why do you want to stretch your fingers? i swear if we had twelve fingers on each hand you would get people arguing that you should keep your hand fixed in one position to play one whole octave looking at my own style the wrist is fairly 'fixed' in position, but not inflexible, and to compensate for not being either able or wishing to play one finger per fret down the low end, i prefer to slide my whole hand in position to make the fingers fit the frets (thus the movement is accomodated by allowing shoulder/elbow to move freely) the frets dont move but your arm does! - take your fingers to the frets, not the other way round, it's a lot less hassle
24 tracks across 1" of tape. Thats a narrow track width and not much better than compact cassette!
agreed but then Ranscombe have purposely stayed analogue - im sure there are plenty of vst plugins to simulate all manner of old school analogue rack mount studio effects but then you wouldnt be able to have fun like this

Studio day today 930 start finished by 630 - brief to our producer was to keep as spontaneous and live sounding as possible so we have a reasonable facsimile of what we sound like on stage for our punters and would be bookers to listen to samples on our website - not too shabby for 8 tracks single takes in 9 hours All recorded live one take with vocals and back vocals following and then expertly mixed by Jim Riley at Ranscombe Studios Unfortunately the power supply on my bass pod died so i had to make do without the nice cab modelling tracks on soundcloud thanks

to a degree i guess it depends on how well the music scene in felixstowe is thriving and how well the local education authority promote music in schools ? here in Medway we have had an art college for many decades now which is a big driver of young local originals bands and more recently also universities bringing even more students/music in to the area a decent local music shop is also a good stimulus - we are fortunate enough to have Manny's Music in chatham which is currently stocking more vinyl than CD's (and selling very well) and also stocks a good range of affordable guitars basses acoustics amps and effects and also acts as a sort of drop in hub for all the local bands the only downside is Medway Council seem to blazing a trail for councils everywhere in regard to noise abatement orders targetted at long standing well established live music venues -
i just LOL'd
I have been having mixed feelings about one of my bands lately (the first link in my signature) and I'm trying to decide if I may end up leaving when we get together to talk to each other about it. I've played in the band for several years; we've had some really enjoyable gigs and recorded some things I'm quite pleased with. It's an amateur concern, as while some gigs are paid, when all band activities are taken into account we break even or less. I also play in two other projects, one of which gigs very rarely and the other of which can occasionally be busy though it's quite sporadic. When asked about my availability for gigs, I will confirm the earliest offer for a given date without giving priority to any one band, so short notice gigs (less than a fortnight ahead) are sometimes turned down. This summer I've had limited availability as my Father-in-Law had a prolonged period of illness and passed away last month and we've had to travel up and down from Scotland to England a number of times to care for him and my Mother-in-Law and to sort things out after his death. I had to cancel a couple of gigs at short notice the week he died, but what else can you do? The band keep accepting gigs when I have told them I'm not available and playing them without bass, which for our particular lineup isn't going to work very well. I have told the band that I'm uncomfortable with this as I don't feel that going out like that represents us very well and I would prefer to feel like a core part of the band rather than an optional add-on. If anything I would rather they used a dep rather than going out bass-less. Two members of the band have responded to this by saying how disappointed they were in my limited availability recently and that they thought I must be losing interest, and this is when when I've already made my family situation quite clear to them. We have already disagreed a few times recently over which gigs we should accept, as our singer believes we need to say yes to everything in order to "make it". I have no concept of trying to "make it" and just want to play gigs which I enjoy. We haven't worked on any new material in over a year and it appears that my priorities are not the same as the rest of the band. I'm fond of this band, so it's a difficult choice to make. Looking at this description, what do people reckon?
extremley unreasonable of them given that you explained your family circumstances and if they are not prepared to accept that there are some things in life that take priority over bands and gigs then fully agree with everybody else in that its time to find/start a new band as for your singers comments about making it ... im firmly of the mindset that if you dont have anything positive to say then its often best to say nothing, so i wil politely decline to comment good luck with the new band

we have a small one of these which is often used as a montior just lately but for the purposes you describe might do the trick http://www.behringer.com/EN/Category/Loudspeaker-Systems.aspx?s=K300
