1. [s]For sale or trade my CertainBass '61 P-bass funk-machine re-issue type thing as I really need to make some space due to a couple of fretless arrivals and it doesn't get the play time it deserves so... Yes...I know it's assembled from parts he's sourced from wherever he feels will give the best result, but hey aren't Nash basses the same (and they're mega bucks for whatever reason)? and isn't that really the essence of Fender? blah blah...anyhoo... condition: I've been hard pressed to find anything wrong with it (apart from the nut crack I've mentioned further down and price reduced to reflect this little bit of work that needs doing) Spec: Alder body, gorgeous sunburst finish (headstock finished to match too) Seymour Duncan Antiquity 2 P-Bass pickup CTS pots & switchcraft jack Schaller strap-buttons (for schaller straplocks) tort pickguard 60's spec thick slab rosewood fingerboard on maple neck bone nut (checking it over just now while photographing it I noticed that the nut is cracked under the D string and while it does hold in with the string tension it will eventually need 'at least' supergluing or at worst 'replacing') fender style tuners & string tree fender style bridge Hard shell case It's so well knitted together (body and neck) that it really sings acoustically and the pickup really gives a convincing vintage growl! Couple that with some foam and flats and you've got instant motown!! (that's been it's main use of late - I've just taken the flats off it again though) I paid about £800 all told...I'd take [s]£700[/s] [s]£650[/s] [s]£600[/s] [s]£550[s/] £500 collected, it's been very infrequently used as my main bass has been my 5 string and my EUB gets used more often? You're more than welcome to swing by and take a gander at it if you're genuinely interested (am in Sheffield for the mobile users who can't see such things)... Trades? ...amps - I fancy a genz streamliner 900 or mebbe a markbass to try ...cabs - barefaced S12T or midget with black grill and tweeter ...other bits - diago pedal power[/s]
 2.
Haha I realise that, I suddenly though of doing my MM instead!
the status neck looks right on a 'ray cos it's the right shape, the reverse headstock would be a new look though, shame they don't do backwards/upside-down ones innit
 3. Not wanting to be overly critical of aesthetics...it's not a picture of a p-bass is it spotted that misself I did
 4.
I have it back now! It's superb to play! I've never had a jazz like it!! 5. Gav has once again gone out on a limb to let me try out some cool pedals! He very kindly sent me his Xotic BB Preamp and his secret weapon the EWS BMC http://ews-us.com/item_bassmid.php Although I wasn't won over by the BB his sneaky inclusion of the BMC has increased my GAS list. Top chap that Gav!

 9.
Ahh ya see!! All my bumping worked, well at least you painted the badge on it for the buyer
Thank-you kind sir and yes it is more attractive now too
 10.
Ok ok, now you done that, MISSION 2!! Shave the ends off and make it fit round the soundhole of a Spanish classical guitar
I'd love to but my woodworking skills are not up to serious mods :-(
 11.
I'll have it please. PayPal?
Pm'd
 12. ...ah (lightbulb moment - sorry long week!)
 13.
don't act like you're not impressed...
yep...you got me there
 14.
I fitted one of these ramps onto my bits P Bass - works a treat and if anything, gives me MORE attack!
15. Wowsa that was pretty speedy, congrats!
 16. There was a ramp on the geddy jazz I got from McGraham and I kinda liked it, I then sold the neck and had a new one fitted by BassDoc that's fretless and the ramp doesn't suit so well now as the action's that bit lower and it clashes with the strings now, I also like to dig in on fretless... On the fretted neck it made me play nice and smooth, I seemed faster too somehow maybe it's because I was controlling my picking strength more? either way I no longer have a bass that it will fit so my ramp is for sale, fits a geddy jazz perfectly and should fit any jazz with 70's pickup spacing
 17.
Paint a Newcastle United badge on it
...confused am I
 18. This is way more gorgeous than the common/'garden black version that everyone seems to have! and the condition looks glorious!!
 19.
Fair enough!
20.
Could always sand the underside down.
could do, but that'd feel like I was 'turning a faded fresco of Christ into a badly restored picutre of a beast' and somehow spoiling Jon's work...also I like to dig in a bit when I play and ramps don't really allow that...I just don't think I'm a ramper
 21.
I can confirm it'll press-fit between 70s jazz spacing BUT NOT 60s jazz spacing. Great ramp this. Shame it doesn't do it for you!
It is a lovely little thing, really cool, it's just a bit too high for the action on the new neck so the strings dont have any play at all...
