1.
Not really true . . . Bands happy to play for free and helping themselves You may think that's a bad thing because it affects bands trying to earn money, but is it really any different to a shop that sells stuff cheaper than its competitors? We have laws against cartels for a reason don't we?
but you wouldnt open up a shop and give it away for free would you?
 2.
I have to say that I absolutely respect any artist who refuses to rely on their old hits. Any fan of Kate Bush knows that her approach to her art is based on a very personal concept of integrity and is not led by the idea of 'giving the people what they want'. Jazz artist who continually regurgitate their old hits are given pretty short shrift and playing the solos 'as on the record' woudl see them laughed out of a theatre. I believe you should expect what the artist is prepared to give. If you want the hits, play the cd.
hoorah
 3.
People preferring some parts of an artist's output over others? Don't find it puzzling at all personally.
puzzling yes predicatbale no depends i guess if you prefer the short snappy soundbites or the long stuff innit
 4. I find it slightly puzzling that there are Kate bush fans complaining ( for want of a better word) that she is doing 9th wave complete at the possible expense of withering heights :/
 5. Riffy and proggy This should do it http://youtu.be/hTrCzYBQJu0
 6.
Aye there's 'sex' in it....but really I don't think it's a problem to be honest. Stick with the first one as it is the name after all as it's already been mentioned
sometimes they are all thats left available after interweb scumbags snipe all the proper names
 7. Stopped playing from about 94 - 11 so about 17 years and then decided to go out and get another bass and resume. After three years of reasonably regular gigging my playing is way better these days because the huge gap gave me plenty of time to completely forget all the bad playing habits I had developed . Main issue these days is lugging the cabs around and arthritic fingers!
 8. And if you get bored you can alwYs have fun counting this... http://youtu.be/ASoUUKzgCG0
 9. Have a listen to It Bites - the big lad in the windmill and Francis Dunnery solo material especially let's go do what happens and the recent Frankenstein monster http://youtu.be/-V_ECioqgWM http://youtu.be/WO3oGkbq0N0

 11. [q
I've just listened to a massive build up for Killing in the Name , and they never got to even the 2nd verse , before stopping it . Waste of time
maybe its too politically sensitive at the moment you know how they are at the beeb
 12. BASS like a saxomophone but cooler
 13. i dont know but im sure if its radio 2 there will probably be some kenny g in there - hes a jazz guitarist no? suirely they can have jazz riffs in the top 100 yes? im just keeping my fingers crossed that nothing from coldsore makes it in the list
 14.
Its not just in London. That, and similar scams, like paying to use the rubbish house P.A have been going for years.
maybe that is why the (medway council run) Central Theatre has no decent billing to speak of these days
 15.
I know that one of those guitarists isn't available for the Hammersmith shows, cos my mate Carlos is doing those gigs as dep. He's played for KB before too. Carlos is a killer guitarist. I haven't given his surname deliberately as I don't know if this is official news yet.
The band line up look seriously good doesnt it but alas i fear she will most likely not be playing small to medium size intimate venues at reasonable ticket prices so i will have to settle for the youtube version after the event edit - i think if i could afford a ticket i would probably go as much to see omar hakim and john giblin as Ms Bush herself
 16.
There's a guy at my gym who spends 5 full minutes doing pelvic thrusts as a warm up. Even though it may feel good, some things are not meant to be done in public. (I bet he thinks he's really good at it)
17.
Us, in our rehearsal room, newly refurbished... We are The Daub'z.
are you sure? looks more like amon duul to me
 18. our band is 16 19 45(ish) 50 51 52 as they say ... DON'T GROW UP ... IT'S A TRAP!
 19. nobody hearing a B natural then??
 20.
I thought Bb too but I've been wrong before. Anyway playing the B just gives a different flavour. Your last phrase 6-5-6, I would play using open string 1-0-1 - if you see what I mean.
yes totally agree different flavour but both work dont they which just adds to confusion for silly old fools like me what puzzles me about the whole pitch perception thing is sometimes that deceptively simple things are the deal breakers for example the little twiddly runs in the bridge section of cee lo greens forget you i have no problem in hearing and picking out the notes but one single simple note in troublemaker has me stumped
 21. haha thnaks for posting seems my ears need this app
 22. actually i think i might have mistitled the thread its an ear/brain coordination thing surely ?
 23. put this in here to avoid cloggin up the general forum my ears are having a moment in deciphering a note - i suspect many people experience this phenomenon where you can work out a whole phrase but there is always one note in the middle where you just cant hear and evaluate the pitch correctly currently bugging me at the moment as im just transcribing it as we are about to cover it in our set list is olly murs troublemaker i'll put it up in tab for now for simplicitiy chorus G------------------------------------------------------------------- D-----1--3----------------------1--3-------------------------------- A---3-------------x--3-------3----------------5--6------------------ E--------------3----------------------------6------------------------ is X a B flat or B natural or does it change throughout? im hearing both
 24. Oh blx go on then I'll give it a go
