1. That's pretty much identical to my 6 string that set me back £280
2. Pictures might help, but Peavey change the specs of their instruments so regularly it would be difficult to get exact information on any of the more recent ones. The Grinds are very good basses though! If the wings on the body are a darker wood then it's probably Imbuya (brazailian walnut), with a 5 piece maple and mahogany neck. They have changed the bridges a lot as well, I have one with individual bridge saddles, and a very recent one with a gigantic black chunk of metal for a bridge. The older ones had a more traditional fender style bridge. All very good especially for the money!
3. That's a really cool looking bass, and if its an 80s Ibanez it's gonna be incredible!
4. Still no response on the Markbass FB page, but I remember last time I contacted them near to NAMM they were very busy and took a little while to get back to me.
5.
As a Moderator you must know you cannot try and sell gear outside the correct Lounge......( how about a RJ TTE 500 Head and New York 151 RJ cab for £2000?)
*reports post* But no I doubt the value would increase THAT much, even once this has become common knowledge. I need to take a few months to find amplification that sounds pretty much exactly the same to replace it with first!
6.
I can see second hand Italian heads and cabs increasing in value..?
Anyone want to buy an Italian 104HF for £1000?
7. I'm really hoping that somebody at Markbass can respond and give a reasonable explanation soon. I've always proudly displayed my love for them as a product and a company. If it is just a cost cutting exercise, increasing the weight, reducing the quality, and the value to the customers, then I won't want to have my name associated with them any longer.
8. If the weight increase is that noticeable on their small cabs I dread to think what it would be like if I was to get a second 4x10
9. Diago boards are pretty heavy duty, but for the protection they offer they're pretty worth it! I imagine the pedaltrain ones would probably be the lightest, but without a hard case they may not be protected as much as you need... Well not if you Chuck it around like I do
10.
This seems like a good deal:- http://www.djmmusic....ar-strings.aspx
Well spotted! £30 for a set of Elixirs is what I'd call very reasonable
11.
I always go for brighter. You can always reduce brightness if you don't want it - but you can't increase brightness if it's not there!
I'm exactly the same! Steel strings, Class D amp, neo cabs with tweeters.... Then I bugger it all up with compression and overdrive
12. Still looks nicer than that ugly Dean signature bass he had!
13. Paid Wud for a pack of DR strings Tuesday evening, he posted them the next morning and I got them the day after. They're brand new, exactly as described. Perfect transaction, thanks!
14. I read your links properly this time. They actually have different product codes so it might be that both are available. Fair enough! I've never tried DR strings, but the best way to describe the difference in tone for nickel and stainless steel is that nickel tends to be slightly warmer with more of a low mid growl... And stainless steel have a brighter, slightly more scooped sounding tone. Sometimes the steels feel slightly rougher under the fingers but it differs from one manufacturer to another.
15. Hmm... I think they change the specs of their strings quite a lot. I'm sure their coated ones used to be steel and are now nickel.... Either that or regular coated ones are steel and the neon's are nickel. It's so confusing!
16. I posted a question on the official Facebook group, Marco, Peter and Riccardo are usually active on there so I can't imagine a response would take all that long.
17. Do GK do neo cabs? I'm pretty sure I heard as much. If so it'd be more similar to what you're used to
18. I always practice with a clean sound, not even any compression. As you mentioned, it prevents the effects masking any microscopic errors, encouraging you to concentrate that little more on playing cleaner
19.
However, it is odd that they introduced a budget line (Black Line 250 I think) that was much cheaper, and made in Indonesia, and now it 'appears' their normal line of amps/cabs are going that way.
It does appear as though the Black Line was a tester to see if mass production in Indonesia would significantly reduce the quality of the equipment. It probably turned out that they were still to a satisfactory standard with cheaper labour costs, and so went for it. It is a shame though, as they always made a huge deal about being Made In Italy, and that there's some microscopic percentage failure rate. Hopefully it's only the weight that has increased!
20. On second thought, this is in FAR better condition than the one I borrowed... That one had survived being thrown out of an upstairs toilet window of a club during a riot, where it smashed straight through a car's rear window!
21.
Love it, not parting with that one !! lol
Damn
22.
Still got mine on after 3 years, great strings with a tone I love, and ALWAYS a talking point at gigs
Wow they can really last that long? I had Elixirs on before that they lasted a year before I broke the E, and that already impressed me! Can't wait
23. I think Harley Benton basses are rebranded Shines. If so, then they're incredible basses for the price. I had a 6 string Shine and it was one of the most comfortable I've played, easier than some 5s! It would probably benefit from some tweaking and a neck shim, and then youd fall in love with it.
24. I prefer using heavy compression with overdrive so it makes sense to me, certainly worth a go at the price the lomenzo goes for!
25. Still using that cl108? How is it?
