1. That's beautiful. Would have preferred the RBX style headstock though. Bet it sounds amazing!
2. I'd have gone for a minimum of .135 on the bottom string if its 34" scale. If it strings through the body you can get away with less and still have a punchy tone
3. I've only had one bass with a switchcraft Jack and it broke within 6 months
4. I've ordered from them a couple of times and been really happy with the service and speed of delivery. I don't know when they started using Yodel but I've had things delivered by that courier company before and there's always been some kind of problem however small.
5.
I agree that you'd be hard pushed to beat Peavey for budget bass quality.
Absolutely! The most expensive Peavey I own cost £370 from New, and for a neck through 35" scale with this kind of build quality and pretty much the entire thing being made of mahogany, and growly tone that's gonna be hard to beat!
6. It's like any job, you have a role. Some people create one, some people naturally have that persona. But it's very rare that watching an interview with a famous band/musician will show them exactly as they behave onstage.
7.
I do not have an opinion.
Yes you do But no, they're great pedals especially for the price! If you do find they're not quite authentic enough for your needs it's not a very expensive lesson learned. Personally I really like the time and modulation effects, and the tuner, DI and USB interface make it more than worth the money. Anything else is a bonus!
8. I prefer DI, most bass cab speakers aren't very prominent in the upper mids or treble. You can always eq it after to simulate a cab sound

Xmas FX

I got one of my presents early this year from the girlfriend... A Darkglass B3K! She's definitely a keeper
10. Sounds like a few people would benefit from this http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oneH4LFtFTI
11.
When I was in GAK in Brighton a few weeks ago they had an Ibanez BTB (I think) 7 string.
The one I saw was a BTB as well, maybe it wasn't just a one off as I originally thought!
12. Ibanez built one this year, don't know if it was a special edition or anything but it looked nice!
13.
Given their vast and varied range I find that slightly amusing
Yeah it's a really weird thing, all the ones I've used felt like the body was made of plastic, especially the RBX series. Like I said, there's absolutely nothing wrong with any of them, they just didn't feel right o.0
14. Yamaha basses are great. Well made and capable of incredible sounds.. they don't feel right to me though so I'd never own one.
15.
That is mainly because many bassists don't know any better and really shouldn't be writing reviews. Zoom multifx pedals are toys hence the low prices on them.
Thats a little bit harsh. Admittedly the OD effects aren't that inspiring, but everything else is incredibly good, especially at this price point. The only pedal I've replaced with it that I think was better was the ehx small stone phaser, but I can still get close enough to be happy
16.
Which in your opinion would be best, the MS-60b or B3 (i have no experience of these pedals). Cheers
B3, cause it's easier to use
17.
can either the MS-60 or B3 be a one box solution for getting close to the 'Hysteria', 'Time is running out' sound?
I reckon a bit of fuzz and synth and an EQ and you'd get pretty close!
18. The B3 appealed to me more because it can be used as an audio interface and an extra DI is never a bad thing! It's much more user friendly as well.
19. I've bought from GAK a few times and its always been a pleasant experience. They even fixed an amp for me months after I bought it
20.
I'm thinking about buying one purely for tuner, decent compression, amp modelling and the DI for live use.
Even though that's only a fraction of its capability it's STILL a bargain price for all that!
21. My markbass 104HF just sounds massive! Took me a while to really get used to it and tame the mids just enough to still sound nasty and aggressive but still good to my ears. I don't think I'll replace it.
22.
But of course beware of something sound great in the house and pre-band sound check as once it all fires up you can get lost with too much compression. It happened to me last week! Experimentation needed.
Yep that works with everything though! I've set myself a personal rule that I'm only ever allowed to tweak my tone at sound checks or gigs
23.
The b3k and lomenzo are on my gas list! What are they like in comparison?
The darkglass is aggressive and clanky, but somehow manages to sound kind of natural. I think it's because it keeps the lows clean below a certain frequency. It's also got a switch that adjusts how much low end gets distorted. If you want a super fat distortion you can have it. The lomenzo only drives a specific frequency in the mids which you can set. Also very versatile but very different. For high gain settings it's not as natural sounding but for everything else its more than enough!
24.
I am of the opinion that simpler is better and it doesn't get much simpler than an EH LPB-1
Good shout. I've never tried this pedal but EHX don't seem to be capable of 'getting it wrong'!
25. Yngwie is great, as long as you remember not to take him at all seriously
