1. I love the sound and look of my S212 but sometimes wish I'd gone for 2 separate cabs - Its just a little bit heavy/bulky to get up the stairs. Great sound though, everything I need for my Fusion 550.
2. Reading this I feel very lucky to be in (near) Leeds which has a wealth of venues with live music available every night of the week. For originals we have the Brudenell Social Club, a fantastic venue with 2 rooms and frequently gigs on in both rooms. Smaller original venues like Wharf Chambers, Headrow House, Hyde Park Book Club are always putting something on. For covers in Leeds there's the Duck and Drake, the Grove, and wider afield there's hundreds of pubs that have bands at weekends. And I haven't even mentioned the larger venues (O2, Arena). Here's a weekly Facebook post that someone puts together locally showing gigs on this weekend in the Yorkshire area - a really lively scene. Blue, I'd suggest finding out about the local originals scene (there must be one, no matter how small). Go along and check out what's happening - it might not be the sort of music you usually listen to, but I bet there's something you'll enjoy, and you'll get out and about and meet some musicians who perhaps have a different viewpoint to you, but will enjoy playing to you and meeting you. I'm not suggesting that its somewhere you'll pick up gigs, but as a musician you might really enjoy the often very original and vibrant (and sometimes challenging) work.
3. I generally use Spotify nowadays but often buy physical (vinyl or CDs) product from bands at gigs. Rarely from record shops these days.
4. That's incredible value, Blue. I feel most festivals here in the UK have completely lost their way and are nothing more than a commercial rip-off.
5. Hi and welcome. Another ex-Kiwi here - Gisborne until 1987.
6. I went from a RB700 to an MB Fusion to a Fusion 550. Al great amps. I like the Fusion 550 the best but my back often wonders why I didn't just stick with the MB - not quite as much depth to the tone but still plenty to work with. Where are you? You're welcome to try it if you're near Harrogate.
7. Ball of Confusion by the Temptations. And Everyday People by Sly and the Family Stone.
8. The DHA pedals can do low to high gain tube drive. Quite possibly not easy to find in Stockholm though.
9. There's one in the shop around the corner from me. It's not dissimilar in shape to the Fender 5 bass (James Jamerson had one so that's alright!). The Cribs are a great band and the Jarman brothers write and record some really good songs and put on awesome shows. They do a huge amount the promo and band admin themselves and are very approachable, decent, down to earth guys. I can't think of anyone more worthy of a sig bass.
10. I once had some stuff for my guitars made by a leather worker who normally made horse-related products. It's worth making enquiries in those directions.
11. I had a Gen 1 with steel corners and 1 Speakon. I always think the 2 Speakon/15" speaker elements are the defining feature of the Gen 2 but I could be wrong.
12. And raspberry jam, you've earned it.
13. Less that 1000 off my serial number and almost identical. Great bass, good luck with the sale.
14. Tablas. The hand strength you need!!!
15. Martha Wainwright's bass player was using one of these last night and it sounded awesome.
16. What a fascinating thread, meanderings included.
17. I love mine. Started with a 700RB115 combo, went lightweight with a MB Fusion, and picked up the Fusion 550 about 14 months ago. Great amp, much more authority than the MB. I can't imagine ever wanting to change it - occasionally I wonder what a valve power section might bring, but really this has everything I need. In Harrogate if ever you're over this way and want to try it.

feedback for Deedee

Nice easy deal with Dan, prompt payment, excellent comms. Cheers, Martin
19. Horace Panter plays in a blues band when not playing with The Specials.
20. Probably "Christmas 1979" by Wild Billy Childish and the Musicians of the British Empire". Some of the lyrics... "My father walked in pissed through the door And chucked the telly across the floor Then he fell drunk to his bed And these were the last words he ever said Merry f***ing Christmas to you all! Merry f***ing Christmas to you all!" The last line repeated ad infinitum.
