What tunes have you been learning today?
steve-bbb replied to gary mac's topic in General Discussion
our bunch have selceted this on the 'to do next' list ive categorically told them i will only start looking at it if they are 100% on it - not technically difficulty to play, more of a memory feat, two and half minutes , 64 plus bars and no two bars the same, and my grey cells are deteriorating daily here at an rapid pace -
Do people hate Hartke? Or is it just kids who haven't tried them? From the customer service side on here alone, I would try a Hartke rig any day..
+1 loads of hartke fans on here that ive noticed over last few years - i currently use a hartke rig which incidentally is better than the trace rig i owned back in early 90s and only half the price imho hartke are the best bang for buck on the market

it's not just about playing in front of or behind the beat either it's also a question of degree and not unexpectedly it's all down to minute variations and the most subtle of nuances for example take a slow mellow bluesy type number - play too far behind the beat and you will sound plain and simple out of time - play on the beat or too close to the beat and it will sound 'not laid back enough' takes a lot of practice and experience and can often be one of those things where if you try too hard you will stuff it up good and proper and overcook it ed - imho ymmv mcton etc etc
PM me next time, I have a guitaist friend in Wantage who needs to get out more he keeps theatening to start playing again. I was amused at the thought of 4 bands all arguing who was to be sent to Faringdon to see you, and drawing lots. -- oh alright I'll go =
wouldnt be a chap called Reg would it ?

do-able but expect the result to avry depending upon the room, placement, dampening, ambient noise etc etc our band have one and our guitarists uses it to record rehearsals and gigs - you really need to experiment with it to get anything vaguely reasonable from the built in mics personally speaking having seen how they record i would put the funds towards an LED light bar or something

a double stacked J with series/parallel switching?

sounds great ... I particularly like Electric Sheep edit - in fact the whole list is extremley listenable

if youre ever likely to be using your rig where you might set up and allow other players to use it, personally i would opt for the LH500 as the controls are so basic and simple and it is impossible to overload the input as they are designed not to clip with line level inputs even when the amp is totally maxed out the HA's can still get a decent sound but if you plan on allowing it to be used by other players at all then the options on the controls are 'too much' and there is a possibility that if you combine certain options that you could overload and cause damage ie both A & B input volumes too high together with EQ on and slope control on in + range would do some damage eventually to the head and/or cab(s) regards amp loading, somebbody on here will probably know the answer very soon if not try emailing or phoning Hartke - they are very helpful
Amazing isn`t it, "it always happens", so instead of sorting things so that it doesn`t, they try and remove the Sat option. Still, I suppose seeing as the only option - as far as I know - is Parcelforce receiving it from Customs, they have the monopoly/no competition, so no incentive to help the customer.
what monopoly? there are loads of delivery companies available - guess it depends on who the US delivery company use as their partners overseas - some of the larger ones dont even go outside their own - i know personally that if you fedex a parcel in London to NYC it goes fedex all the way - had i used UKMail then not sure who would have delivered it in NYC
By the looks of the list of amps being brought ear plugs may be the order of the day...
if last year is anything to go by then ear plugs should be handed out at the entrance like a big bowl of sweeties was a fund day out but certainly was not enjoying the drive home back around the m25 with a thumping headache -
not a lot to be honest bought a nice little collection and then one of those boss bcb60 cases to keep them all nice and tidy - carry them from gig to gig but so far only ever really use one of them (Boss LMB-3)
Big fan of Joyce ...

Teaching analog recording to modern students may seem a bit anachronistic, but the quality is undeniable, even when compared with Protools HDx through the Apogee Symphony AD's. The CLASP system just keeps it very modern and useful. I still love the sound of drums and bass off 2" 30ips tape. (yeah 15ips is cool too, and Clive will tell you 8 track 2" is the bomb). https://www.uwl.ac.uk/academic-schools/music/facilities/music-technology-facilities
Our keys is 19 and is a student at SAE so he found the old school analogue experience very interesting too

its an old pic btw there is also an electroharmonix NY2A sitting on top of that lot now (apologies for the sh*tty quality - almost as rough as my bass playing)
This is a fantastic thread that goes someway to answer your question (or not): http://basschat.co.u...he-price-basses Cheap is a difficult quality/quantity to define. I've gigged a £400 bass for ten years. Is £400 cheap? £40 a year, maybe £2-£3 a gig? Don't know.
that would make bobby vega's J worth about 3p per gig

very nice and clean

here is my main gigging bass - it comes out with the intention of being the back up to my status, but more often than not it's the status which stays in the bag pre-loved squier affinity 140 from t'local music emporium - sounded fine just stock but now it has wizard hammers the status doesnt stand a chance tbh

sounds great! many 'famous' bass players have been 'pretending' to play for years and look how rich and famous some of them are now -
... and just how much 'better' than compact cassette does one have to get..? If it sounds right, it is right, no..?
and the tascam isnt running at 1&7/8 ips like a standard cassette either
Who knows. Just what my bass tutors tell me to try
aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaarggggggggggggggggggggggggggggghhhhhhhhhhhhhhh
