1. I've got to face the fact that I just don't get on with four string basses any more so up for sale goes my lovely W&T EJ4. This was born fretless but I had Jon Shuker put in some medium frets (as well as do a setup) last year, so the frets have virtually no wear. It's the EJ model, which, as you may guess, is W&T's take on the Jazz bass. This has a worn finish - not relic'd like it has been played to death, but more a kind of 'barn find' aged effect (I made that up) which I really love. Info as follows: - Alder body - 3 piece ash neck with angled maple headstock capped with some fancy wood - Tanzanian blackwood board with brass side markers - Brass Nut - Brass edge position markers - Hipshot Lollipop tuners - Mama P and J pups - East/W&T preamp which is basically an East P Retro blendable between both pups. Mains chargeable via jack socket (charger included). Active/Passive. - Ebony Control knobs The range of sounds is huge as you can imagine and it plays really nicely. Weight is 8.7lbs. This will come in a top quality Mono M80 semi-rigid case. I'd prefer a sale to a trade, but could always be tempted by a quality 5 string You are welcome to give it a try – I'm in Nottingham, not far from J26 of the M1 I can wrap it up safely and send it by courier it by courier to mainland UK for £20 If you are further away than that, please ask for a quote My feedback: http://basschat.co.u..._1#entry2730811 I have these nice pics from before it was fretted. I'll take some fretted ones when I get a bit of decent light:
2.
But will I get heft?
Yes, Yes you will
3.
Listen carefully.... *ping*.... I've just found the first person to put on my ignore list.
You've come this far and this is your first?? I had to laugh at the suggestion that CK's basslines are all too 'pedestrian' This one (officially credited to her) is as pedestrian as a caffinated meerkat in an earthquake: http://youtu.be/MlHMpOypzFg
4. Really sad. I saw her live a couple of times and she exuded energy and personality. RIP
5. Anyone tried the HAZ labs one? I had it for a few years and absolutely loved it. Never tried an original one though
6. Finally got my new pedalboard together: [Img] http://i1244.photobucket.com/albums/gg580/christopher_brown14/rackbags/20161118_212851_zpstvlj0phi.jpg" class="ipsImage" /> Most of the time it's just Polytune Mini then straight in and out of the Loop Logic for clean signal. Loop 1 is OC2 > Dwarf Bitch (with 'Igor' Pressure pad) > Xerograph (with Hot Hand expression) Loop 2 is the Density Hulk That's my practice format. Live, the Density Hulk goes straight to the desk: [Img] http://i1244.photobucket.com/albums/gg580/christopher_brown14/rackbags/20161118_211330_zpsxmaudqr5.jpg" class="ipsImage" /> And slightly off topic, the siren effect, which I used to get with self oscillating Xerograph/LFO/Compressor, we now get with the Rigsmith RS1 (operated by keyboard player) very cool and much more versatile [Img] http://i1244.photobucket.com/albums/gg580/christopher_brown14/rackbags/20161118_212925_zpslawbykqu.jpg" class="ipsImage" />
7.
One last thing...just have to say its a fantastic amp...the eq is the best ive ever used...
Yes and yes!
8.
but does the ON position mean when its showing or do you move the switches up so the ON doesnt show like mine is...
Move your head a bit and you'll see the 'ON'
9. Here you can see mine: It is set to 1000w @ 4 ohms and both switches (hidden by grille) are located up towards 'ON', and not down towards '12' (printed at the bottom of the switch hidden by grille) Both the labels 'ON' and '12' are visible at all times, and are never hidden by the sliders. It's very difficult to see both at the same time due to the metal grille. The sliders, as you look at my picture, are in the ON mode ie they are in the up position. Note the ON label is still visible.
10. I'll have a look tonight when I get the chance
11. Best of luck mate. It might be worth chatting to Shep, as he started a similar venture a couple of years back, The Really Awsome Pedalboard Company. http://reallyawesomepedalboards.co.uk I'm not sure whether it's still going
12. Like others say, not driven harder in that it would recieve the same power from the amp. However, the one with the lower rating may be so because of lower excursion/other reasons. Therefore it might be 'driven harder' ie pushed to its limit more.
13. Another endorsement for Jon Shuker here.
14. I wouldn't categorise a tuner as an effect, so am taking having one as a given
15. Low Pass Filter and octave
16. Crest CA9. The daddy. Heavy though.
17. A mate who puts on a gig once a yearish, playing tonight at The Battersea Barge, a barge on the bank of the Thames which has been converted into a venue. I'm roadie/helper tonight. [Img] http://i1244.photobucket.com/albums/gg580/christopher_brown14/Mobile%20Uploads/20161112_163305_zps67dlmwcm.jpg" class="ipsImage" /> [Img] http://i1244.photobucket.com/albums/gg580/christopher_brown14/Mobile%20Uploads/20161112_163321_zpseim1vkpy.jpg" class="ipsImage" />
18. I keep my band's gig thread updated on the offchance anyone might fancy coming. It also makes a nice record of all our gigs, not to mention handy when updating the annual PRS gig form.
19. He sounds like a really nice bloke
20. Dan bought a pedal from me in a friendly, effortless deal with good communication. Dood officially has the recommendation of Roland Rock.
21.
I think that yes, it can work, and indeed it does work, it's just that some folk don't like it. It's taste isn't it at the end of the day ? My musician tastes are different to the next persons, not better, just different. Me, I love it, and would I much rather hear bass playing solo material, by a player with proficient skills and artistry like Michael Manring or Steve Lawson, than someone belting out dull old bass lines on a P bass strung with flats, no matter how 'locked' in they are with the drummer. That's me though .
As you say, it's down to taste, rather than narrow-mindedness.
22. Bought some GeorgeL L stuff from Higgie and all was great
23. Bought a pedal from Si. All good in the hood. Cheers!
