill out the sound from the lack of rhythm guitar.
