1. The more I hear from Marco the more apparent it becomes that they weren't trying to pull the wool over anyone's eyes. Just a bad decision to make the change before publicising it. Nice to see they've reduced the weight and not the quality though
2. Hi wishface. The above comments pretty much sum it up. I paid for my years subscription to the marketplace and sold my cab within a few days so it was well worth it for me!
3.
isn't the "Traveler" range so called because it was compact, light & easy to transport. So, why of all the products was this made heavier!
This question has been answered:
excuse me for my english I know that is not the best, I decided to use a Particle Board for 102P because I was worried about vibration, that we never had, but i can admit now, that we are coming back also in this mode,
Marco, does this mean you will be moving back to ply for the 102P?
4.
Dear all...
Thanks Marco, Out of interest how did you decrease the weight on the other cabs? And what was the reason for increasing the weight on the 102P?
5. I used to be 100% Cliff, and always took the weewee out of Jason (mostly because I was immature and thought that playing with a pick was lame), but really came to respect what he did, how tight his playing was, and how great his tone is. I loved learning the bass line he recorded for Blackened and it's a massive tragedy that you can barely hear him on Justice.
6. I must admit, I'm one of those dickheads that talks through pretty much every band I've ever seen... Unless I'm really drunk and shouting along with the words... Don't know which is worse
7. I've got one of these in my bedroom, really good for practice and I've used it for monitoring when recording lame youtube covers
8. I used to have a Korg Pitchblack. It seems the sturdiest one out there, good quality switch and mute function, and very clear display. Only got rid because the Zoom B3 also has a built in tuner
9. Someone once told me the guitar was originally intended to be fretted with the right hand for this reason. Don't know how true that is. Interestingly I saw a band the other week where the bass player was playing a right handed bass in a left handed fashion... It hadn't even been restrung, the E string was on the bottom rather than the top!!
10.
Up to a point, Lord Copper. You may find certain impediments:
Haha fair point but it's doable for short distances. Putting it back down is the hard bit!!
11.
I thought Jason put in a hell of a lot more effort aswell as the perfect person in terms of style/image too.
Couldn't agree more. He had the aggression and the tone!
12. My first 6 string was a red one of these. Cost me £149 and it was a bargain even at that price! Really comfortable to play, and if I wasn't slightly OCD about only having Peavey basses I'd never have sold it!
13. New strings are a real game changer. If you like the sound of steels try the elixir ones they last a really long time!
14. It's good to know the specs haven't changed much. For me, its mainly to do with the fact that part of the allure was the Made In Italy thing. Paying the same for something that no longer says that doesn't seem right to me, especially when it's well known that the Labour costs in Indonesia are lower. Sure, the quality may be the same or better due to the double testing but it still bothers me. Anyway, welcome to the forum Marco! It's great to have more ways to interact with manufacturers, and I'm sure you guys will benefit from the forum too.
15. I've now moved over to a Peavey 410 with wheels on it so weight isn't an issue any more
16. My first ever bass is one of these in the same colour but with flame maple top instead of quilted. Really lovely to play! Nice midrange tone from these
17.
To be fair, Marco has stated that only one cab has increased in weight and not the one the OP mentioned. It would be very helpful if the OP could post the actual weights of the two cabs that started this whole topic. A set of bathroom scales would probably be accurate enough.
Actually it was the 102P mentioned in the OP. It would be interesting to see what the actual weight difference is. To be fair if its only 1.4kg that's hardly a deal breaker. The whole thing is still a bit of a disaster though.
18. I think it looks kind of cool, but the dot inlays seem out of place.
19. Generally, ported cabs are more efficient, and are able to produce more lows. Whereas an 810 will sound tighter and be more pronounced in the mids
20. I once bought a sansamp in cash converters for £45 because it had a knob missing. I was well pleased!
21. I replaced a normal one with a programmable and haven't noticed any difference
22.
Having fixed mids in the 'wrong' position is a little pointless imo and I'd always opt for sweepable.
Absolutely. I'm not talking about active preamps here but with my markbass F1 head, the low mid frequency is too low so I always leave it flat.
23. Marco claims the cabs have not increased in weight, but then goes on to say that the traveller 210 has increased by 1.4kg but that it was his decision. Strange.
24. It looks very similar to the Peavey Grind basses, only with active electronics. I had a Shine 6 string bass that was great, and I think Harley Bentons are made in the same place... Only thing I'd be wary of is that mine had to have a neck shim to make it comfortable to play, and this one is a through neck. If you go used you could get a lot of bass for the price that one's going for!
25. Bugger, I'm gigging in Burnley!
