  1. Rig for my two gigs this weekend. It'll upset the OCD folk.
  2. Could you get around this using a patch bay, with the added advantage that the M18's inputs are protected from constant inserting/removing leads? Like this https://www.thomann.de/gb/millenium_pb16_xlr_out.htm
  3. Also, these are not MB, just Fusion 550. I have one - best amp I've ever used.
  4. My blues/soul/rockabilly band Motor City Blue are playing the Blues Bar in Harrogate tonight from 9:30pm. Hoping the football fans will be in a good mood.
  5. This is really useful thanks, I'm right at the beginning of this journey and reading this is very encouraging.
  6. So I finally had a go at using in-ears at our last gig. It was a bit Heath Robinson, but worth pursuing further. We're a 4 piece blues/soul band, backline for guitar and bass, with just vocals through the Mackie PA. I've got a pair of KZ AS-10s and a Zoom H5 recorder. I took a DI from my bass amp into one of the H5 inputs, and a feed from the floor monitor into the other, with the two inbuilt microphones picking up ambient/drums/guitar. I had no way of securing the Zoom to my mic stand so bought a flimsy but adequate camera tripod to mount it on. Plugged the headphones directly into the H5. Pros - I could hear bass and vocals must better than usual, especially the vocals. Cons - I didn't get enough isolation with the AS-10s, drums and guitar were still loud, but I've got some larger tips that I think will work better. I couldn't move far from the H2. All in all its well worth pursuing further. I'll try the larger tips. I've already bought a thing to attached the H5 to my mic stand. And I'll see if I can talk the band into having bass and guitar going through the PA.
  7. No there tonight, but there's a gig on at Wharf Chambers https://www.wharfchambers.org/event/volk-soup-gladboy-sigmund-void-wharf-chambers/ And another at the BRudenell http://www.brudenellsocialclub.co.uk/whats-on/cola/ Both great venues. The Grove as well http://thegroveinnleeds.co.uk/event/deep-blue-3-2/ Very small, old pub. No idea what the band is. And some jazz at the Domino club https://www.thedomino.co.uk/event-details/another-workout-12
  8. I got a pair from Mark at Limelight for my Japanese Jazz. Unsurprisingly they match my Limelight fretless perfectly. Decent price too. I think you've had a Limelight fretless haven't you? In which case you already know what they are like.
  9. Apparently a previously unannounced Jack White performance has been scheduled for when my son's band (Mush) are playing. They were already up against Elbow. He reckons they'll be playing to grass.
  10. Big Thief have been the highlight so far for me.
  11. Another chipping in to say I really enjoyed Nick Seymour's bass with Crowded House, despite never really being a fan of the band. Plus I got to see my kids twice in the audience on the footage! Rufus Wainwright was pretty good too.
  12. Albums by the bands Omni and Mush use Musicmaster bass.
  13. I'll take one of these if they're still available. PMd
  14. King Khan and the Shrines at the Brudenell next Monday. That'll wake me up from any Easter slumbers!
  15. 12 years later (yikes) my DIY one is still going strong.
  16. I bough a Hooker's Green pedal from Ben. Absolutely flawless deal, you can engage with Ben with complete confidence.
  17. I have two racks. One just has my Gallien Krueger Fusion 550. It comes to gigs. The other has a Korg Tuner, Sansamp VT Bass, and a little GK MB200. It comes to rehearsals and gigs. Every now and then I think about taking the MB200 out and putting something else in the space, but I can never think what I need. I'm not really into compressors.
  18. Completely different genres but check out the first Gilbert O'Sullivan album, and songs by Frankie Valli, the Night for example.
  19. Lou Reed's Take No Prisoners is two albums of banter and monologue with the occasional song thrown in. One of my favourite albums of all time.
  20. Recent one with Bruno Mars...glorious.
  21. Yeah, seeing Dinosaur Jr in the early 90s the the Mean Fiddler (I think it was) destroyed my hearing. About 20 years later I thought I'd give him another try and saw J Mascis and the Fog (I think, with Mike Watt on bass, at the Cockpit in Leeds). My ears have never been the same. Hidden in amongst the noise are some great tunes, check out the chords in Repulsion, and Little Fury Things. Can't remember much out the bass parts I'm afraid
  22. The GK MB200 fits the bill and there's one for sale on the forum now.
  23. That is very tasteful. GLWTS.
  24. Very nice , and I'm on holiday near Monmouth from tomorrow for a week. Fortunately there's no room in the car!
