  1. Tell him you’ve never seen such a great parody band. Best ever and that you really needed a laugh. Thank him repeatedly.
  2. Dunlop short scale flatwounds are very nice - but I'm not sure how loud they would be on an acoustic instrument - is it purely acoustic or can it also be plugged in?
  3. No because the distance between frets will be wrong. But if you get a bolt on and put a properly build shortscale neck on it and keep the neck pocket in the same place then you have to move the bridge to make it work. For Fender guitars Warmoth do conversion necks that do not need the bridge or the pocket moved - the neck is built in a way that makes it all work just by screwing it on. I am not aware of anyone doing bass conversion necks.
  4. That one is different. This is the same as the one my neighbour has, albeit in a different colour: https://reverb.com/item/501921-reduced-rock-bottom-price-aria-elecord-feb02-acoustic-bass-fishman-transparent-blue-no-veneers The actual one is in a brown burst.
  5. My next door neighbour just bought one of these from a charity shop. They are not on the Aria website anymore and the only one I can find on the web is one from a Reverb listing 11 years ago in the USA where it sold for £223.84 equivalent. My neighbour bought it on a whim, doesn't really play but is now retired and thinking about doing something with his time. The action is a bit high and it probably needs the bridge adjusting by a luthier so as to not ruin the pickup - it has a Fishman 3 band with a semi para mid range control. If anyone knows anything about these, please let me know.
  6. My EMGs are about 1mm from the string. I've got a Smoothhound and a Line 6 G70 and neither of them distort the wireless. The G70 has a gain control on the output / receiver going to the next things in the the signal path but the Smoothhound does not. Neither has a gain control on the transmitter to receiver. The Smoothhound was very cheap, the G70 was not. Are you sure it's the wireless and not something later in the chain?
  7. I can’t decide which I liked best. I did do another one with my John Stockman / Karnivool patch and it sounded so OTT, but unfortunately the levels were crap and it was clipping all over the place. I used Moises to remove the original bass part. Such a great app!
  8. @HeadlessBassist Sorry for the delay. I recorded a play along of one of my favourite songs: “Come as you are” by Beverley Knight. And then because I was curious I recorded did it again for another 3 takes with different amp sims. SVT 4 Pro. Dirty Aguilar Tonehammer Joe Dart heavily compressed (although new roundwounds not flats) Fat DI. Bass EQ stayed the same apart from the Tonehammer as the low was far too much so I backed it off a little, but it was only boosted a little in the first place. There’s a little playlist of the 4 on YouTube.
  9. New member. 3 posts... Nice try Mr Hall, I see you!
  10. Bump! And here is our very own Dood's in depth video review!
  11. Last call before it goes into the box of things.
  12. Hipshot want $70 to ship adapter bushings from the US…
  13. Hello!
  14. The Nordy mute is definitely the fastest on/off option but it is so expensive for a stick with some foam on it. And the foam is very hard and mutes massively. A triangular shaped foam would allow the muting amount to be altered just but pushing it on more or easing it off - ideally with a softer foam... That and the stupid price made me make my own ones. Plastic Ice Lolly stick. About £5 for 20 of them: https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B06XY9JF3V?th=1 and then some adhesive backed foam tape: https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B07VJXPD4B?th=1 (Just an example, you can get it a lot cheaper than that, for shorter amounts) And you can make a bunch of them for various basses. Stick the foam to the lolly stick and then use a sharp knife to cut the slots to fit your instrument. Can even shape the foam for more and less muting with just a pair of scissors. Cut the lolly stick down to size to remove the excess length. I made enough for all my basses for about a quarter of the cost of a single Nordy one.
  15. Selling an EBS Billy Sheehan Ultimate Drive Very versatile from low gain all the way to high gain with an on board compressor, phase switch and frequency range selector for the tone. It has 2 FX loops that can be used to add other FX to either the clean or the dirty signal. You'll need the right cable for that. EBS sell them too. There are some internal trim pots for the compressor and the chip is socket mounted so that can be swapped for other chips too. Instruction manual: https://ebssweden.com/wp-content/uploads/manual_bsu1.pdf Only selling because really my drive tastes have changed and (so sorry) I'm playing a lot more guitar at the moment! It's in great condition with some Dual Lock tape in place of the feet. £115 including UK tracked delivery.
  16. Boss ES-8 is the answer. Everything goes into its own loop and you can swap the order in the Boss unit that controls it all. You can set patches with different orders.
  17. It's perception that's the problem. Doesn't matter if the band are being respectful, but if 300 in the audience decide the band isn't then there's going to be trouble. That's why I favour an introduction to remove any wrong ideas from the crowd. I don't think I've ever heard that Rogers tune. I wouldn't pick that for a pub gig!
  18. For me intent is everything. To take the piss in some way - bad. To honour the song / subject - good. A few words spoken before playing it will clarify intent for the audience. "We have been asked to play this song. It is one of the greatest protest songs ever written about a subject that doesn't get enough attention and we just hope we do it justice" Something like that.
  19. Some of mine are with white plumbers tape - they've been stable for at least 10 years. No headstock cracks or anything. The secret with that is to put slightly more on than you think as it compresses a little when pushed into the hole.
  20. Caline make a copy of the V1 BDDI as well. To my old ears I think the Caline is slightly less scooped. I still have both though!
