2.
Is there any way of reducing or eliminating the sound transfer into the lower flats? Something I can put under the amp perhaps.
play geeetar on a serious note on the mattress of bed or sofa cushions seems to isolate it quite nicely hope this helps

 7.
No, they're a well-chosen colour. You can step in all sorts of stuff and no one will know it was you. Apart from the smell of course.
Well it does come in handy being naturally smelly
 8. i do feel that there is generally a lot of confusion between technical excellence and showmanship (not with us discerning lot on here i hasten to add!) - and where does one stop and the other start? imho the best technical guitarists around are coincidentally ones who are the least flashy - all the showboating is often intentionally or unintentionally at the expense of technical excellence - entertaining it may be but bit its like a big mac meal and usually leaves you wanting something of substance some manage to straddle the border and sit on the fence and tease us with showboating on minute then blinding us with technical expertise the next - its all a matter of taste and there is no accounting for it personally i cant get my head around how any guitarist can squeal with delight at malsteen fretw***ing himself into oblivion, and be completely uninspired by the likes of holdsworth or fripp - but i guess it would be boring if we were all the same - it would be like a bland musical version of 'new labour's diversity and inclusivity where everybody would be joint equal number one in the charts all time regardless of whether or not they can play the bloody thing
 9.
Mo Foster made one of these in the early '70s for finger-style practice. Carried it in his pocket, must have found it useful.
what for? squashing spiders?
 10. on a serious note - if you have a laptop/ipad type thingy with you why not use the spare time away to do some theory learning stuff - plenty of apps and vids and tutorials online http://www.notreble.com/apps/

 15. 15 year old jazz guitarist Andreas Varady performs a piece which he wrote for Quincy Jones' 80th birthday party. 12 years old - Andreas Varady at Nancy Blake's, Limerick http://youtu.be/MiRxLgyN_Lo
 16. Nige i take it youve heard of this chap? unlike Mr Gottardo he is now gigging with big names and being endorsed by big names, and imho all very much deservedly considering he (was) 14 (when he first started coming to media attention) there is very little to fault - great soloing and improv structure - obviously very metheny influenced but that's no bad thing - and very modest and no showboating
 17.
Presumably this is the same attitude that prevails when voting commences for the monthly Basschat Composition Challenge.
im a miserable cynic and i still voted
 18. im sure i would have enjoyed it more if the drummer hadnt been dragging it like a doom dirge and the bass moved off the low B just once in a while to provide a hint of dynamic lift to the melody at appropriate points compositionally some nice stuff in there but he said it all in 1:30 so the remaining 3:00 were just more of the same without actually going anywhere imho ymmv mcton etc etc just my 2p worth you understand
 19. heres a nice little example of the bass pushing the beat along - how PHAT is this bass tone!! http://youtu.be/IrQIx8kN1-Y?t=2m
