I'm still thinking about some of these. For those that have them - how are you getting on now that they have played in a bit?

The Mark Bass Advanced Stainless Steel set are a lovely low tension set. Really easy to play. Don't know if they are long enough for you, but worth emailing them.

In 35+ years of playing I still haven't tried one. But they do look lovely. Congrats!

Mine arrived today as well! There were some chancers on ebay trying to sell these at £20,000 - more than a real one! Naturally I offered £40.

Andertons own comparison video is hilarious From about £50 all the way up to a real one. And they all sound the same.

You see, if you played jazz then gigging it would expose it to fewer people than at home. Job done!

I think that normal use damage / wear and tear and the odd accident are unavoidable for just about everything. Even for a sitting down jazz performance at some point a music stand is going to get bumped into an instrument, or the player themselves is going to stand up and collide with something. I gave up worrying about that sort of thing years ago as it was limiting my enjoyment of my instruments. I do my best to minimise damage of course, but some things are just unavoidable even if just playing at home.

Yes. No point owning it otherwise. Insure it properly and gig it.

The clips in that video all show the IMA strings quite a bit louder to the point that I don't think that is just the string output being higher. Many reviewers do that to make something more impressive. I wish he had levelled the clips out so volume wouldn't be a factor.

I had it on a Fender Stu Hamm signature model. Was all good.

Doesn't really need an XLR. The jack outputs are balanced already. Electrically identical.

I realise that EU is mostly 230V and the UK is still actually 240V but that the allowable margins are quite wide (about 230 to 250V in the UK) but I wonder if there would be any warranty cover for power related issues. I'd like to try one - looks very much like the old Hartke HA3500 that Stu used for years.

Roughly 15 years ago I was in a band that did all that stuff - the guitarist we had was previously in one of the big military bands and she could sight read like nobody I've ever met before or since. Unless it was Guthrie level she'd just look at the page and it would be perfect first time, and she'd only need 2 or 3 run throughs to memorise it. She was scary!

Is there less finger sliding noise on these than a round?

Has the OP mentioned the genre - I noticed the comment about guitarists not being happy outside of their genre but that struck me as a bit odd for a pub covers band? Are all the covers some obscure nose flute death metal or something?
