  1. That looks great. ive sent a message to ask about production times / launch date. i really want to try that!
  2. For some reason that tuning hurts my brain. I don't know why. At the moment I'm playing big band stuff so most of it wasn't written for a 5 string anyway. Not really a problem to not have that extra string. And I'll still be keeping my Ray5 as it's very light for the breed. It just doesn't have as good a low B as the Marleaux does.
  3. I'm curious about that too.
  4. At rehearsal yesterday I took a 4 string. As it happens the 4 is close to the weight of the Marleaux but the headstock end is a lot lighter of course so it was more comfy. I saw on the BD site there are a couple of Sandbergs at 8lb levels - 4 string. I might have to go and try them out. I did own a 5 string TM5, sounded great but it was 10 lb. I found the neck a bit too big too.
  5. I like that a lot! I wonder how much it is.
  6. Lovely. Quite tempted by one myself.
  7. Has anyone found a proper light one yet? Spec sheets says average 8.8lb - the guys on Talkbass have found even a few sub 8lb, but from posts up there ^ it seems that so far the UK have got 9lb + ones. I sense a conspiracy! If I can raise the money then I might have to email all the big bass shops and just say - Find me one at 8lb. In black. GO!
  8. I've started to have a look at them - they are great. I play / volunteer in an educational trust group and I think the Jazz Ensemble might like to try a couple.
  9. The live version of "Can't get you out of my head" is disappointing. Lost all it's synthy dance goodness from the single.
  10. I'm sure! Alas my soffits need replacing before I spend any more on toys.
  11. Wow! That's light for a 6! I wonder how light they could make a 4 string? Nope. Must not ask. I can't afford it. Will buy a lottery ticket though!
  12. According to BGM - it's going to be built by Fender! He's still playing Alembic, but wanted something different too.
  13. Very classy. It's a 6 so my back has gone into spasm just looking at it, but nevertheless it looks brilliant.
  14. YOu will be. And Roger won't lie about the value as it won't be insured properly if that happens. Vat will be applied to the bass price and the shipping. Then there's import too. Assume about 25% on top of the cost of the bass to cover all of that. Don't risk not paying it on something like that - Customs can confiscate and destroy it.
  15. Blimey - they've gone up. I bought a 5 string set for £85 about a year ago!
  16. That is going to be an awesome bass! Just an idea though - Status necks can be a little heavier than wooden ones so if you have the cash ask Rob to drill for smaller tuners and get a set of Hipshot Ultralites on it. The difference between old school big plate fender tuners and the Ultralites can be as much as half a pound!
  17. From that site: (An expert report that complies with CPR Pt35 will cost a couple of hundred quid - and it's Small Claims so the ability to reclaim costs are very limited too) Six months or more If a fault develops after the first six months, the burden is on you to prove that the product was faulty at the time you took ownership of it. In practice, this may require some form of expert report, opinion or evidence of similar problems across the product range. Find out more about how to return a faulty item and claim a refund, repair or replacement from a retailer. You have six years to take a claim to the small claims court for faulty goods in England, Wales and Northern Ireland, and five years in Scotland. This doesn't mean that a product has to last six years - just that you have this length of time in which to make a claim if a retailer refuses to repair or replace a faulty product.
  18. Yes. but I am picky. Piano jazz and big band are my favourite.
  19. Anyone know how long the battery lasts in the Palmer?
  20. After playing it more I think I'll have to move it on. Gutting really but after an hour the back pain is unbearable. It's only 9lb! I must be getting old. Time to give it a polish and take photos.
  21. 3 kg = 6.6 lb. i am now very interested!
  22. The SVT4Pro is the only one I really liked. But there is no way I'm every carrying one again!
  23. I keep looking at that too. I do wonder why it's hanging around though. It's been on the site for at least a year. Still - everything about that is right for me... apart from the money!
  24. Ive got good straps - Neotech Mega bass straps. Very comfy and far better than anything else I’ve had. The back pain is muscular and is due to excessive work needed by those muscles as I’ve had 4 inguinal hernias over the last 2.5 years leaving the front core muscles weak. The back is compensating for it. I’ve also got bilateral adductor tendinopathy to add to the imbalance and pain levels.
  25. That’s very kind. Im in the midlands but I travel a bit. If something comes up close I’ll let you know.
