andydye replied to Mark_ii's topic in Effects For Sale
Looking for a trade against a Sansamp VT (version 2) However, will sell for £125 cash. It's brand new, only taken out of the box to try it out.
That's a superb price for a superb piece of kit! If I hadn't just bought one from the gallery I'd have this like a shot!! -

Sounds like an amazing learning experience matey! I hope you manage to enjoy it too, even if it's only the enjoyment that comes from having survived the set! However it turns out you'll have learned loads and will have discovered that you're better than you thought you were... Good luck and let us know how you get on!
Glad to hear it, Andy! The NXT 4 went to another basschatter in the end, to do an X Factor tour, I think he said. Traded anything interesting recently?
fairly quiet year I think trades wise, sold the shuker neck from my geddy jazz and sent the body to bassdoc for a new fretless neck, should be arriving at my house today my Lakland 55-02 arrived in March I think it was so that's my main bass and my amps are sorted as of last year (Genz Shuttle 9 and a pair of Epi UL112-2 cabs) although I'm really tempted to see how different it would sound through a Barefaced Super 12T... Traded Line6 DL4 for a Lomenzo Hyperdrive, sold Hyperdrive to part fund either Catalinbread SFT or Xotic BB Bass Preamp, having a go with both this week to try and choose which Traded EBS Mumlticomp for Aguilar TLC - lovin it! Sold my EBS octabass and multidrive and bought an Aguilar Octamizer - arrived this morning, trying it tonight! hhmmm, maybe not that quiet...all change in the pedalboard it would seem
Nice one Andy! Yes, I remember that now. Come to think of it, I never updated that post to show that I sold the bass. Better do that now. Hope you're keeping well, sir!
All good ta matey! Still hanging around on here buying and swapping bits and bobs, chipping in where I might know something useful but mostly learning useful stuff myself...

Once again Dave has come up with the goods, yet another superb cable shipped the day after ordering! Sublime level of service and professionalism! Thanks again!!

In response to my musings on whether I'd prefer a Catalinbread SFT to an Xotic BB Bass Preamp, Ivan pm'd me to say I could borrow his SFT as he wasn't currently using it...gobsmacked I said yes please that would be amazing, and, lo and behold, it arrived on my desk this morning in prefect time for this evening's band practice! The man is a true pillar of the spirit of BassChat and I salute him!! EDIT - Ivan has now kindly agreed to sell me the pedal! Price agreed within minutes, everybody's happ! I love my new SFT!

mic - pronounced mike, short for microphone, same sound different spelling, you do get some funny kids on here (we all like to play with words...) I've always found the SM58 to have a mid hump whereas the Sennheiser generally has a much flatter response so you don't have to work as hard to amplify naturally, I have a bunch of E855 mics that we use at church and they're brilliant. the e845 that's on here would be superbly adequate and a quality bump from an SM58 which I once a/b compared with an e835 in a shop and found to be about the same... They're pretty good at cutting down 'off-axis' noises so she'd need to develop good mic discipline and not wander off from it...

SOLD...one excellent Blackstar 100W all valve head in pristine condition (belonging to my good guitarist friend)! The blurb: "I'm selling this great amp as I'm not getting the use out of it that it deserves! Has been well looked after and just had a service by a local amp tech, is in 100% perfect condition. The amp is fantastic for anything from shimmery cleans, Plexi-type punch or more modern high-gain styles, and thanks to the ISF control can cover both British (Marshall, Vox, Orange) to USA (Fender, Mesa) tones really well." Web address for more info is here: http://www.blackstar...s/seriesone100/ "Series One 100 - A two channel 100W amplifier Built on the rock-solid foundation of the classic 100W EL34 power stage, this amplifier sets new standards for clean and crunch tones. Two channels and four footswitchable modes, complete with ISF, include the amazing Super Crunch for the biggest, crunchiest tones yet heard. The DPR control allows power to be reduced to 10W for studio and small venue work, while a series effects loop and MIDI switching further expand the flexibility of this professionally specified amplifier." [s]£600[/s] [s]£550[/s] £500 + shipping - they're £800-900 ish new in the shops (local collection is of course more than welcome cos it's not little or light!)
Words only go so far, don't they If you'd like to borrow SFT / BB / VT for a bit let me know!
Absolutely matey regarding words, you've given me a good and thorough description of how each has worked for you, but I still can't tell how they'd work in my context...I feel a bit like a blind man trying to learn colours... I've tried YouTube vids of both but none doing a direct comparison so each is done very differently and therefore isn't really comparable... Krispn is sending me his BB to try, I would really appreciate a short borrow of an sft if that's ok? Thanks for your help in trying to describe sounds with words!
From another thread, in which this question was asked of someone else :
Thanks for trying to describe them both...still not sure which would suit... I'm using a genz shuttle 9.0 so it's a clean crisp basic sound with a valve preamp. I'm wanting to do 2 things, the first is to add a bit of gritty sparkle while retaining the full sound going into the pedal and the second is for good old dirt but not fizz or fuzz...

Maybe someone should do some bass tone sims too, obviously not ricken#@$&er though cos that would be naughty!

Oh my that looks superb! Speedy progress too although I guess he's got loads he can't finish yet so he's cracking on with what he can ;-)

Back into bass playing after a long time away ...

Are any of them localish to you? Trying before you buy is really really helpful as all necks and hands were not born equal! -
